Taiza Thomsen, 24, represented Brazil at the 2003 Miss Universe pageant in Panama. She has been missing according to her family and the police are not ruling out human trafficking.
SAO PAULO, Brazil — Police said Saturday they weren’t discarding the possibility that human trafficking played a role in the disappearance of a former Miss Brazil who hasn’t contacted her family since September.
Taiza Thomsen, 24, represented Brazil at the 2003 Miss Universe pageant in Panama. The last time she spoke to her parents, she said she was in London.
“At this moment we can’t rule out anything, not even the possibility she was a victim of human trafficking,” police investigator Marcos David Salem told Brazilian TV.
The family thinks that Taiza was being threatened.
Thomsen’s family has said that in some of their conversations before she went missing, she left them with the feeling that she was being threatened. The family did not elaborate.
However, her friends think something else may have occurred.
According to some of her friends, Thomsen had worked briefly in Belgium and there was a possibility she was still there, media reported.
A friend said Saturday that she talked to Thomsen over the phone about three months ago, Brazil’s RBS TV reported. (Washington Post)
UPDATE I: Missing Miss Brazil found in UK
It appears that all the worry over missing 24 year old, ex- Miss Brazile Taiza Thomsen, was for nothing.
Taiza Thomsen, 24, contacted police in London after a global investigation was launched to locate her.
She said she did not want to be bothered by anyone, even her parents, who last spoke to her in September
But the former beauty queen told police she was “doing well in London and that she didn’t want to be found, not even by her parents.”
Investigators said it didn’t appear that she was being pressured or coerced by anybody and that the case would now be closed. (The Sun)

Charles Arlin Henderson was 11 when he disappeared in 1991. Charles Arlin Henderson went missing from his home in Moscow Mills, MO while riding his bike. Could the two abductions be connected? The scenario sounds so familiar to those of Shawn Hornbeck. The description of Charles Arlin Henderson also seem very close to the other two boys. Go here for time enhanced pictures. Although the police have yet to find any link with Devlin and the missing Arlin Henderson, we do know that pedophiles commit many acts against children before they are ever caught. When the police went into the apartment of Michael Devlin in connection with missing William “Ben”Ownby, they never thought they would find Shawn Hornbeck either.
Charles Arlin Henderson
Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies said Wednesday that Devlin is now the “most viable lead” in the investigation into the 1991 disappearance of Charles Arlin Henderson of Moscow Mills. Both Shawn and Charles vanished at age 11 while riding their bikes on a rural road about an hour’s drive from St. Louis. Both boys were slight, weighing about 100 pounds, and had close-cropped hair. “If you were to take a photo of Arlin Henderson and you place it next to Shawn’s picture, there is a striking resemblance,” sheriff’s Lt. Rick Harrell said. (Fox News)

Mo. suspect eyed in unsolved kidnapping Michael Devlin is the “most viable lead” in the case of Charles Arlin Henderson, who was 11 when he disappeared in 1991 and has never been found, Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies said. Devlin was arrested last week after police found two kidnapped boys in his apartment in suburban Kirkwood: 13-year-old boy Ben Ownby, who was taken Jan. 8, and 15-year-old Shawn Hornbeck, who vanished 4 1/2 years ago. The long-missing boy, known as Arlin, was, like Ben and Shawn, about 100 pounds and from a rural town about an hour from St. Louis. Both Shawn and Arlin vanished at age 11 while riding their bikes. UPDATE: Deborah Henderson-Griffith, Mother Of Child Missing Since 1991 Still Looking For Answers
ST. LOUIS, MO — The mother of another missing child is hoping that the rescue of Ben Ownby and Shawn Hornbeck will lead to some answers for her family. Her son, Arlin Henderson, vanished in 1991 under very similar circumstances.
Deborah Henderson-Griffith says there have been few leads that point to where her son might be or what happened to him. She is now praying the ongoing investigation into Michael Devlin’s past will at least begin to provide some answers. (First Coast News)

It had been speculated for quite some time that the individual in custody on an unrelated charge, Justin Thurber, was the main suspect in the murder of Jodi Sanderholm. Today the Kansas AG has charged Justin Thurber with the rape and murder of Jodi Leann Sanderholm.
Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison and Cowley County Attorney Christopher Smith today filed charges against Justin Eugene Thurber for the murder of Jodi Leann Sanderholm. Thurber has been charged with Capital Murder, Rape and Aggravated Kidnapping.
Authorities believe Thurber kidnapped Sanderholm following her dance practice on Friday, January 5th. According to police, he then drove her to a rural part of southeast Cowley County where she was raped and murdered. Police also allege that Thurber then disposed of Sanderholm’s car in the Cowley County State Fishing Lake. (KWCH)
Charges announced in Jodi Sanderholm case
The evidence shows Sanderholm was kidnapped at midday Jan. 5, raped and strangled within about three hours, Morrison said.
Authorities had said last week they were preparing charges against a suspect already in the Cowley County Jail on unrelated charges.
Thurber was taken into custody the weekend Sanderholm disappeared. (Kansas City.com)
Justin Thurber seems to have quite the frequent issue when it comes to breaking the law.
On Jan. 1, Thurber was charged with false impersonation and disorderly conduct. Thurber has also been charged with burglary, forgery, theft and drug possession.
Two women have also accused Thurber of stalking and have filed protection petitions in Winfield and Arkansas City.

Michael Keith Moore has been charged with the murder of disappearance of Rachel Cooke. Rachel Cooke has been missing on January 10, 2002. I had the opportunity to meet Robert Cooke, Rachel’s dad in Aruba searching for Natalee Holloway. We were actually roommates in Aruba and discussed his daughter’s disappearance back in July of 2005. My heart goes out to Robert, his wife and their family that they may get justice for Rachel.
The document obtained by KXAN charges Moore with killing Cooke by “striking her with a hammer, by suffocating her, by some manner and means unknown, or by a combination of these acts.”
These type of filings are usually presented when the person suspected of the crime has agreed to plead guilty. But that is not what happened. (KXAN)
Moore pleaded not guilty even though he had previously agreed to plead guilty to the crimes but double crossed District Attorney John Bradley
Bradley is not happy. He was promised a guilty plea by Moore, only to be duped by a not-guilty plea at the last minute. Why it happened is anybody’s guess.
(Michael Moore)
However, seeing that Michael Keith Moore having already been convicted to 3 life sentences it is not all that difficult to understand why this piece of human debris would do such a thing. He has previously been convicted of killing Christina Moore. Michael Keith Moore had contacted the Willaims County Sheriff’s department and told them things regarding Rachel Cooke’s murder that only the killer would know.
As the sheriff points out, it was Moore who called them in August, wanting to confess details that…
“Only the person that was involved in the abduction and obviously the slaying of Rachel Cooke could have known,” Williamson County Sheriff James Wilson said.
So what’s next? Did Moore pull a fast one on the DA or did he set himself up for an even harsher penalty by mocking the system and the authorities? Two things they’re sure of…
“His confession was in all likelihood true,” Wilson said.
Hopefully the DA will file charges against Moore and ask for the death sentence, something he has so richly earned and deserves. (Check out his criminal past)
Rachel Cooke’s Parents Speak Out
Her father told KXAN that he couldn’t believe Moore would put them through this situation and string them along.
“We feel like we were being victimized a second time. But we’ve developed a new motto today, and that’s, ‘We’re not done yet,’” Robert Cooke, Rachel Cooke’s father, said.
“He has decided to play with us a little bit, but we’re still here. We’re not going away,” Janet Cooke, Rachel Cooke’s mother, said. (KXAN)
Why Moore May Have Changed His Plea
District Judge Jon Wisser says he’s seen people confess for all sorts of reasons.
“Maybe they just want to get out of jail. Maybe they want to get in front of the television cameras again,” Wisser said.
This is what Williamson County Sheriff James Wilson says about Moore’s confession.
“It was pretty obvious that he had to have been there, had to have been in the location,” Wilson said on Thursday. (KXAN)

Jason Young, the husband of murdered and pregnant Michelle Young was ordered by a judge to provide investigators with fingerprints, blood samples and other forms of evidence. Jason Young has been named a suspect. The case somewhat resembles the Entwistle murder where the wife was found murdered in her home, husband was not present. However, in that case, sadly, the young child was killed as well.
Young, 32, is named as a suspect on the order, however, he was not required to make a statement, nor was he subject to interrogation, according to Willoughby. Detectives had already seized his car as part of their investigation.
Young has not been charged with anything. A call to his attorney for comment was not returned Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Sheriff’s office, Jason Young complied with the order and went to the City-County Bureau of Identification.
According to the North Carolina general statutes, sheriff’s investigators can use a nontestimonial order to obtain an array of material evidence including fingerprints, palm prints, footprints, blood specimens, hair samples, voice samples and photographs.
Willoughby said the order is less intrusive procedure than a search warrant that requires a lower standard of proof.
“A search warrant requires probable cause, but with a nontestimonial order you are only required to have reasonable suspicion to suspect some person,” Willoughby said Wednesday. (News Observer)

The body of Michelle M. Young, 29, was found in her home outside of Raleigh, NC dead. Young was formerly a cheerleader, Michelle Fisher, at Sayville High School in Long Island. Michelle Young was four months pregnant. Cassidy, her 2 year old daughter was by her side when Michelle’s body was found unaware that her mother was dead.
The Wake County sheriff’s office is treating the incident as a homicide and authorities have recently begun speaking with Jason Young, the husband, who was away on a business trip the day her body was found, according to the Raleigh News & Observer.
“It was a violent death,” Phyllis Stephens, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office told the newspaper. The reported cause of death was blunt force trauma. (News Day)

Slain Mother Laid To Rest; Case Draws National Attention
Family members and friends Thursday gathered for the funeral of a young mother who was found dead in her Raleigh home.
Flowers draped the casket and the song “Isn’t She Lovely” played during the service. But friends of Michelle Young said it did not do their friend justice. (WRAL)

It is a mystery as to who murdered Michelle Young in her home. Investigators search the crime scene and interview witnesses. Authorities think Young was murdered sometime between midnight to about 6:00 AM Friday morning.
“It’s a mystery. That is what’s so gripping about it,” Van Susteren told WRAL Thursday evening. “People are supposed to be safe in their homes, but they’re not, as demonstrated by this woman.”
Investigators said Young had been at home with friends until about 10:30 p.m. the night before her body was found. Her husband, Jason Young, told authorities he was out of town on business when his sister-in-law, Meredith Fisher, found his wife’s body.
Fisher told authorities she had received a call from Jason Young asking her to go to his house to pick up something. Authorities said it was a fax.
Slain Woman’s Husband Comes Under Scrutiny
Jason Young, 32, was responding to a court order that allows authorities to take physical evidence from someone close to a criminal case. He arrived with attorney Roger W. Smith Jr. at the City County Bureau of Identification at the Wake County Public Safety Center.
Young’s wife, Michelle Young, 29, died last week from blunt force trauma, according to preliminary autopsy reports. She was also about 20 weeks pregnant with her second child at the time.
Under law, the basis for the non-testimonial order is when “there are reasonable grounds to suspect the person named or described in the affidavit committed the offense.” Detectives can collect blood samples and DNA samples as well as fingerprints, Wake County District Attorney Colon Willoughby said. Kimberlee Ramsey, 15, and Cody Birdwell, 17, Missing in Galveston, TX have been missing for 10 days. What makes this case even more intriguing is that a third teen also went missing, 15 year old Terressa Vanegas. Vanegas was found dead in a field last week. Apparently she was killed after leaving a Halloween party. Terressa Vabegas and Kimberlee Ramsey are best friends.
Texas EquuSearch has been volunteering in the efforts to search for the missing teens. Texas EquuSearch is assisting Terressa Vanegas’ family with funeral arrangements and support during this difficult time.
The search will continue with dogs and more Equusearch volunteers. There is no real evidence to suggest the teens are in the area that is being searched, but there is a lot of concern, given what happened there only last week.
Just a few yards from a football field, a search is underway for two teens who haven’t been seen by their families for 10 days. The search was occurring on the same day funeral services were being held for Terressa Vanegas, 15. Her body was found last week near the same field.
Vanegas had apparently been killed Halloween night after leaving a party. Vanegas and Kimberlee Ramsey, the missing girl, were best friends. Their friends are now frightened by the connection.
Ramsey, 15, has run away from home before. Last month she returned from a camp in Utah for problem adolescents. She disappeared from her Bacliff home two days before Vanegas went missing.
“We think she’s still around our area somewhere,” said Rodney Ramsey, Kimberlee’s father. (ABC – KTRK)
Description of Kimberlee Ramsey:
- 5 feet, 8 inches tall
- about 155 pounds
- green eyes
- brown hair with blond highlights
- She was last seen wearing jeans, a blue football jersey and black house shoes.
If anyone has any information please call Texas EquuSearch at 281–309–9500 or the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office at 409–766–2322.

” A California doctor is accused of taking hundreds of photographs of different patients while they were unconscious and semi-nude at his medical clinic.
A $1 million arrest warrant has been issued for Dr. Tony Shiu, who also is accused of sexually battering two men at his home. Shiu is in private practice in Dublin, Calif. However, he disappeared after the warrant was issued. Authorities believe he has left the San Francisco Bay area.
A search of Shiu’s home turned up about 450 digital photographs of 19 male patients who were unconscious and undressed in medical examination rooms. Only two of the patients photographed have been positively identified, police said. Those patients were not the two men who reported being battered at Shiu’s home. (Local 10)
