52 year old Carolyn Gjendem has been missing since March 1, 2007. Her car has been located abandoned on the side of the road near the 9000 block of Jackson Creek Road.
The Chevy Blazer belonging to Carolyn Gjendem has been found; however, there has been no sign of the missing Castle Rock woman. It is believed that she possibly went hiking and something may have occurred.
The Blazer was found in a popular area where people like to park their vehicles and then hike off along the trails, authorities said.
At least 45 people searched the area Saturday night and Sunday with two ATV crews and two dog teams.
They said they believe she may have gone hiking in the area, but the melting snow has created difficult hiking conditions and slippery terrain with deep banks and some false creek beds. (The Denver Channel)
Missing Castle Rock woman’s car found
So far, there has been no indication of criminal activity in Gjendem’s disappearance, said Paul Miller, a spokesman and member of Douglas County Search and Rescue.
Castle Rock police filed a missing-person report Thursday, the day Gjendem was supposed to arrive at the home of family members. Gjendem’s family told police she was last seen Wednesday.
In a statement, Castle Rock police said nothing appeared out of order at Gjendem’s home, but her mobile phone was found left in her room. (Denver Post)
Sunday search fails to find missing Castle Rock woman
Nearly 50 rescuers searched a rugged hiking area in sometimes knee-deep snow Sunday for a Castle Rock woman who has been missing for four days.
But there were no signs of Carolyn Gjendem, 52, who may have gone hiking in the Pike National Forest at the edge of unincorporated Douglas County, said Douglas County Search and Rescue spokeswoman Debrah Schnackenberg
Missing hiker’s body found, Authorities yet to rule out foul play
Carolyn Gjendem, 52, was found Monday afternoon behind a boulder off in a remote area of Rampart Range Road, about six miles from where her Chevy Blazer was parked near a trailhead.
Late Monday afternoon, authorities could not rule out foul play as investigators were working the area.
“We just won’t know until they have completed their work,” said Cocha Heyden, spokeswoman for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department.
An autopsy will be performed Tuesday or Wednesday, and authorities would likely have a positive identification by that time. (

The torso of missing 34 year old Tara Grant has been found in the garage of a Macomb County’s Washington Township home that the couple shared. Tara Grants has been missing since February 9, 2007 and was not reported as missing until 5 days later by her husband.
Investigators found what is believed to be the torso of a 34-year-old suburban wife and mother of two who disappeared last month and are seeking her husband as the suspect in her slaying, the Macomb County sheriff said Saturday. (WFRV)
Her husband, Stephen Grant, is now being sought in the murder of Tara Grant.
Hackel said Stephen Grant was wanted for questioning and was last believed to be driving a white pick-up truck. He said his office was working with county prosecutors to seek murder charges.
“He is the number one and at this time the only suspect in the murder of Tara Lynn Grant,” Hackel told reporters at a news conference in Mount Clemens. (Fox News)
According to reports, Stephen Grant’s attorney has been in contact with his client and trying to make efforts for Stephen to turn himself in. From the outset of this case it had all the similarities of Scott Peterson and his missing wife Lacy Peterson. The peculiar disappearance, the suspicious husband, and the other woman.
Stephen Grant’s lawyer, David Griem, told The Associated Press on Saturday morning that he spoke twice with his client earlier in the day. He said he hoped to arrange for Grant to turn himself in to authorities.
“He was suicidal,” Griem said. “I spent some significant period of time begging him to meet with me and reminding him of all the reasons why he had to live: the foremost being a 4-year-old and a 6-year-old who love him very much.”
Griem said his client last was in the Detroit area, but he didn’t know exactly where.
UPDATE I: Stephen Grant on the run
Stephen Grant is on the run, Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel said this morning, after investigators found his wife’s torso hidden in the garage of the family’s Washington Township home.
But his lawyer David Griem fears Grant has killed himself: “I think he’s gone.”
“I spoke with him twice early this morning,” Griem said. “And after the second conversation I had no doubt he was going to commit suicide within minutes.”
Griem said Grant turned down repeated pleas to meet. Grant called from a pay phone at a home, Griem said.
“He was increasingly emotionally distraught,’ Griem said. “He had a hard time getting sentences out coherently. He was rambling. I was telling him all the reasons he needed to live – most especially, two main reason: a little 4-year-old and a little 6-year-old.” (Detroit Free Press)
UPDATE II: Police Arrest Husband Accused of Murdering and Dismembering Tara Grant
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Police arrested a man Sunday wanted in connection with the dismembering death of his wife as searchers continued the hunt for her remains.
Michigan State Police arrested Stephen Grant early Sunday in Emmet County, Mich., after a statewide manhunt. The county is near the tip of the state’s Lower Peninsula, about 225 miles from his home in Washington Township in suburban Detroit.
Grant was upgraded from serious to stable condition at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey, Mich., after being airlifted following his capture to be treated for frostbite and hypothermia. He’s expected to make a full recovery with the exception of damage to his feet. (FOX News)
Stephen Grant Hospitalized With Frostbite, Hypothermia
Officials announced the capture of Stephen Grant on Sunday, following a massive manhunt.
Grant was found in Emmet County at 6:50 a.m. on Sunday.
Local and federal law enforcement agencies found Stephen Grant barefoot inside the Wilderness State Park in northern Michigan. Officials airlifted him to Northern Michigan Hospital due to health concerns.
Hackel: Grant will be convicted in wife’s grisly slaying
UPDATE III: Stephen Grant Reportedly Confesses
During a news conference, Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel stated, “He gave a very lengthy confession.” After weeks of claiming his innocence, Stephen Grant has confessed according to news reports. From the news conference we learn that it would seem that Stephen grant murdered Tara while the children were in the home.
Stephen Grant admitted murdering his wife, Tara Lynn Grant, after police found a Ziploc bag in the woods containing human blood, latex gloves, plastic bags and metal shavings. It was the final piece of evidence authorities needed for probable cause to search the Grants’ house, in which they found a human torso, Prosecutor Eric Smith said.
The metal shavings linked the bag’s contents to Stephen Grant, who worked at a tool-and-die shop, the prosecutor said.
“He’s presumed innocent at this time,” Smith said. An arraignment was expected on Tuesday.
Stephen Grant wanted to “clear his mind,” Hackel said. He “did indicate the method in which he caused her death,” after which he took the body to a creek to dispose of the remains. Hackel said he would not discuss the motive. (FOX News)
Grant murder shocks, saddens
“To find out what he did is just unthinkable,” said Melissa (Elliott) Hanson of Rock, a long-time friend of Tara Grant. Hanson knew Grant since they were in elementary school. Their families were involved in 4-H together. Following their graduation in 1990, the two friends kept in touch until a few years ago.
“When she was first missing, we were hopeful … she would be found OK,” Hanson said Sunday. “We never thought she would leave her family.” (The Mining Journal)
Tara Grant likely strangled
Tara Lynn Grant likely was strangled to death before her body was dismembered and its pieces scattered, Macomb County Medical Examiner Daniel Spitz said Sunday.
Spitz said a preliminary examination of the body parts, presumed to belong to Grant, that sheriff’s deputies brought him over the weekend showed no visible injuries — except for bruising around her neck that could mean she was strangled.

After some delays due to in-climate weather Tim Miller and Texas EquuSearch have finally been able to start searching for missing Stacey Hazelton. Stacey went missing on May 2004 and has not been seen since. Her ex-boyfriend, James Arthur Fanning, has been tried and convicted of her murder. Despite many previous searches by law enforcement, Stacey’s body was never found.
Texas Equusearch arrived today in Bolver County, MS to begin searching for Stacy Hazelton’s body. A witness in the murder trial stated that Hazelton;d body was burned and buried in the woods near a creek in Duncan, MS. TES will be working in conjunction with the Boliver County Sheriff’s Department.
An update from the search informs us that TES brought in ground penetrating units and have found some ground anomalies. These points of interest have been probed and cadaver dogs were brought in and showed some interest. At this point there has been nothing definitely located. The Texas EquuSearch team will be working through the night as local authorities brought in lights and there is a threat of more bad weather in the area in the morning. Updates will be coming in as news comes forth.
(Lancaster on-line)
The parents of Stacey Hazelton have expressed their thanks and for Texas EquuSearch coming to help them find their daughter.
For Bruce and Natalie Hazelton, Stacey’s parents, Texas Equusearch aiding in the search efforts makes the possibility of finding her remains all that more real. “This feels great, I can’t thank them enough,” said Natalie. “They are traveling all that way to come and search. We are hopeful and thinking positive. My mother has really worked hard to get this organization involved. “Our hope is that we will be able to bring Stacey’s remains home,” she added. “They told us to remain positive, so that’s what we’ll be.” (The Boliver Commercial)

UPDATE I: Thursday 12:05PM, Tim Miller discusses results of search
According to Tim Miller, they worked until around 3:30–4:00 this morning searching for Stacey Hazelton. Tim Miller stated, “it appeared that Stacey could have been here at one point. The cadaver dogs had hits, but we did not find her. However, it was important to clear this area for possible locations of Stacey.” Although this search effort was without a conclusion Tim Miller suggested to law enforcement that maybe she may be in the area. The authorities have no idea whether Stacey was buried in the ground or just covered up. Tim Miller suggested a controlled burn of the area to rid it of the over vegetation so that the area can be searched again. This time a greater circumference surface area search. He believes the controlled burn in planned for this weekend.
We also had the opportunity to talk to Kent Schneider with the ground penetration unit. Scared Monkeys initially met Kent during the Natalee Holloway search in Aruba in 2005. Also involved in the Search for Stacey Hazelton was Dave Holloway, the father of missing Natalee Holloway.
Tim Miller wanted to personally thank the Boliver County Sheriff’s Department, those that helped and loaned equipment for the search, Kent Schneider, Dave Holloway and the other search teams that participated in the search. Tim Miller said, “It’s amazing what you can accomplish in such a short period of time when all work together for a common purpose, it all just comes together.”

34 year old Tara Grant is still missing. There has been no sign of the mother of two since February 9, 2007. There has been much speculation, but few leads. The MSM has drawn its attention to the case and as much as some local media outlets would negatively compare the attention to the over-saturation of missing persons cases like Lacy Peterson and Natalee Holloway; speaking from experience its much better the case gets media attention than is forgotten.
However, there is a blog that has followed this case as have we and has written several posts somewhat similar to a Natalee Holloway post we did so many months ago …
“Tara could be any woman _ your sister, your friends, yourself,” says Lisa Watson, who has written several entries about Grant on her blog, “The Lisa Life: My Life in a Suburban Town.”
The reason why this case is beginning to gain media attention is the uncanny resemblance to other cases such as Lacy Peterson. A husband being looked at as a primary focus and having involvement with another woman that looks somewhat suspect to say the least.
UPDATE I: Cop report: missing woman’s husband carried $3,000 cash when police stopped him
This is rather peculiar. Stephen Grant, the husband of missing Tara Grant was found with $3000 in cash on him when police stopped him. Grant gave the excuse that the $3000 was to pay the lawyer.
Stephen Grant had more than $3,000 in cash on him when police stopped his sport-utility vehicle the day after he reported his wife, Tara, was missing, according to an arrest report.
Stephen Grant, 37, told The Detroit News today he was carrying the cash to pay his lawyer.
“That was the first day I met with my attorney, and I assumed I was going have to pay him cash, but he took a check,” Grant said. (Detroit News)
Why didn’t Stephen Grant just ask the attorney when he spoke to them whether they took a check or not? This really makes no sense and is a pretty lame excuse. Many things that Stephen Grant has done, acted and said are rather troubling. Question to Stephan Grant, why did you feel the need to hire an attorney before the police arrested you and interrogate you?
Grant said the police stopped and arrested him in order to interrogate him.
“I get why they stopped me,” he said. “They thought I was going to be a little girl and go down there and cry and confess all my sins. But there’s no sins, though.”
Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel said he would have been upset if officers hadn’t arrested Grant.
“It’s standard procedure — if someone is driving on two suspended licenses, we arrest them.”

Ever wonder why some times it takes a while to locate missing people? Then other times it seems to happen rather quickly. Part of the problem may be in people’s awareness, the size and color of a missing poster and location where its posted.
Then again, sometimes its because people live in their own little world and pay no attention to anything in their surroundings. Take a look at this VIDEO, its an eye opener. We all must do better and be more observant and vigilant.

Ricarda Tillman-Lockett has been missing since Monday February 19 when she left her hostess job for the day.
Lockett is 5’2 and weighs about a 120 lbs.
Investigators say the couple have a history of domestic violence. Family members say Ricarda Lockett had not been living in the home.
Meanwhile, the family has been passing out flyers, calling around – doing anything to find their missing relative. (WMC)
City Watch issued for missing mother
“She’s never been late if she’s five minutes late she would call and say I’m running late, never missed work , never missed work without calling and telling me why,” said Upchurch.
Memphis police say they are also concerned because Ricarda never picked up her 7- month- old son from the baby sitter’s house, has not been in contact with family and left behind personal belongings. Police reports also show that officers responded to a domestic disturbance at her house back in January and police say she had been staying at a domestic abuse shelter.
“All these things add .. take each item ..what have is the potential for some harm to have befallen her due to domestic violence,” said Sgt. Vince Higgins.
Upchurch says no matter what was happening in her life Ricarda never would have gone away without telling someone.
“If she was planning on running to get away from the situation she wouldn’t have left her wallet behind, her cell phone behind and she certainly wouldn’t leave her child behind,” said Upchurch. (WREG)
Missing Woman’s Husband Has Criminal Record
Coworkers say Lou Lockett, her estranged husband, picked her up after work at Jillian’s in Downtown Memphis.
Lockett told police he dropped his wife off at their home on Stuart near the University of Memphis and when he returned Lockett said his wife was gone. Friends and family have not talked to her since and are extremely concerned. Eyewitness News Everywhere uncovers the Lockett’s have a turbulent past.
Police records show that Lou Lockett has a police record that includes an assault arrest. He was accused of choking his wife, Ricarda Tillman-Lockett. Candy Upchurch works with Tillman-Lockett. She said, “She’s always said he’s crazy that she needs to get away. I’m very suspicious right now. Very worried about her.”
Lou Lockett has a past criminal record.
Lou Lockett does have an arrest record. In 1999 he was arrested on two separate disorderly conduct charges. In 2000 he faced a charge of theft of property under 500 dollars and in 2001 Lockett was arrested for driving with a suspended license and speeding. January 27th of this year police picked up Lou Lockett on a domestic assault charge with Tillman-Lockett listed as the victim.
The police report from the Memphis Police Department said, “Suspect became violent during the dispute and grabbed victim and pushed her down and choked her.” Tillman-Lockett had marks around her neck according to the police report. It also says, “Lockett was seated in his vehicle upon officer arrival with a loaded 9 mm hi point in the glove box.” (My Eye Witness News)

Stacey Hazelton, 21, has been missing since May 21, 2004. She was last seen in Alligator, MS. Although several searches have been done since Stacey Hazelton went missing, her body has never been recovered.
A witness testified during the trial that Hazleton’s body was burned and buried in woods near a creek in Duncan, Miss. Despite several police searches, the remains were never found. Burned bone fragments were recovered but a DNA match was impossible. The Hazeltons are desperate for the closure that the discovery of her remains would bring. “We can’t leave her down there,” Mrs. Hazelton said. “That’s like leaving her behind. She needs to be home. I wish there was a different way, but still she needs to be home.” (Lancaster On-Line)
Since Stacey has gone missing, her ex-boyfriend James Arthur Fanning, Jr was found guilty of her murder. However, the fact remains that Stacey Hazelton’s body has never been recovered. Tim Miller and Texas EquuSearch will being going to Mississippi this week to help in the search. Their efforts have been hampered by weather; however, they will be joining the efforts to help being home Stacey Hazelton to her family. See the family sight, www.staceyhazelton.org.

Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel is holding a news conference at 11 a.m. today regarding the missing to discuss a missing Tara Grant.
Tara Grant went missing on Feb. 9. Since then, there’s been a firestorm of local and national media attention surrounding the mysterious disapperance of Grant, who’s a wife, mother of two and operations manager for a large engineering company.
Missing woman’s husband: ‘I am the No. 1 suspect’
Grant said he couldn’t verify risque e-mail exchanges purportedly between himself and a former girlfriend in late January that were turned over to authorities this week. He said some portions were familiar but that he didn’t recognize some of the entries.
However, he dismissed their racy flirtatious tone as the playful joking of former lovers.
“It was the kind of banter we had,” he said, refusing to identify the woman. (Detroit Free Press)

UPDATE I: News Conference
“We’re not going to leave any stone unturned,” Hackel said today during a news conference, without getting into specifics of the search area. “We’re hopeful that she’s still alive.”
Reserve deputies will canvass wooded areas near places like Stony Creek and nearby trails on all-terrain vehicles and horseback. The public is also asked to keep an eye out for Grant and call the Sheriff’s Office at (586) 307-9358 with leads.
UPDATE I: Search for Macomb County woman ends with no clues
A four and a half hour search this morning for a missing Macomb County mother turned up no clues in her disappearance.
Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel called off the search for Tara Lynn Grant at about 12:30 p.m. today. About 150 members of the sheriff’s department, including deputies and reserves, and members of the Stony Creek Metropark Police had fanned out about 8 a.m. over the 5,000-acre park and adjacent wooded areas.
“We didn’t find anything,” Hackel said.
He said deputies would regroup over the weekend and “come Monday morning we might have another plan (Detroit Free Press)

UPDATE: All Current posts and updates can be read here.
34 year old, mother of two Tara Lynn Grant has not been seen or heard from since February 9, 2007. Her husband, Steven Grant, stated that she was on her way to San Juan Puerto Rico on a business trip. However, there are no records of any such trip.
Her family said she got into a black vehicle on Friday in front of her home — she was on her way to a business trip in San Juan, Mexico, but never made the trip.
Tara Lynn Grant Description:
- 5′ 6″ tall
- 120 lbs
- brown hair
- brown eyes
Stephen Grant has been questioned by police and hired a criminal defense attorney. Is this a precaution or does he have something to hide?
Investigators tell WXYZ.com that Grant, 34, an executive with the Washington Group construction company in Troy and mother of two children, hasn’t been seen nor heard from since Feb. 9. Her husband, Stephen Grant, says she was heading to San Juan, Puerto Rico — but investigators say there’s no record of her trip, no credit card activity since she left, and her cell phone has been turned off.
Adding to the mystery, the sheriff’s department says, is the fact that Grant and her husband argued prior to her disappearance from their home in Washington Township. And that her husband has hired prominent criminal defense attorney David Griem.
In a letter to investigators obtained by WXYZ.com, Griem explains why he was hired and how his client will continue to cooperate:
If anyone has any information regarding this case please call the sheriff’s office at 586-307-9358 or 586-307-9412.
UPDATE I: Missing woman’s family gets a detective
As investigators continue searching for a missing 34-year-old Washington Township woman, an attorney for her husband said a private detective is also on the case.
Tara Lynn Grant argued with her husband over taking business trips and left her home late Feb. 9, said attorney David Griem, retained by Stephen Grant.
Tara Grant’s cell phone has been turned off, and she hasn’t used her credit cards since she left, Hackel said. She has not returned to work, he said.
Hackel said Tara Grant made her last cell phone call to her husband on Feb. 9 after she returned to Michigan from a business trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico. (Detroit Free Press)
UPDATE II: Missing woman’s husband refuses lie detector test
Why won’t Tara Lynn Grant’s husband take a lie detector test? Does he have something to hide or is it advice from an attorney that is only making the husband look suspicious? Normally an innocent person would want to clear themselves so that police can put their efforts toward other directions in solving a case. What’s up here?
Relations between a missing woman’s husband and police investigating her disappearance may be turning bitter, with allegations of police harassment and an attorney’s refusal to let the husband take a polygraph test. (Macomb Daily)
UPDATE III: Husband Suspected Tara Grant of Having an Affair
Stephen Grant suspected his wife, Tara Lynn, was cheating on him, and he planted a device on their home computer to track who she was corresponding with, according to a former girlfriend and e-mails obtained by police Tuesday.
A woman who identified herself as Stephen Grant’s ex-girlfriend, who did not want to be publicly identified, turned over a series of e-mails to police Tuesday. The e-mails the girlfriend received said Stephen Grant, 37, told her he thought his wife was cheating with a man he called “the old geezer.”
“So what are you going to do about the cheatin’ wife?” the former girlfriend asked.
“Don’t know yet,” was the reply, which went on to say that his wife talked to the subject of her interest in code. “And because of that, I don’t know what is actually going on,” the e-mail said.
The e-mail said he knew this relationship was physical because a friend helped him load special software on a computer. “The magic of intercepted e-mail and phone calls.”
In one e-mail, he raised his suspicion that his wife had had a nonphysical relationship with another man about two years ago. His e-mail said that relationship amounted to “just txt and e-mail and phone calls.” (Detroit News)
UPDATE IV: Men deny affairs with missing Washington Twp. woman
Police questioned two co-workers who were said to have had affairs with Tara Lynn Grant, but both men denied any involvement with the missing woman.
Hackel said investigators questioned the man referred to as “the old geezer” in the e-mails, and a second man who co-workers told police may have had an affair with Tara Lynn. Both men denied the allegations, Hackel said.
“There was no indication that there was anything but a professional relationship,” Hackel said. (Detroit News)
