7 year old Somer Renee Thompson has been missing since the afternoon of October 19,
2009 in Orange Park, FL. Somer Renee Thompson was walking home from Grove Park Elementary School at approximately 2:50 pm with her twin brother, her sister and some friends. She ran ahead of the group; however, when Somer’s brother and sister arrived home at about 3:05 pm, she was not home. Somer has not been seen or heard from since.
A statewide Amber Alert for Somer was issued about 9 am by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Could Somer Renee Thompson been the victim of a sexual predator abduction? Police are also investigating whether Somer’s disappearance is related to an event that happened in the area on October 10, when three people unsuccessfully tried to lure 5 year old girl Kaylee Boothroyd into a car.
Police interviewed 57 sex offenders and sexual predators within a three-mile radius. They have since expanded that search area to a five-mile radius to include 37 more.
Cops say there was an attempted abduction in that area 10 days before, but they say are not sure if the incident is related to Somer’s disappearance.

The search continued on Tuesday for missing 7 year old Somer Renee Thompson. The police suspect foul play in the 7 year olds disappearance. There were some 150 law enforcement searchers, including tracking dog teams, divers and helicopter units involved in ground and water searches for missing Somer Renee Thompson.
“Obviously we suspect foul play in the fact that she did not come home last night,” said Sgt. Dan Mahla of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. “This is totally out of character for her.”
“In fact, the climate conditions and the age and the size of that child would have made it very very tough for her to survive.”
Police have stated that there have been 150 leads; however, there have been no “persons of interest” named or any physical evidence found that might lead LE to where the missing girl might be. Make that 200 leads and counting.

UPDATE I: Texas EquuSearch Going to Search for Missing Somer Renee Thompson
Texas EquuSearch will begin a search for Somer Renee Thompson, age 7, on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at 8:00 a.m. The Command Center will be located at Orange Park Athletic Association, 1086 Fromhart St., Orange Park, FL 32073. The website for the park is www.opaa.us.
UPDATE II: Body of Missing Somer Renee Thompson found in Landfill
Sadly, the body of 7 year old Somer Renee Thompson has been found in a Georgia landfill. Investigators have confirmed that the body of a young girl that was found in a Georgia landfill about 50 miles from the Jacksonville, FL area where Somer went missing was Somer Renee Thompson.
Officials from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation say that they will not determine, nor disclose, until an autopsy is performed tomorrow morning if the body is that of little Somer Thompson. Thompson vanished on her mile-long walk home from school Monday in Orange Park, Florida. John Bankhead, spokesman for the GBI tells Fox that the investigators are still at the scene where the body was discovered, but that the body of the young female has been sent to Savannah, GA for the autopsy in the morning.
UPDATE III: The autopsy might just be the piece of the puzzle that provides an arrest and justice for Somer. If Somer Renee Thompson was sexually molested, then there will be DNA evidence that will nail the scumbag(s) that committed this heinous crime. With all of the sex offenders in the area of the abduction, it will be hard to believe that there will not be matching DNA evidence on a database.

The Garrido’s Antioch home was searched for evidence Thursday morning.

The diligent questioning of the parolee officer led Garrido to reveal the kidnapping of Dugard. Further questioning revealed Dugard and Garrido were the parents of the two children.

24 year old Pfc. James Gonzalez, who has been thought to be missing has been found and arrested. Gonzalez was arrested Wednesday night after being found unharmed, according to U.S. Army Criminal Investigations Command spokesman Christopher Grey. Pfc. James Gonzalez, a soldier at Fort Hood in central Texas, failed to return to base July 13 as scheduled.

Army Pfc. James Gonzalez
There are no indications that Gonzalez was abducted, Grey said in an e-mail sent to The Associated Press. Law enforcement officials in Laredo were interviewing Gonzalez Thursday, and Grey said he’d be turned over to the Army’s custody later that day.
There were conflicting reports about the circumstances surrounding the soldier’s arrest.
Grey said it was during a traffic stop. Local law enforcement sources say it was at a house in Laredo, Texas, they’d been conducting surveillance on during the investigation.
He has since been charged with being AWOL.
It has been reported that Pfc. James Gonzalez was missing, presumed kidnapped and that a ransom had been asked for his return.
A Fort Hood-based soldier has been missing for about a week since telling family members he was heading to a Texas border town, and the FBI says the Army was told the missing private had been kidnapped, the soldier’s brother said Tuesday.
The family of Pfc. James Gonzalez, 24, last saw him July 11 at his mother’s house in Robstown, near Corpus Christi, said his older brother, J.C. Gonzalez. James Gonzalez said he was headed to Laredo that afternoon to hang out with friends before returning to base July 13, his brother said.

10 year old Lindsey J. Baum has been missing since Friday night, June 26, 2009 at approximately 9:15 pm in McCleary, WA. Lindsey J. Baum was last seen Friday night walking home on Maple Street from a friend’s house. The distance was only about four blocks, she never arrived home. Lindsey has no history of running away.
Lindsey J. Baum Description:
- 4-foot 9-inches tall
- 80 pounds
- brown hair
- brown eyes
- She was last seen wearing a grey pullover hoodie with blue jeans and black shoes.
- McCleary Police say she doesn’t have a history of running away, and since there are fewer than 2,000 people in town, someone would recognize her if she were walking the streets.
If anyone has any information regarding the whereabouts of Lindsey, please call Grays Harbor E911 Center at 360-533-8765 or McCleary Police at 360-495-3107
UPDATE I: Search for Missing Lindsey Baum enters Second Day
As the search for a missing 10-year-old girl stretched into its second day in this small mill town, police and family are beginning to fear she may have been kidnapped.

10 year old Lindsey Baum Missing
Lindsey J. Baum was last seen between 9 and 10 p.m. Friday when she left her friend’s home on Maple Street, where she had been visiting, said Dave Pimentel of the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office.
The police are hesitant to refer to the missing girl’s disappearance a case of foul play; however, the more time goes by, the greater the possibility.
The search was resumed Sunday at 6 a.m., but so far with the same futile result as the day before.
Police are hesitant to call the girl’s disappearance a case of foul play just yet, but the girl’s family fears the worst.
“I’ve tried to keep the thought of somebody grabbing her out of my mind,” says her mother, Melissa Baum.
Search on for missing McCleary girl
Melissa Baum said Lindsey wasn’t angry Friday night, and left without money, a change of clothes or her cellphone. Police have searched for the girl in the homes of her friends, in case she had been “hiding out.”
“She wouldn’t have run away,” Baum said, her voice hoarse. “If she had been hiding she would have come out by now. She can’t hide that long, she loves to talk.”
National Center of Missing & Exploited Children: Lindsey J. Baum
UPDATE II: FBI Joins the Search for Missing Lindsey Baum
The FBI has now joined the investigation and search for missing 10 yea old Lindsey Baum. At this point between the short walk between her home and her friends house and the fact that the community was so small, it is hard to believe that Lindsey did not know her abductor.
The FBI has joined the search for a 10-year-old girl who vanished Friday while walking home from a friend’s house in this small mill town.
Officials said the federal crime-busting bureau was brought in because of its expertise and experience in solving missing children cases. The FBI also will be bringing in more law enforcement personnel to assist.
As the search for 10-year-old Lindsey J. Baum stretched into its second day Sunday, police and family - along with the whole town - are baffled and concerned at the girl’s disappearance in a town where everyone knows their neighbors.

Sadly, although not unexpected authorities have confirmed that the body found buried beneath a layer of concrete along the River Raisin in Raisinville Township last Thursday by a fisherman was that of 5 year old missing Nevaeh Buchanan.
Authorities say a girl’s body found buried along a Michigan river has been confirmed as that of 5-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan, missing since last month.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s office said in a statement Tuesday that DNA testing positively identified her. An autopsy and further tests were being conducted to determine what caused her death and when.
DNA test makes a positive ID: It’s Nevaeh’s body
DNA testing results concluded that Nevaeh indeed was found by fishermen Thursday beneath a layer of concrete along the River Raisin in Raisinville Township, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said this afternoon.
Investigators did not release a cause of death, nor is anyone in custody. The girl disappeared May 24 from her apartment complex.
Though Sheriff Tilman Crutchfield said Friday that the girl found near the river likely was Nevaeh, family members held out hope the girl might still be alive.
