23 Month Old Connor Cummings Missing, Wandered Away from Home in Granville County, NC (Update: Found Safe)

23 month old Conner Cummings has been missing since Friday evening at about 6:30 PM in Granville County, NC. It would appear that Conner Cummings wandered away fro his home. Connor is a white male and was last seen wearing a red and blue jumper with sandals.

About 200 law officers and volunteers are searching a heavily wooded area in northwestern Granville County for a toddler thought to have wandered away from home Friday evening.

Connor Cummings, who is 23 months old, was last seen about 6:30 p.m. at his home on Jack Aycock Road. He was in the yard with his mother as she fed the family’s dogs. After a short time, she realized he was missing, as was his dog, a golden lab.

The mother searched on her own for about two hours before calling the Granville County Sheriff’s Office as the sun set. (The News Observer)

Although investigators believe that Conner Cummings wandered off they are not ruling out any possibilities. In this day and age and after the many missing person cases we have covered, one learns rather quickly that anything is possible.

Tingen said it is believed the boy simply wandered off, though investigators are considering the possibility he was abducted.

“We are not ruling anything out at this point,” Tingen said this morning. “We will search until this child is found.”

If anyone has any information or has seen Conner Cummings please call the Granville sheriff’s office communications center at (919) 693-3213.

UPDATE I: Conner Cummings Found Safe

There is good news to report from the case of missing 23 month old Conner Cummings. Conner was found safe by searchers at about 8:30pm Saturday night.

“He was scratched up, dirty and had some ticks on him,” Tingen said in a telephone interview. “He was in pretty good spirits.”

More than 200 volunteers and police officers searched for the boy in woods that were thick with briars and vegetation. The Civil Air Patrol launched aircraft to search from above. (Washington Post)
