A 12 person jury has convicted Michael King of the kidnapping, rape and murder of 31 year old Denise Amber Lee. Thankfully, it took the jury less than three hours to find this waste of human debris guilty and the recommend that King deserves to die for his crime.
The death penalty vote serves as a recommendation for Judge Deno Economou, who will sentence King later this fall.
Minutes after handing down the decision, three female jurors agreed to talk with reporters about the three-week trial and the vote for death.
Philippa Steele started by reading a statement, “This was an extremely difficult decision to make. Our hearts go out to both families because we realize both have suffered.”
Judge rules Michael King competent for penalty phase.
Denise Amber Lee went missing on January 17, 2008 when she was abducted from her North Port, FL home by Michael King. Denise Amber Lee would later be found in a shallow grave in Sarasota County.
Jaycee Lee Dugard had been missing since June 10, 1991 when as an 11 year old girl walking to the bus stop in South Lake Tahoe, CA she was abducted by two individuals. She had not been heard or seen from since.
18 years later … Jaycee Lee Dugard is found alive and safe. In a missing persons case of don’t ever give up hope, 29 year old Jaycee Lee Dugard has been reunited with her family.
Sadly, Jaycee Lee Dugard had been held as a sex slave by Phillip Garrido, a previously convicted sex offender and kept Dugard in the back yard of his property. According to Fox40 News, Dugard bore several children for sex offender Phillip Garrido. The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department stated that the two children were kept in “complete isolation” and had not been to school or a doctor. (Video)
Authorities tell FOX40 News that Dugard bore several children for sex offender Phillip Garrido, who kept her in a backyard device — possibly a shed — as a sex slave for both Garrido and his wife, Nancy Garrido.
Both Phillip and Nancy Garrido were arrested as suspects in the kidnapping case. Authorities say Nancy Garrido was with Phillip Garrido at the time of the abduction and matches the suspect’s description obtained by eyewitnesses in 1991. The Garrido’s Antioch home was searched for evidence Thursday morning.
Authorities with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s Division of Adult Parolee Operations report a parolee agent helped crack the 18-year-old kidnapping case while following up on a tip that Garrido was seen with two small children on the campus of UC Berkeley. The diligent questioning of the parolee officer led Garrido to reveal the kidnapping of Dugard. Further questioning revealed Dugard and Garrido were the parents of the two children.

Two suspects are in custody. They were moved Thursday afternoon to the El Dorado County Jail from the Contra Costa County jail where they had been held since their arrest Wednesday.
Kudos to the Feds & NY State Police.
Chalk another one up for the good guys. Federal authorities and New York State police have arrested eleven people in upstate New York in connection with an investigation into child pornography distributed over the Internet.
The arrests this week followed an investigation that led to 17 federal search warrants, U.S. Attorney Andrew Baxter said Friday. The defendants, ranging in age from 18 to 58, are charged with receipt of child pornography. Some are charged with distribution. All could face at least five years in federal prison, prosecutors said.
Authorities said computer images depicting sex with prepubescent children, including toddlers, were posted and downloaded on an Internet file-sharing server. They declined to discuss other details or explain exactly how they identified the 11 suspects.
U.S. Attorney Andrew Baxter went on to say that every image of child porn and every image downloaded depicts a crime scene of abuse of a child.
“One of the things I don’t think people necessarily realize is that every image of child pornography depicts a crime scene of abuse of a child,” Baxter said. “Child pornography is created by the abuse of real live people, real live children. So that the demand for those images created by people downloading and trading pornography triggers abuse down the line.”
The police in Reno, NV have arrested 27 year old James Biela in connection with the murder of 19 year old college student Brianna Denison. James Biela was booked at the Washoe County Jail and charged with murder, first-degree kidnapping and sexual assault. James Biela was booked into the Washoe County Jail on charges of murder, kidnapping in the first degree and sexual assault, but could not confirm he is the suspect in the Denison case.
Biela was arrested at the Stepping Stones Children’s Center, where officials said he was dropping off his son. Reno police took a DNA sample from the suspect and said it would take 12 hours to process.
Police spokesman Steve Frady issued a one-sentence news release announcing a news conference at 10:30 a.m. today. He would not say whether the suspect was arrested in Reno or elsewhere.
19 year old Brianna Denison disappeared January 20, 2008 and whose body was later found in a field in South Reno on February 15, 2008. At the time of the recovery police stated they had found DNA evidence at the scene of the crime that they say links the suspect to other sexual assaults near the UNR campus.
Police said they recovered DNA evidence at the scene that would link a suspect to the crime. The DNA samples also linked Denison’s killer to three other sexually related attacks on women at or near UNR from October to December 2007.
Could police have finally found a serial rapist that has been connected to at least 3 reported assualts in the Reno area?

42 year old Terapon Adhahn, accused child rapists and sex offender, will be charged with aggravated murder for the kidnapping and killing of 12-year-old Zina Linnik
Facing a possible death sentence if convicted, Adhahn will be arraigned Monday on the murder charge. Zina was abducted from her family’s Tacoma neighborhood July 4 and later found dead in east Pierce County.
Adhahn currently faces 12 felony counts related to the rape of two other girls. He pleaded not guilty Thursday to 10 rape counts, a kidnapping charge and a charge of failing to register as a sex offender.
As Terapon Adhahn pleaded not guilty to the charges before him; investigators are looking to Terapon’s past to see just how many other children he may have sexually assaulted, raped and murdered.
Adhahn, a 42-year-old handyman and former Army Ranger, pleaded not guilty to 12 felony counts accusing him of repeatedly raping two girls, and failing to register as a sex offender after a 1990 incest conviction.
So much for the Judges in this country who believe that these predators will not repeat their crimes.
Mr. Adhahn is suspected in the murder of one young girl in the Tacoma area and is a “person of interest” in the death of another girl, according KING-TV in Seattle. He has also been charged with the 2000 kidnapping and rape of an 11-year-old girl who was found duct taped to a tree in the Seattle area and with the rape of another girl. (Dallas News)
The search for potential other victims continues. Did Terapon Adahn kill Amber Hagerman also?
Nine-year-old Amber Hagerman disappeared while riding her bicycle near her grandparents’ house in 1996. Her body was found four days after she vanished.
The search for victims has spread as far as Texas, where investigators are trying to determine whether Adhahn is responsible for the 1996 slaying that inspired the national “Amber Alert” missing-child notification system.
In the Pierce County case, investigators believe Adhahn sexually assaulted one girl at least 150 times — once at gunpoint — during the four years she lived with him at a Spanaway home. He also faces charges in the 2000 abduction and rape of an 11-year-old Tacoma girl who was left bound and bleeding in a remote, wooded section of Fort Lewis.
After Thursday’s court hearing, Loni Rasmussen, younger sister of the Fort Lewis victim, said finally seeing the man accused of brutalizing her sister seven years ago inspired fear and anger, and also relief.
“I hate what he did to my sister,” Rasmussen said. (Seattle PI)
So how is this child predator linked to the death of Amber Hagerman?
Amber disappeared Jan. 13, 1996. Her body was found four days later.
Adhahn’s mother and brother live in nearby Forth Worth, but it is not known whether Adhahn was in the area when Amber vanished. Court documents indicate Adhahn attended a sex-offenders group meeting in Tacoma on Jan. 9, 1996, four days before Amber disappeared. He also attended a group meeting in Tacoma on Jan. 16, a day before her body was found.
UPDATE I: Adhahn may be linked to 1995 abduction
Is it possible that Adhahn could be linked to crimes that took place as far back as 1995? Could Terapon Adhahn be connected in a 1995 abduction and assault of a 21 year old convenience store clerk? According to records, Terapon Adhahn was living seven blocks away from the convenience store where the clerk was abducted in November 1995. Abhahn also attended a group therapy session for sex offenders in Tacoma hours before the abduction took place. Coincidence or connected?
Tacoma police are investigating whether Terapon Adhahn was involved in the 1995 abduction, assault and shooting of a 21-year-old convenience store clerk.
The woman, who was left for dead near Fort Lewis Golf Course, now says she believes her attacker may have been the man charged this week with abducting and killing a 12-year-old girl who was snatched from an alley behind her family’s Tacoma home on July 4th. (KOMO-TV)
35 year old Rachel Holt is charge with raping a 13 year old boy 28 times. She was sentenced to a maximum of 25 years for the offense. Holt’s defense attorney complained that the sentence was too long as compared to other such cases. Maybe that’s part of the problem Mr. Defense attorney. If harsher sentences were handed down to teachers that committed these acts maybe it would act as a deterrent.
Holt’s attorney, John S. Malik, said the sentence was much longer than what teachers convicted in similar cases got. He reviewed 40 such cases and found the average was 18 months to two years.
In her brief comments to the court, Holt apologized “to everyone who suffered” as a result of her actions, including the victim and his family.
“I hope you can forgive me,” she said. “I know what I did was wrong.” (FOX News)
Teacher charged with raping student 28 times
(CNN) — A Delaware schoolteacher was charged Tuesday with 28 counts of raping a minor after she allegedly engaged in a weeklong sexual relationship with a 13-year-old student, police said.
Rachel L. Holt, a 34-year-old science teacher at Claymont Elementary School, faces additional charges that she allowed a 12-year-old friend of the victim to watch them have sex at her home, and that she gave both boys beer, New Castle County acting Police Chief Scott McLaren said.
Prosecutors have added an additional “aggravated sodomy” charge against Justin Thurber in the death of 19 year old Jodi Sanderholm.
The charge is aggravated criminal sodomy. The new charge will be added to the previous charges of aggravated kidnapping, rape and capital murder, according to Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison and Cowley County Attorney Chris Smith.
Smith said this morning that some evidence had come back that demonstrated to them that the additional charge needed to be brought.
“It was something we thought, but we just wanted to make sure we had the evidence to sustain the charge,” he said. “It’s another charge to go with in what we believe happened to Miss Sanderholm.”
This additional charge will allow the prosecution to go after the death penalty against Thurber. A sentence that he justly deserves.
Smith said the new charge was an “aggravating charge” and in the capital murder statute, if a person commits a murder while engaged in a rape or aggravated criminal sodomy, it allows the state to make it a death-eligible case if prosecutors choose that route.
He said the state already had that option with the rape charge but this would give them another option. (Ark City.net)
Maybe this might be one of the top 5 “Most Unbelievable line” ever uttered … “People don’t like me for some reason.” (John Couey) Gee, ya think? Funny how most people are adverse to kidnapping, child rapists and murderers.
The trial of John Couey, accused monster who kidnapped, raped and murdered Jessica Lunsford, begins Monday. Jury selection is set to begin and the trial will be held in Miami rather than Citrus County where the crime was committed.
The trial was moved 300 miles to Miami from Citrus County, where the crime occurred, because of intense pretrial media coverage. That coverage has included the passage of tougher sex offender laws in Florida and at least 18 other states and spurred creation of the first-ever coordinated Justice Department effort to track down noncompliant offenders nationwide, such as those who fail to register or aren’t living where they are supposed to.
The trial could be held on the moon, John Couey will not escape the heinous acts that he did. Once again this morning the defence tried to delay the trial from going forward. Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Richard Howard denied the motion. Let’s face it Couey … its time to face the justice that you have so rightfully earned.
”The fact of the matter is, this case is going forward,” said Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Richard Howard, who denied a request for a delay by attorneys for defendant John Evander Couey. (Miami Herald)
There is one of the most unbelievable articles in The Tampa Tribune that discusses the victim-hood of John Evander Couey … or Johnny as they refer to him … “Every Way He Turned, Couey Always Landed In Trouble.” Let us never forget what this beast did to a poor innocent young girl. Let us not forget he buried her alive. Let us never forget the innocence of Jessica Lunsford.
Couey later told detectives he knew where she was. For three days, he said, she lived in his closet. For three days, he told detectives in lengthy interviews, he molested her, raped her, then placed her in a pair of trash bags and buried her next to his back steps.
The Tampa Tribune goes on to write a touchy, feely piece on Couey’s trouble filled life and times. Honestly, who cares! Maybe the Tribune may want to spend more ink and paper discussing Jessica Lunsford’s life that will never be. A life cut short in one of the most viscous and heinous ways imaginable.
However, do not worry about John Couey’s troubled life … a Florida jury will see fit to putting him and us out of our misery by handing Couey a guilty sentence and death penalty.
