Kelly Gorham has been missing since Thursday, August 7, 2007 when she failed to show up at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME. Police are calling Kelly Gorham’s disappearance suspicious. Description:

  • Gorham is 5 feet, 2 inches tall
  • 140 pounds
  • blonde hair
  • blue eyes
  • Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Michael Zabarsky at 657-3030.

Kelly Gorham, missing Alfred woman.A 30-year-old nursing student from Alfred who was last seen eight days ago was responsible and conscientious, making her sudden disappearance particularly alarming, Maine State Police said Wednesday. Kelly Gorham, who lived by herself in an apartment over a garage on Water Street, was last seen by her landlord and another neighbor at about 11 p.m. on Aug. 7, said state police Lt. Brian McDonough. When she didn’t show up for her job as an intern at Maine Medical Center in Portland at 1 p.m. the next day, a co-worker called state police. (Portland Press Herald)

UPDATE I Searchers find ‘evidence,’ but not woman

Search teams on foot and in the air fanned out over 268 square miles Saturday during a full-day search for Kelly Gorham, a nursing student missing for nearly two weeks. But the intensive hunt turned up no sign of Gorham and no immediate breakthrough in the case. Searchers found some undisclosed items in the woods in the vicinity of Gorham’s apartment, but officials downplayed their significance. “We found evidence. They’ll make assessments about what value they’ll have in the investigation,” said Lt. Pat Dorian of the Maine Warden Service. “Obviously, we did not find Kelly and that’s what we were hoping for.”

UPDATE II: Searchers find evidence but student remains missing

Wardens downplayed the significance of items found Saturday in woods in the vicinity of Kelly Gorham’s apartment. The items will be analyzed by detectives. “We found evidence. They’ll make assessments about what value they’ll have in the investigation,” said Lt. Pat Dorian of the Maine Warden Service. So far, state police detectives have conducted about 75 interviews and processed several cars in connection with the case. Investigators believe someone knows about her location, said Maine State Police Lt. Brian McDonough. On Friday, Gorham’s mother and authorities appealed for help. “All of you people, please, dig down deep to that goodness and if you know anything, pick up the phone. Help us find our Kelly,” Pauline Gorham said.

UPDATE III: Kelly Gorham Found Deceased in Northern New Hampshire

The body of Kelly Gorham was found in Stewartstown, NH. She was buried on land that belonged to her ex-fiance’s family in northern New Hampshire. Ex-fiance, Jason Twardus had denied any involvement in Kelly Gorham’s disappearance; however, all signs point to the obvious.

Carlson said Jason Twardus has been questioned by police since the disappearance, which came two months after the couple broke off their engagement. He said Twardus denies any involvement in Gorham’s death.

The day after they raided the Twardus home in Rochester, investigators headed to Stewartstown. “The father told them where he had a piece of land, and that’s where they found the body,” Carlson said.

He said he spoke to Jason Twardus around 3 p.m. Wednesday and he maintained his innocence. “I said, ‘Everything is pointing to you.’ He said, ‘I know it is and I’m scared to death.’ ” (Portland Press Herald)

8 People Reported Missing from the I-35W Minnesota Bridge Collapse

As investigators are still looking for answers as to the cause of the catastrophic I-35W bridge collapse, searchers continue look for the missing. Due to the severity and massive catastrophic condition of the bridge collapse, many may be trapped beneath the tons of concrete. Divers spent a third day looking for the missing to no avail. Today, the police made public a list of the eight people who continue to be missing following the bridge collapse. However, police stated that there may be others who have not yet been reported as missing.

Investigators have names that haven’t been connected to the bridge, and divers and recovery workers have found license plate numbers that don’t belong to an identified missing person or survivor, authorities said.

The Associated Press earlier identified five of the missing, who all appeared on the police list: Christine Sacorafas, 45, a recent transplant to Minnesota who was on her way to teach a Greek folk dancing class; Greg Jolstad, 45, a construction worker who was operating a skid loader on the bridge; Peter Hausmann, 47, a former missionary heading to pick up a friend; and Somali immigrant Sadiya Sahal, 23, a pregnant nursing student traveling with her 2-year-old daughter, Hanah.

The police list also included Richard Chit, Vera Peck and Scott Sathers. No information was included about them. (ABC News)

It is obviously a terribly trying time for family and friends of victims wait for the searches to bring their loved ones home.

The other three people known to be missing are Christine Sacorafas, 45, of White Bear Lake; Greg Jolstad, 45, of Mora; and Scott Sathers, 29, of Maple Grove.

Lisa Stebic Missing Since April 30, 2007 … Major Searches Planned

37 year old Lisa Stebic has been missing since April 30, 2007. Lisa Stebic, a mother of two was last seen at the home she shared with her husband. The two were in the process of a divorce. Police planned a massive search effort for Lisa Stebic to find the missing mother of two. The volunteer efforts of so many to help the find Lisa is truly touching. So many people trying to help a family they most likely have never heard of prior to Lisa going missing. All should be commended for their efforts.

The huge crowd overwhelmed the organizers, who had been expecting about 200 searchers. The line to register, be assigned a team and receive a sheet outlining what to look for snaked out the door of the pavilion at the Kenedall County Fairground. Some waited in line more than an hour

The clue sheet had a photograph of a purse of the kind Stebic was known to carry. It also mentioned a gray or silver cell phone, navy blue sweatpants, a white t-shirt and a woman’s shoe size 8 ½.

The search of the park, about 20 miles west of Plainfield, was organized by Plainfield police and police from both Will and Kendall counties. A number of professional searchers, including a unit on horseback, was assisting because of the park’s rough terrain. (Chicago Tribune)

Police, Family Lead Biggest Search Yet For Stebic

Rafters Missing in Texas on Swollen Trinity River due to Flood Rains

The torrential rains and flooding have taken their tole in the Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas areas. They have been responsible for several deaths as well as a missing 26 year old rafter whose raft capsized on the flood swollen Trinity River in Texas.

The sky was mercifully clear over much of Texas on Saturday after three weeks of drenching rain, as search teams combed the swollen Trinity River for a missing rafter.

The death toll from storms that have battered Texas since last month climbed to 15 with the recovery of two other flood victims elsewhere in the state.

The 26-year-old missing man was on a rubber raft that capsized Friday on the Trinity.

“We don’t know if he’s still trapped in that low-head dam or whether he went downstream,” Fort Worth fire department spokesman Kent Worley said.

A companion had to swim about 300 yards against the swift current to safety, but Worley said that man never saw his friend after their raft flipped. Neither men wore a life jacket. (AP)

Tim Miller & Texas EquuSearch Helping Search for Stepha Henry in Florida

Just in to Missing & Exploited, Tim Miller and Texas EquuSearch is in Florida helping in the search for missing 22 year old Stepha Henry. Stepha Henry is a graduate of criminal justice who has been missing since May 29, 2007 in Fort Lauderdale, FL when she attended a club. Stepha Henry checked her voice mail at 4:13 am but was never seen or heard from again.

According to Tim Miller, founder of Texas Equusearch, they are going to use several resources to aid in Stepha’s search. They will be using side scanner sonar and search the many water areas in the vicinity where she went missing.

Tim Miller also stated that they are trying to locate the vehicle that Stepha Henry was given a ride in to the club. Tim agrees with the police that the car could hold keys to the mystery of missing Stepha Henry.

Where is that Acura Integra? The man who drove it that night says he borrowed it from a friend of a friend. Police think if they can find the car, maybe they’ll get some answers. Is it abandoned somewhere? Or innocently being driven by its owner? Any answer would help. (AMW)

Tim Miller stated that the family of Stepha Miller asked us if we could not help bring their daughter home. Tim stated, “that law enforcement has been extremely cooperative in mapping a plan of action to search for Stepha”. We just want to bring Stepha home to her family, said Tim Miller”.

UPDATE I: Search for Missing Stepha Henry continues with aide of TES

The Henrys have also hired a high-profile search and rescue team, Texas EquuSearch, to help find Stepha. The nonprofit organization conducts searches by foot, water (diving and boats), air (using helicopters and planes), and dog teams (air scent and corpse.)

{{{SM Editors note: The Broward Times in this article stated that the family hired Texas Equusearch. That is not correct. The editors at this news paper need a understand that non-profits are not hired. The family asked for TES’s help, they did not hire them. We will make this correction of the misspoken word, if The Broward Times does not.}}}

EquuSearch director Tim Miller said the group was involved in the recovery of pregnant murder victim Jessie Davis’ body in Ohio. The company also helped in the search for murder victim Kelsey Smith, and for Natalee Holloway, a partying teen who is still listed as missing in Aruba.

“The Henrys contacted us in Texas and we wanted to get involved with the search,” he said. “We’ve brought sonar equipment to search underwater.” (Broward Times)

23 month old Conner Cummings has been missing since Friday evening at about 6:30 PM in Granville County, NC. It would appear that Conner Cummings wandered away fro his home. Connor is a white male and was last seen wearing a red and blue jumper with sandals.

About 200 law officers and volunteers are searching a heavily wooded area in northwestern Granville County for a toddler thought to have wandered away from home Friday evening.

Connor Cummings, who is 23 months old, was last seen about 6:30 p.m. at his home on Jack Aycock Road. He was in the yard with his mother as she fed the family’s dogs. After a short time, she realized he was missing, as was his dog, a golden lab.

Although investigators believe that Conner Cummings wandered off they are not ruling out any possibilities. In this day and age and after the many missing person cases we have covered, one learns rather quickly that anything is possible.

Tingen said it is believed the boy simply wandered off, though investigators are considering the possibility he was abducted.

“We are not ruling anything out at this point,” Tingen said this morning. “We will search until this child is found.”

If anyone has any information or has seen Conner Cummings please call the Granville sheriff’s office communications center at (919) 693-3213.
