Police are searching 1 of the Finger Lakes for two young men reported missing after they failed to return from a camping trip.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Office says 19-year-old Floyd Frey of Canandaigua and 20-year-old Randal Lis of Victor went camping Wednesday but weren’t back home the following day as expected.
Authorities say they were on an overnight outing at a trailer park in Middlesex, on Canandaigua Lake’s southeast shore 35 miles south of Rochester.
Deputies say the car with their camping equipment inside was found near a boat launch at the camping site. Officials say their canoe is apparently missing.
State police and deputies from Yates and neighboring Ontario County were searching the area Friday.

Sad new to report in the search for the two missing boater. The body of 19 year old Floyd Fey was recovered.
On Saturday, the body of Floyd “Zach” Frey, 19, of Canandaigua, was found in 18 feet of water about 200 feet off shore, according to Yates County Sheriff’s officials.
The body of one of two men reported missing Friday on Canandaigua Lake has been recovered. It is presumed that missing Randal Lis has drowned.
Spike said the two men are believed to have gone canoeing shortly after arriving at the trailer park in Lis’ vehicle.
“Indications are they capsized and both drowned as the water temperature is approximately 41 degrees,” Spike said.
Articles of clothing and the canoe were recovered Friday 0.25 miles north of Vine Valley, according to Spike.

A 13 year old runaway girl from Long Island, NY has been found safe as 22 year old John Vertrees was arrested and hauled off a western bound Amtrak train in Rochester after 11 p.m. and was charged with unlawful imprisonment.
Vertrees, of Sacramento, Calif., traveled to Rocky Point and climbed into the girl’s bedroom window to spend a few hours with her on Wednesday, Suffolk County police said.
The girl used the window to slip out of her house at 4 a.m. Friday and left with Vertrees in a taxi, investigators said.
Suffolk police said they used phone and computer records to identify a suspect. Investigators said they believed Vertrees was headed back to California with the girl.
John Vertrees was nabbed on a train bound for California as he lay sleeping in a car with a 13 year old Long Island girl he had met on the Internet.
After the two met in an Internet chat room in January, Vertrees traveled to the teenager’s home last week, police said.

- 220 pounds
- medium complexion

Investigators said they have since traced Reynolds’ Internet activity to a computer at a home on the 200 block of Cemetery Road. They think she went to the home after going to the library.
Investigators said the man who owns the residence where Reynolds accessed the computer is a person of interest in her disappearance.
Police Trace Facebook To Find Missing Woman
Police say she logged off her account around lunchtime last Monday at the public library.
Then, around 1:40 in the afternoon she checked back in using a computer located in this neighborhood.
There’s been no sign of her since.
“That’s the key piece of the puzzle,“ Williams said.
Her family says it was out of character for her not to come home.
“Stayed to herself, very shy, you know, ordinary teenager, just loved computers,“ said Reynold’s cousin Frederick Lassiter.
Jalesa Reynolds didn’t have a computer at home.
So, she came to this library almost every day to use the internet and Facebook.
Police continue to search for missing Jalesa Reynolds, search the residence where she last logged on to Facebook and seized the computer.
Chief Joe Williams says records indicate she logged onto a social networking Web site around 11 a.m. At 1:39 p.m., she logged onto a computer at a residence on Cemetary Road, which is about 1.5 miles northwest of town. Police believe she left the home between 2 and 3 p.m.
Williams says officers questioned the owner of the residence and seized his computer. The machine is being examined by the SBI in Raleigh.
ABC11 Eyewitness News has learned the house where police believe Reynolds last logged onto a computer is also the home of a registered sex offender.
Police won’t say what role – if any – it may play in Reynolds’s disappearance.
The fact that a convicted sex offender lives at the residence that Jalesa Reynolds is on record to have been in can’t be a good sign. Dwayne Davis is being considered a person of interest.
WITN News has learned that a convicted sex offender lives at a home where deputies say a missing teenager was last seen more than a week ago.
The North Carolina Sex Offender Registry says Dwayne Davis lives at 285 Cemetery Road in Scotland Neck. That’s where police say Jalesa Reynolds was last heard from a week ago Monday. Davis served six years of a 15 year sentence from Martin County for second degree rape and was released from prison in 2000.
A law enforcement source tells WITN that Davis is a person of interest in the case.
Anyone with information about Reynolds’ whereabouts is asked to contact Scotland Neck police at 252-826-4111.

Family members said they checked into Great Parnasus Hotel last Saturday and Amy Vargas disappeared on Thursday shortly after she spoke to her mother by phone.
“She said, ‘I’m with grandma. I’m fine. I love you and I’ll see you soon,’” said Vargas’ mother D’An Simmons.

Simmons is preparing to fly to Chicago, where she will make a plea for an emergency passport to travel to Mexico to help in an effort to find Vargas.
