Call it a father’s love for his daughter. Call it Mark Lunsford making sure that his precious 9 year old daughter Jessica Lunsford did not die in vane. The unspeakable acts that John Couey perpetrated on Jessica Lunsford are beyond comprehension. What else but the death penalty did Couey deserve? Mark Lunsford has made it his mission in live that Jessica’s Law will protect children from sex offenders and that the rights of the victim are more important than the rights of sex offenders.

42 year old Terapon Adhahn, accused child rapists and sex offender, will be charged with
aggravated murder for the kidnapping and killing of 12-year-old Zina Linnik
Facing a possible death sentence if convicted, Adhahn will be arraigned Monday on the murder charge. Zina was abducted from her family’s Tacoma neighborhood July 4 and later found dead in east Pierce County.
Adhahn currently faces 12 felony counts related to the rape of two other girls. He pleaded not guilty Thursday to 10 rape counts, a kidnapping charge and a charge of failing to register as a sex offender.
As Terapon Adhahn pleaded not guilty to the charges before him; investigators are looking to Terapon’s past to see just how many other children he may have sexually assaulted, raped and murdered.
Adhahn, a 42-year-old handyman and former Army Ranger, pleaded not guilty to 12 felony counts accusing him of repeatedly raping two girls, and failing to register as a sex offender after a 1990 incest conviction.
So much for the Judges in this country who believe that these predators will not repeat their crimes.
Mr. Adhahn is suspected in the murder of one young girl in the Tacoma area and is a “person of interest” in the death of another girl, according KING-TV in Seattle. He has also been charged with the 2000 kidnapping and rape of an 11-year-old girl who was found duct taped to a tree in the Seattle area and with the rape of another girl. (Dallas News)
The search for potential other victims continues. Did Terapon Adahn kill Amber Hagerman also?

Nine-year-old Amber Hagerman disappeared while riding her bicycle near her grandparents’ house in 1996. Her body was found four days after she vanished.
The search for victims has spread as far as Texas, where investigators are trying to determine whether Adhahn is responsible for the 1996 slaying that inspired the national “Amber Alert” missing-child notification system.
In the Pierce County case, investigators believe Adhahn sexually assaulted one girl at least 150 times — once at gunpoint — during the four years she lived with him at a Spanaway home. He also faces charges in the 2000 abduction and rape of an 11-year-old Tacoma girl who was left bound and bleeding in a remote, wooded section of Fort Lewis.
After Thursday’s court hearing, Loni Rasmussen, younger sister of the Fort Lewis victim, said finally seeing the man accused of brutalizing her sister seven years ago inspired fear and anger, and also relief.
“I hate what he did to my sister,” Rasmussen said. (Seattle PI)
So how is this child predator linked to the death of Amber Hagerman?
Amber disappeared Jan. 13, 1996. Her body was found four days later.
Adhahn’s mother and brother live in nearby Forth Worth, but it is not known whether Adhahn was in the area when Amber vanished. Court documents indicate Adhahn attended a sex-offenders group meeting in Tacoma on Jan. 9, 1996, four days before Amber disappeared. He also attended a group meeting in Tacoma on Jan. 16, a day before her body was found.
UPDATE I: Adhahn may be linked to 1995 abduction
Is it possible that Adhahn could be linked to crimes that took place as far back as 1995? Could Terapon Adhahn be connected in a 1995 abduction and assault of a 21 year old convenience store clerk? According to records, Terapon Adhahn was living seven blocks away from the convenience store where the clerk was abducted in November 1995. Abhahn also attended a group therapy session for sex offenders in Tacoma hours before the abduction took place. Coincidence or connected?
Tacoma police are investigating whether Terapon Adhahn was involved in the 1995 abduction, assault and shooting of a 21-year-old convenience store clerk.
The woman, who was left for dead near Fort Lewis Golf Course, now says she believes her attacker may have been the man charged this week with abducting and killing a 12-year-old girl who was snatched from an alley behind her family’s Tacoma home on July 4th. (KOMO-TV)

Kent A. Proffit Sr. was convicted on all 8 counts of sexual assault against 16 year old Bryce Chavers. The would be witness and victim, Bryce Chavers was later found shot to death in his bed prior to the original trial for Kent A. Profit Sr.
Proffit was scheduled to go to trial in late 2005 on those charges, but the trial was postponed when Bryce Chavers, 16, was found shot to death in his bed. Authorities initially described Chavers as a witness, but eventually revealed that Chavers was the victim in the sexual assault case.
Proffit, the ex-husband of Chavers’ mother, was sentenced earlier this year to life without parole after he was convicted of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder for ordering three other teens to kill Chavers. He also was sentenced for the murder of Jeremy Forquer, 19, whom he also ordered killed. (AP)

35 year old Rachel Holt is charge with raping a 13 year old boy 28 times. She was sentenced to a maximum of 25 years for the offense. Holt’s defense attorney complained that the sentence was too long as compared to other such cases. Maybe that’s part of the problem Mr. Defense attorney. If harsher sentences were handed down to teachers that committed these acts maybe it would act as a deterrent.

Holt’s attorney, John S. Malik, said the sentence was much longer than what teachers convicted in similar cases got. He reviewed 40 such cases and found the average was 18 months to two years.
In her brief comments to the court, Holt apologized “to everyone who suffered” as a result of her actions, including the victim and his family.
“I hope you can forgive me,” she said. “I know what I did was wrong.” (FOX News)
Teacher charged with raping student 28 times
(CNN) — A Delaware schoolteacher was charged Tuesday with 28 counts of raping a minor after she allegedly engaged in a weeklong sexual relationship with a 13-year-old student, police said.
Rachel L. Holt, a 34-year-old science teacher at Claymont Elementary School, faces additional charges that she allowed a 12-year-old friend of the victim to watch them have sex at her home, and that she gave both boys beer, New Castle County acting Police Chief Scott McLaren said.

Ex-Boy Scout official, Charles Bickerstaff, has been charged with 4 counts of criminal sexual abuse and 4 counts of criminal sexual assault. He is accused of sexually assaulting a 16 year old boy.
DIXON, Ill. (AP) — A former regional Boy Scout official has been charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old Scout at least four times since July.
Charles Bickerstaff, 56, of Dixon, was charged with four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and four counts of criminal sexual assault, Lee County Correctional Officer Larry Schremp said Sunday. Bail was set at $2.5 million at a hearing Friday, and Bickerstaff remained in custody Sunday.
Bickerstaff retired last year as district executive for the Blackhawk Area Council, covering northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, of the Boy Scouts of America. He recruited and trained volunteers and helped organize fundraisers.
The boy alerted authorities to the alleged abuse in late April, and investigators discovered journals in Bickerstaff’s house that detailed facts supporting the boy’s account, Lee County Detective Sgt. David Glessner said.

It is paramount that we know the location where sex offenders live in the United States. All too often we let these predators slip through the crack and melt into society, only to offend again. It should be mandatory upon their sentencing and parole that they “must” register. This is and should never be an option. More attention should be given to sexual predators as its only a matter of time before they strike again and escalate the assaults.
Annual registration is required for 10 years for people convicted of kidnapping, luring a child, indecent assault, incest and promotion of a child for prostitution and six similar crimes.
Rape convictions and convictions for eight other types of crime, including those convicted of a sex crime while classified as a sex offender, are sexually violent predators who must report quarterly to state police for life.
Offenders must file a report with state police within 48 hours after changing their address, workplace or school they are attending, or after leaving prison.
Sexual offenders moving into the state or leaving the state must notify state police within 48 hours. (Daily Courier)
Why do we let sex offenders off the hook? Their movement from state to state falls under the radar when they fail to re-register in their new locality. It is obvious that not having an updates registry can lead to tragedy. We need to look no further than the heinous abduction, rape and murder of Jessica Lunsford. We need to know where these people are. It is not about their rights. This is about the rights of innocent and unsuspecting children. Innocent people’s rights should not be trampled by animals.
States don’t know where to find at least 60,000 sexual predators because the offenders fail to report their address to police, a national children’s advocate said.
There is no doubt that sex predators non-compliance in registering should be considered a felony. Non-registration should result in a trip back to prison, no questions asked. A sex predator’s non-registration should be considered intent to commit another act. It is actually shocking the number of states who just seem not to care about protecting children and adults against sex predators. What are these politicians thinking? Are they pandering to the sex predator vote?
Unlike Pennsylvania, where noncompliance is a felony, there are 25 states where it’s a misdemeanor. Allen notes there are about 26,500 offenders in Ohio, 24,000 in New York and 11,000 in New Jersey.
Pennsylvania notifies neighbors when a violent predator moves in or enrolls in a college or university after serving a prison sentence. Some states rely on offenders to do that, Allen said.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children estimate there are a staggering 603,000 registered sex offenders in the US. There is at least another 100,000 that are non-compliant. A new Special Analysis Unit has been created by NCMEC
to search databases, analyze information, and help identify and locate
these fugitives.
The question remains as to why so many states do not take sexual predators serious. Why have they not passed harsher penalties for those that have offended? Especially when they know there is such a high percentage of those that will repeat and in doing so trying to hide from their past actions by not registering. The following state laws are a disappointment, to say the least.
There are 25 states where noncompliance with one or more registration duties may be treated as only a misdemeanor: Alaska, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
- In four states, when a sex offender moves from one state to another state, the responsibility to notify the new state is placed solely on the offender himself: Delaware, District of Columbia, Kansas, and Utah.
- In eight states, the law is ambiguous as to whether the state or the sex offender must notify a new state when the offender moves: California, Kentucky, Montana, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota and Tennessee.
- In only seven states, when a sex offender fails to register, it is mandatory for parole to be revoked and the sex offender to be returned to prison: California, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, North Dakota, and West Virginia. (NCMEC)
In July of 2006, Congress passed the Adam Walsh Child Protection and
Safety Act. Politicians, stop dragging your heals. This is about protecting the publics safety and children. This is nothing to politicize. This is problem that needs to be addressed NOW! When dealing with sex predators, you are either with us or against us. There is no middle ground.

If its a school story, it must be another teacher-student sexual exploitation case. 23
year old Allenna Williams Ward is accused of having sex with 5 boys whose ages range from 14 to 15. Ward was busted when an inappropriate note from the teach to one of the victims was found in the garbage.
CLINTON, S.C. (WLTX, AP) — Authorities say a 23-year-old female middle school teacher was arrested Wednesday, accused of having sex with five boys in locations including the school, at a motel, in a park and behind a restaurant.
Clinton Public Safety Director John Thomas says some of the 14- and 15-year-old victims were students at Bell Street Middle School in Laurens School District 56, where Allenna Williams Ward taught. Others went to a different school.
Investigators say there could be more victims.
Warrants show Ward is charged with five counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and six counts of lewd acts on a minor. The incidents occurred between November and continued up through the past few weeks.
Ward has been fired from her job and is under house arrest. I wonder if this was a male teacher whether the bale would have been so low and house arrest deemed appropriate if 5 female 14 and 15 year old girls had been molested?
School district officials say they held an emergency meeting and fired Ward from her job. Thursday morning, bond was set at $110,000: $10,000 for each of the eleven charges. Terms of her bond include no contact with the alleged victims, no cell phone use, and if she posts bond, Ward is under house arrest.

Michael Devlin, the suspected kidnapper of child molester of Ben Ownby and Shawn
Hornbeck was indicted today by a Federal Grand Jury.
Read the indictment HERE.
Devlin is being charged with four felony counts of production of child pornography and two felony counts of transportation of a minor for a criminal sex act, U.S. Attorney Catherine L. Hanaway of the Eastern District of Missouri announced.
“This is by far the worst thing we have seen,” Hanaway said. “This minor, over the course of five years, had child pornography produced with them as the victim, was taken across state lines so sex crimes could be committed against them.”
It had been reported early on in the investigation that child pornography was found on Devlin’s computer. However, not much had been said since.
Previous charges filed against Michel Devlin.
The indictment states the following:
The indictment alleges that between October 2002 and July 2003, Devlin photographed a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Additionally, the indictment charges that between July 2003 and January 2007, Devlin videotaped a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct. In February 2004, Devlin allegedly took a minor to Illinois with the intent to engage in criminal sexual assault. Devlin is also charged with taking a minor to Arizona between June 20 and July 3, 2004, with the intent to engage in sexual assault. (FOX News)
Honestly, Michael Devlin can not be sent away long enough.
If convicted on the first pornography count, Devlin could receive 10 to 20 years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000. Some other counts each carry a penalty range of 15 to 30 years in prison and/or fines of up to $250,000, while those involving transportation for purpose of criminal sex acts, carry a range of five years to 30 years prison and/or fines up to $250,000, per count.

Prosecutors have added an additional “aggravated sodomy” charge against Justin Thurber in the death of 19 year old Jodi Sanderholm.
The charge is aggravated criminal sodomy. The new charge will be added to the previous charges of aggravated kidnapping, rape and capital murder, according to Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison and Cowley County Attorney Chris Smith.
Smith said this morning that some evidence had come back that demonstrated to them that the additional charge needed to be brought.
“It was something we thought, but we just wanted to make sure we had the evidence to sustain the charge,” he said. “It’s another charge to go with in what we believe happened to Miss Sanderholm.”
This additional charge will allow the prosecution to go after the death penalty against Thurber. A sentence that he justly deserves.
Smith said the new charge was an “aggravating charge” and in the capital murder statute, if a person commits a murder while engaged in a rape or aggravated criminal sodomy, it allows the state to make it a death-eligible case if prosecutors choose that route.
He said the state already had that option with the rape charge but this would give them another option. (Ark City.net)
