A 12 person jury has convicted Michael King of the kidnapping, rape and murder of 31 year old Denise Amber Lee. Thankfully, it took the jury less than three hours to find this waste of human debris guilty and the recommend that King deserves to die for his crime.
The death penalty vote serves as a recommendation for Judge Deno Economou, who will sentence King later this fall.
Minutes after handing down the decision, three female jurors agreed to talk with reporters about the three-week trial and the vote for death.
Philippa Steele started by reading a statement, “This was an extremely difficult decision to make. Our hearts go out to both families because we realize both have suffered.”

Denise Amber Lee went missing on January 17, 2008 when she was abducted from her North Port, FL home by Michael King. Denise Amber Lee would later be found in a shallow grave in Sarasota County.

8 year old Robert Manwill has been missing since Friday, July 24, 2009 in Boise, Idaho. 
Robert Grant Manwill was last seen at home leaving his apartment complex at approximately 9:30 pm in the 2800 block of West Cherry Lane. Boise Police believe the boy may have been headed to a party at an unknown friends’ house when he left.
Robert Manwill Description:
- 4 feet, 2 inches tall
- about 50 pounds
- wearing blue jeans, black shoes, and either a brown shirt with the words, “Andy don’t need no Mic” or a blue shirt with a superman symbol on the front
Boise police continue search for missing boy with the help of rescue dogs
Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue were called in Saturday morning. Five dogs are searching the area that includes two large canals and the Boise apartment complex where Robert lives near Vista Avenue.
Chris Harry, operations leader with the search and rescue team said the dogs turned up no trace of Robert Saturday afternoon.

20 FBI agents are in the area, and more could be on the way at a moment’s notice to help find Manwill.
“We’re leaving no stone unturned in that investigation,” Kerns said. “We’re looking at all of the potential leads. We’re looking at all possibilities in our attempt to find out what’s happened to Robert.”

Authorities searched the home and blue Suburban of Evan Wallis after bloodhounds picked up a scent on his Suburban. Wallis says he welcomes authorities to search his yard and house as he has three boys of his own. Wallis also states that his Suburban “was stolen on July 22, just two days before Robert disappeared. Then it turned back up on Monday and Wallis notified the Ada County Sheriff’s Office.”

UPDATE III: Boise Police Say that Robert Manwill May be the Victim of a Tragic Event
For the first time, Boise Police admit missing 8-year-old boy Robert Manwill’s disappearance is suspicious. At a press conference Friday afternoon, Deputy Chief Jim Kerns revealed police found evidence to indicate Robert may be injured or the victim of a tragic event. Police would not say what evidence they found.
Also Friday, a crime scene van was seen at the Ada County Landfill. A portion of the landfill was marked off with crime scene tape. Boise Police will not confirm or deny if the crime scene van is related to the search for Robert Manwill.
UPDATE IV: Landfill Searched as Thousands Look for Missing Idaho Boy (8/1/09)
Officers roped off an area of the Hidden Hollow Landfill to weed through garbage dumped the day after Robert vanished, the Idaho Statesman said.
Thousands of volunteers helped look for Robert Friday night, one week after he disappeared. Boise police said more than 2,300 searchers combed the city in an effort to find the child.

“Our leads are narrowing and becoming more specific,” Kerns said Saturday. “The Southdale residence became an area of interest due to a developing lead in the investigation - that location is one of many areas of interest.”
UPDATE VI: Body Found in Canal Cannot be confirmed as eight year old Robert Manwill
Sadly a body matching the description of 8 year old Robert Manwill has been found in a canal. However, the police cannot positively ID the body without an autopsy. According to reports, the body matches the size and age of Robert Manwill.
The Ada County Sheriff’s Office has found the body of a young male in the New York Canal in Boise. It was found near Deer Flat Road and South Cloverdale. That canal flows near where eight-year old Robert Manwill went missing ten days ago.
However, the body cannot be identified as Robert. Until an autopsy is performed Tuesday, we will not know the identity of the body. Police have indicated at Monday afternoon’s press conference that the description of the body is similar to that of Robert.

Kudos to the Feds & NY State Police.
Chalk another one up for the good guys. Federal authorities and New York State police have arrested eleven people in upstate New York in connection with an investigation into child pornography distributed over the Internet.
The arrests this week followed an investigation that led to 17 federal search warrants, U.S. Attorney Andrew Baxter said Friday. The defendants, ranging in age from 18 to 58, are charged with receipt of child pornography. Some are charged with distribution. All could face at least five years in federal prison, prosecutors said.
Authorities said computer images depicting sex with prepubescent children, including toddlers, were posted and downloaded on an Internet file-sharing server. They declined to discuss other details or explain exactly how they identified the 11 suspects.
U.S. Attorney Andrew Baxter went on to say that every image of child porn and every image downloaded depicts a crime scene of abuse of a child.
“One of the things I don’t think people necessarily realize is that every image of child pornography depicts a crime scene of abuse of a child,” Baxter said. “Child pornography is created by the abuse of real live people, real live children. So that the demand for those images created by people downloading and trading pornography triggers abuse down the line.”

Sadly, although not unexpected authorities have confirmed that the body found buried beneath a layer of concrete along the River Raisin in Raisinville Township last Thursday by a fisherman was that of 5 year old missing Nevaeh Buchanan.
Authorities say a girl’s body found buried along a Michigan river has been confirmed as that of 5-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan, missing since last month.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s office said in a statement Tuesday that DNA testing positively identified her. An autopsy and further tests were being conducted to determine what caused her death and when.

DNA testing results concluded that Nevaeh indeed was found by fishermen Thursday beneath a layer of concrete along the River Raisin in Raisinville Township, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said this afternoon.
Investigators did not release a cause of death, nor is anyone in custody. The girl disappeared May 24 from her apartment complex.
Though Sheriff Tilman Crutchfield said Friday that the girl found near the river likely was Nevaeh, family members held out hope the girl might still be alive.

Paedophile Raymond Hewlett has allegedly said he saw Madeleine McCann twice before she vanished.
The Briton, 62, has previously insisted he was miles from Praia da Luz in the Portuguese Algarve when the three-year-old went missing in May 2007.
But yesterday he reportedly implied he had been close enough to see Maddie’s distinctive flaw in her right eye.
However, it appears that in order for this previously convicted pedophile to come clean on where he was the night that Maddie McCann went missing, he wants to be paid.
Kate and Gerry McCann’s spokesman yesterday said it was now ‘imperative’ cancer-stricken Hewlett is interviewed before he dies.
But he has told private detectives employed by the couple he will only reveal where he was the night Maddie vanished if they pay him thousands of pounds. The request has been refused.
Sadly, this sick, twisted poor excuse for a human being is playing games with the parents of Maddie McCann. With probably only weeks to live as Raymond Hewlett is dying of throat cancer, it appears that he will be evil to the very end.
But a McCann family friend added: ‘It is impossible to know whether to believe anything Hewlett says.’
Friends of the McCanns say they are deeply suspicious of his motives after it was revealed that Hewlett has been trying to cash in on the tragedy by demanding money for answers.
A source close to the couple, who is refusing to pay up, said: ‘He is playing a very dangerous game.
‘He may think he is about to land the jackpot but if he is putting it about that he saw Madeleine, he might find some big policemen banging on his door instead.’
Until the truth of the alleged claims can be ascertained, the investigators are more anxious than ever to interview Hewlett.

Raymond Hewlett, is this man responsible for the disappearance of Maddie McCann?
64 year old Raymond Hewlett, a convicted British pedophile who has been responsible for numerous sex attacks against young girls during the past 40 years was once considered a prime suspect in the case of missing, then 3 year old Madeleine McCann. Hewlett was reported to be living about one hours away from the resort of Praia da Luz, in Portugal where Maddie McCain went missing in April of 2007. Hewlett was staying with his family in a motor home an hour’s drive from the McCanns’ apartment in Praia da Luz.
New information may have the convicted sex offender once again linked to the disappearance of Madelein McCann.

When sex offenders go missing … it can only mean more crimes in the future as sex predators fall below the radar of authorities.
England, Wales and Scotland has a serious missing persons case on their hands. The problem and the severity is that it is not one missing person, but hundreds. The BBC is reporting that 317 sex offenders were reported as missing or unaccounted for. Since it is common for sex offenders to re-offend, one might think this to be a major issue as to the lack of tracking of sexual predators.
The figures, for three-quarters of the police forces in England, Wales and Scotland, were disclosed to the BBC after a Freedom of Information request.
Data supplied by 38 police forces showed 317 sex offenders were reported as missing or unaccounted for.
In January 2007, a significantly higher number of forces - 49 - reported that 322 sex offenders were missing.

25 year old Laura Garza has been missing since Wednesday 
morning, December 3, 2008. Laura Garza from Bay Ridge was last seen leaving a Manhattan nightclub, The Marquee, at 4 am with two men. Police fear that she may have been harmed by a convicted sex offender. Police described Garza as 5-feet-2 and 120 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.
“We suspect foul play and are concerned for her safety,” NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said yesterday.
Police last night were questioning one of the two men, a 25-year-old once convicted of a sex crime, after going to his home in Wallkill, in upstate Orange County.
Investigators did not find Garza at the house, but they found a piece of carpet mysteriously cut out from its place on the floor, a police source said. Blood stains were also found in the house.
Laura Garza was captured on club video tape reported leaving the night club with two men willingly. However, did Laura Garza know who or what she was leaving the club with?
At some point, Garza split up from her friend and was captured on video leaving the location with her dancing partner and another man.
She appeared to have left with them willingly, and didn’t look intoxicated, police sources said.
Sources said the men drove with her upstate. At some point, one got out and went home.
Witnesses at the club told cops that the men with whom Garza was spotted leaving were “regulars,” and were able to identify them. This led cops to the upstate home of the sex offender, sources said.
Investigators believe that whatever happened to Garza occurred upstate, and the New York State Police are now leading the investigation.
Two Men questioned in the case of missing Laura Garza
On Friday night, the police were questioning two people they suspected were involved in Ms. Garza’s disappearance, said Paul J. Browne, the chief police spokesman.
“We suspect foul play and are concerned for her safety,” he said. “Detectives identified two men who were seen leaving the club with her and determined that both of them reside outside the city in upstate New York.”

UPDATE I: ‘BLOODY SUV’ IN CLUB-GAL HUNT PERV’S CALL TO PAL EYED IN LAURA GARZA ‘MURDER’
Cops hunting a woman who disappeared from a Manhattan nightclub towed a bloodstained SUV from their prime suspect’s upstate family home today - hours after the sexual deviant called a pal begging him not to speak to police, sources said.
Investigators searched lakes and a wooded area near Michael Mele’s family’s Middletown house for Laura Garza, 25, whose case is being treated as a homicide.
Another police source said bloodstains were found in the SUV.
Cops also said they found a piece of carpet mysteriously cut out in an apartment Mele maintains near the family home. More blood was allegedly found in the house.
Neighbors said landscapers working on the property discovered a knife, which they turned over to police.
UPDATE II: Man seen with missing NYC woman jailed in Rockland
The Rockland County Sheriff’s Department says 23-year-old Michael Mele, a registered sex offender, is being held on $50,000 bail.
Detective Lt. William Barbera says Mele violated the terms of his probation by consuming alcohol and by failing to report to his probation officer. Mele’s attorney did not return a message seeking comment.
Mele and another man were seen leaving a Manhattan nightclub early Wednesday with 25-year-old Laura Garza.
UPDATE III: Police divers now searching east side of Echo Lake for Garza
State police divers are now searching the east side of Echo Lake in their continued search for clues about the disappearance of Brooklynite Laura Garza.
Seven divers have been at the lake since this morning, working in bitterly-cold water and under the 5-inch-thick ice.
They’s been working by feel in the water that’s obscured by mud and silt. The lake is split by Echo Lake Road in the Town of Wawayanda. Having finished a search of the west side of the lake, divers turned their attention Thursday afternoon to the east side.
Police divers were last at Echo Lake on Dec. 23, 2008.

The police in Reno, NV have arrested 27 year old James Biela in connection with the murder of 19 year old college student Brianna Denison. James Biela was booked at the Washoe County Jail and charged with murder, first-degree kidnapping and sexual assault. James Biela was arrested at the Stepping Stones Children’s Center where he was dropping off his son. Reno police have taken DNA evidence from Biela and stated that it would take 12 hours to process.

Police spokesman Steve Frady issued a one-sentence news release announcing a news conference at 10:30 a.m. today. He would not say whether the suspect was arrested in Reno or elsewhere.
19 year old Brianna Denison disappeared January 20, 2008 and whose body was later found in a field in South Reno on February 15, 2008. At the time of the recovery police stated they had found DNA evidence at the scene of the crime that they say links the suspect to other sexual assaults near the UNR campus.
Police said they recovered DNA evidence at the scene that would link a suspect to the crime. The DNA samples also linked Denison’s killer to three other sexually related attacks on women at or near UNR from October to December 2007.
Could police have finally found a serial rapist that has been connected to at least 3 reported assualts in the Reno area?

The news is not unsuspected, but tragic none the less. There is sad news tonight out of the state of Vermont. The body of 12 year old Brooke Bennett was found dead at approximately 4:45 EDT. The police called the death “clearly suspicious” but declined to give details before a planned briefing Thursday morning. With the news of the arrest of Brooke Bennett’s uncle, step father and talk of a sex ring … one suspected that this would not be a pleasant outcome.
Rest in peace Brooke, from all that we have heard with arrests and sick behavior in this family … Brooke is finally at peace and safe.
BETHEL, Vt. - The body of a missing 12-year-old whose uncle allegedly planned to force her into a sex ring the day she disappeared was found Wednesday in Randolph, not far from his house.
State Police Director Col. James Baker said Brooke Bennett’s body was found about 4:45 p.m. and her family had been notified.
The uncle, Michael Jacques, has been in custody since Sunday on charges of aggravated sexual assault against a different underage girl. He has pleaded not guilty.
Brooke Bennett’s body was found a few miles from the home of her uncle, Michael Jacques who was arrested on June 29, 2008 and charged with the sexual assault of another minor. Michael Jacques was the last person seen with Brooke Bennett on June 25 prior to her disappearance.
