Brooke Bennett Funeral and Landfill Search in Texas for Raymond Gagnon’s Laptop and Hard Drive

As Randolph, VT lay 12 year old Brooke Bennett to rest there are further investigations into the death of Brooke. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 9, 2008 as the small town in Vermont paid their respects to 12 year old Brooke Bennett and tried to make sense out of the senseless.

Brooke Bennett, Rest in Peace

Thousands of miles away in Texas, Federal authorities were searching a landfill in San Antonio where they believe a laptop or hard drive owned by Brooke’s former step-father Raymond Gagnon containing evidence related to Brooke Bennett’s disappearance and death last month may be located. Raymond Gagnon has already facing obstruction of justice charges in the Brooke Bennett case and separate charges of child porn in AL.

Erik Vasys, a spokesman for the FBI’s regional office in San Antonio, Texas, said Friday that authorities are searching through trash and other waste at the Allied Waste Services Landfill off of Interstate 10 East.

That San Antonio landfill may be the dumping site for trash from a local apartment rented by Raymond Gagnon, Bennett’s former stepfather who is facing charges in Alabama for possession of child pornography.

The 40-year-old Gagnon allegedly instructed his landlord last month to throw away a safe containing a computer stored at his apartment that police say contained volumes of child pornography, including sexual photos of an underage female witness involved in Bennett’s disappearance.

“We are working to locate a hard drive or laptop computer that was disposed of at the instruction of Mr. Gagnon,” Vasys said early Friday afternoon. “Based on information we have received, this landfill is the dumping site for trash from his apartment.”

FBI Searches Texas Landfill For Safe That May Contain Child Porn

Gagnon rented a room in San Antonio from Kevin Grosenheider, who according to an affidavit told authorities he threw the safe into an apartment complex garbage bin near his home at Gagnon’s request.

Grosenheider is quoted in an affidavit as saying he didn’t know what was in the safe “but assumed it was child pornography.”

Federal prosecutors said Gagnon tried to access his ex-stepdaughter’s MySpace account “on or about” June 26 from a library computer in Cullman, Vt.

Authorities search landfill for safe

An FBI spokesman says investigators have searched for the safe over the past week.

Teen Amber Leann Hess Missing From Queen Creek, AZ Foul Play Suspected

Family members said Amber has never disappeared before and that it’s out of character for her to lose contact with her parents. Her grandfather said Amber does not have a boyfriend and her family has no idea where she could be. (National Ledger)

UPDATE I: Burned body found, possibly linked to a missing 17-year-old girl

This is not a very optimistic update in the case of missing Amber LeAnn Hess. Authorities have found a burned body and other evidence that lead them to believe it may be that of missing Amber LeAnn Hess. Although they are unable to confirm, the evidence (and we are speculating) might be that of her missing car.

Pinal County Sheriff’s officials say they’ve discovered a burned body and other evidence that indicates the victim may be a missing 17-year-old Chandler Heights woman. The body was found off the Hunt Highway near the Anthem development.

The Pinal County chief deputy says at this time, they’re unable to confirm the body is that of Amber Hess. (KOLD)

Originally, one would speculate that this could have been a random robbery where the person may have thought that the entire family had gone on vacation. However, it is hard to imagine that a burglar/killer would have gone to such great lengths to hide and dispose of a body. One would tend to think that the killer was known to the victim.

Teen missing; burned body found

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office has ordered an autopsy on a burned body discovered Monday in the desert to determine whether investigators have found 17-year-old Amber LeAnn Hess, who was last heard from Friday.

The body was found in an area off of Hunt Highway, about five miles northwest of Florence. Investigators found evidence at the site that connects the case to the other crime scene – the home where Amber lives with her parents, said Jerald Monahan, Pinal County chief sheriff’s deputy.

Authorities declined to say what that evidence included.

UPDATE II: Could there be any Clues from Amber LeAnn Hess’ MySpace?

14 Year Old New Jersey Girl Breanna Bird Missing (Update: Returned Safe)

14 year old Breanna Bird has been missing for three days in New Jersey. Its a parents worst nightmare. Thinking your child is safe and under your protection when suddenly they realize their teenager is living a duel life on the internet.

“I just don’t think she’s where she wants to be, I really don’t,” said her mother, Renee Bird.

With every passing hour, Renee and Harvey Bird’s level of fear rises. Their 14-year-old daughter Breanna vanished without a trace three days ago.

“Multiple things are running through our heads right now. From best- case scenarios to worst,” said Harvey Bird.

The Galloway township teen — whose dad is a 22-year veteran of the local police force — stayed home Saturday evening when her parents went to dinner.

When they came back, they said Breanna was gone. No one has heard from her since.

She left her cell phone behind, but nothing indicating she planned to be away for long.

“The only thing missing is her pocketbook and her coat,” said her mom. (NBC10)

Breanna Bird’s parents discovered that she had a MySpace account. On that account it indicates that she is 19.

The ninth- grader’s parents soon learned Breanna had at least three accounts on the popular Web Site, on which she claimed to be as old as 19.

The couple said they also discovered teen had been in contact with adult men, both online and on the phone.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Galloway Township Police at 609-652-3705.

UPDATE I: NJ Teen returned home safe

A missing South Jersey teenager returned home on Tuesday after disappearing Saturday night.

The girl’s parents had worried that she may have set up a meeting with someone she met on the Internet, and Galloway Township police were treating her disappearance as a missing person.

But the girl, the daughter of a township police officer, came home at approximately 9 p.m. It was unclear where she was or who she was with.

Heather Greig Missing Missing in Portland, OR … Possible Runaway

Heather Greig, 17-year-old Cleveland High School student and star athlete is missing.

Heather Greig, a star athlete at Cleveland, who lives with her parents on S.E. 68th Avenue, disappeared after going to her first-period class and hasn’t been seen since, as far as her family knows. (The Bee)

Heather Grieg Myspace profile

Police believe that Heather Greig is a “runaway” and in no immediate danger. However, how many times have we heard that misdiagnosis in a missing persons case? According to her parents, Heather has never run away before and gave no indications.

That’s what makes it so frustrating for Heather’s family, who say she has no history of running away, gave no indication that she was unhappy or wanted to run away, and has no money, cell phone, or car.

“We haven’t heard a word from her,” said her mother, Shannon Greig. “We filed the missing person’s report that first night. … I just want her picture out there. Somebody’s got to have seen her.”

Greig said it’s tough to know for sure, but her daughter might have taken a bag with some clothes and her travel hairdryer with her when she left. But she has no idea where her daughter would go. They’ve posted fliers around the neighborhood, but can’t afford to offer any reward money.

If anyone has information, they are asked to call Heather’s family at 503/775-5272 or 503/774-1450, or e-mail: Her parents have become frustrated with th lack of action from the police, as the case is deemed a runaway. If anyone has seen Heather, please let her family and authorities know.

February 3rd, 2007 at 04:42pm Posted by | Missing, Missing Teen, My, Runaway | no comments to Distribute on-line Amber Alerts to its Subscribers has teamed up with The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to distribute Amber Alerts to is on-line community. has recently come under fire for the exposure it creates to younger subscribers and predators. The on-line alerts will begin today on MySpace. MySpace still has a ways to go in protecting its on-line networking community; however, this addition of on-line Amber alerts makes sense. Teenagers and those of college age that predominately make up MySpace would be the first to know if teens had gone missing. Disseminating the information and fast internet responses may help enable police in the battle to find missing persons.

The online alerts, which will begin Tuesday, will be sent to all users in the ZIP codes where it was issued. They will appear in a small text box at the top of a user’s portfolio. The user can click on the box for more information, including a photo of the missing child and a description of the suspect. (CBS News)

MySpace also announced two safety features designed to protect members’ privacy.

The site will now require people signing up for an account to provide a working e-mail address and verify their identity by responding to an e-mail sent to the listed address. This is a practice common with other online services, but MySpace has been hesitant thus far because of fears the confirmation messages might end up mistakenly in spam filters. The site, open only to those 14 and over, will also offer a tool to prevent any member under age 18 from being contacted by adults, and vice versa. The tool, however, is optional and relies on self-reported ages. (Fox Reno)

My Space still has a ways to go in providing safety to its users as there is presently a law suit by four families against the networking internet giant. to Send Out Amber Alerts

MORE SAFETY FEATURES As part of its safety program, MySpace now requires all new members to register with a valid e-mail address, which they say helps law enforcement track down potential predators. New applicants will receive a verification e-mail with a link requiring them to click back and verify their identity. U.S. senators Charles Schumer and John McCain said last month they planned to introduce legislation that would require convicted sex offenders to register active e-mail addresses, expanding the existing requirements that they register personal information with local municipalities. The database of e-mail addresses would let social networking sites like MySpace bar offenders from their services by cross-checking new applicants against the database. (FOX)

16 year-old Rachel Smith of Potomac and 18 year-old Rachel Crites of Gaithersburg disappeared on Friday afternoon (1/19/07) and have not been seen from since. Police are considering them as “endangered females”.

  • Police said the girls were driving a 1997 dark blue Subaru Outback with license plate MBJ-485.

According to one of the parents of the missing girls a disturbing note was left behind in her diary about “being buried together” written by Rachel Crites. It appears to be a suicide note of sorts.

An entry from Crites’ diary has her family particularly concerned, WRC-TV (Channel 4) reported Tuesday.

The entry read: “Wherever I end up laying, whether buried or cremated, I want to stay with my true love, buried next to her. This is my choice. I’m sorry.” (WTOP)
