Mikalena Nau has been missing since February 4th. She was last seen using an ATM machine near her home. Even though the body of Mikalena Nau has not been found, police believe that she is no longer alive.
Action News has learned of several new developments in the investigation into the disappearance of Mikalena Nau who lived on Elbridge. Most importantly, this investigation has now been handed over to the homicide division. While police have not found Nau’s body, they do have reason to believe that Nau is no longer alive and while it may just be a coincidence, they want to know if her disappearance is connected to the murder of an acquaintance of hers last week.
Until now, Action News has learned that in the last 24 hours, homicide detectives took over the investigation. Nau’s mother believes the move means more resources will join the search for her daughter, dead or alive.

Jennifer Kesse has been missing since January 23 and now it appears that previously donated reward money to find Jennifer Kesse is being pulled. With a girl missing it is unfortunate that such a conflict exists whereas reward money will soon be pulled from the missing persons case.
An anonymous resident who donated $100,000 of reward money in the Jennifer Kesse missing person case is pulling the cash after a “behind the scenes” conflict with Crimeline, according to a Local 6 News report.
Tuesday, the anonymous donor said the $100,000 will be pulled by March 15. The move is supposed to help the case and force someone to come forward this month.
However, there is a behind the scenes conflict between the anonymous donor and Crimeline, Local 6 reporter Louis Bolden said.
The controversy lies in the condition to collect the reward, according to the report.
The controversy is over the following wording:
The donor has reportedly said from the time the donation was made that the money was to only to be paid if Jennifer Kesse is returned home safely, the report said.
But the money was turned over to Crimeline and the organization offers rewards for information leading to arrests even if the person is not returned.
(Local 6)
Let’s just hope and pray, reward money or not Jennifer Kesse is found safe.

Police searched a Juneau County Landfill located near Mauston in pursuit of finding 36 year old Jean Zapata, a 30-year-old missing person case. Jean Zapata mysteriously disappeared from her home in 1976. Police stated they were acting on a tip.
Up to two dozen law enforcement personnel conducted the search and could continue their search throughout the week. An unnamed source close to the case told WISC-TV that detectives are searching the area for human remains.
Police said that they are acting on a tip that led them to the landfill located off Ceylon Road.
The landfill search follows earlier ones where cadaver dogs picked up the scent of decomposing human remains at Zapata’s former Madison home and at a Sun Prairie storage locker last year.

Shelby County firefighters used a sonar device to search for James Crook, his son, David Crook and friend Hilbert Bradley. They have been missing since Tuesday when they went fishing in the area of the Blakeley and Apalachee rivers.
Search teams have recovered life jackets, ice chests and a gas tank from Blakeley and Apalachee rivers, items that friends and family said they recognized. That debris is evidence that the men had an accident in their 12-foot boat Tuesday, authorities have said.
In an accident, the missing men would have had to fight cold water, strong winds and possibly hypothermia, Miller said. Under those conditions, the chances of survival have decreased, he said, but they could still be alive.

Three missing fishermen apparent victims of boating accident
“We’re convinced there has been a boating accident,” said Ken Eslava, of the Daphne Search and Rescue Team.
On Thursday, the North Baldwin Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team searched the Apalachee River with a dog trained to locate human bodies.
Divers also probed the bottom of Blakeley River for possible remains of the boat or the missing men, said Rick Miller, a spokesman for the Alabama Marine Police.

Mikalena Nau, 37, has missing now for several weeks since February 4. Authorities have stated that Nau was last seen Feb. 4 withdrawing $100 from an ATM near her home.
Capt. Benjamin Naish, a police spokesman, said Nau was last seen Feb. 4 withdrawing $100 from an ATM near her home on the 1100 block of Elbridge Street.
Nau – who is single, has no children, and lives alone – has not been seen or heard from since.
Nau is slender, stands 5-foot-4 and weighs 105 pounds, with dark hair that hangs below her shoulders. She also uses the name Rachel, police said.
A missing-person report twas filed for Mikalena Nau on February 16. Four days after the report was filed, Nau’s car was located.
Four days after that, Naish said, authorities found Nau’s Mercedes-Benz in the 5700 block of Keystone Street in the Tacony section, about four miles from her home.
It was parked on the street near an apartment building. Her purse was found near the car by someone who turned it in to authorities, Naish said.
Authorities are not aware that anything was stolen from the car or purse, but they are still processing the vehicle, he said.

UPDATE: Police voiced concern about possible foul play in the case of Michelle Nau of Phila., last seen Feb. 4.
Philadelphia police detectives on Friday asked the FBI to provide a “cadaver dog” to help in the search for Michelle “Mikalena” Nau, the Northeast Philadelphia woman who has not been seen or heard from for a month.
FBI agent Jerri Williams, a spokeswoman for the bureau’s Philadelphia Division, said she did not know if police needed the dog to search a specific area.
Detectives, meanwhile, are “concerned that foul play may be involved,” said Capt. Benjamin Naish, a police spokesman. He would not elaborate.
Naish said he would not comment about a media report indicating that a 911 call was made from Nau’s cell phone the day she was last seen.
Additional details surfaced about Nau’s life. Many saw Nau as a free spirit whose life touched very different worlds.
