An Amber Alert was issued today in Everett, WA after a Hispanic man reportedly abducted a child from the Discovery Elementary School. A 10 year old boy was on his way to school when a man in a blue van reportedly abducted the boy and put him in the van. The incident happened at about 8 AM at 120th Street Southeast and Meridian Avenue South.

The boy is described as 5 to 7 years old, about 3 feet 6 inches tall, and was last seen wearing a dark-colored knit cap and a dark-colored backpack.
The suspect is a Hispanic man in his early 20s, wearing a dark red raincoat, police said.
The van may be a Mitsubishi model, but witnesses did not report a license plate number. Police do not know what direction the van is heading but have alerted law enforcement and media agencies through Western Washington

52 year old Carolyn Gjendem has been missing since March 1, 2007. Her car has 
been located abandoned on the side of the road near the 9000 block of Jackson Creek Road.
The Chevy Blazer belonging to Carolyn Gjendem has been found; however, there has been no sign of the missing Castle Rock woman. It is believed that she possibly went hiking and something may have occurred.
The Blazer was found in a popular area where people like to park their vehicles and then hike off along the trails, authorities said.
At least 45 people searched the area Saturday night and Sunday with two ATV crews and two dog teams.
They said they believe she may have gone hiking in the area, but the melting snow has created difficult hiking conditions and slippery terrain with deep banks and some false creek beds. (The Denver Channel)
Missing Castle Rock woman’s car found
So far, there has been no indication of criminal activity in Gjendem’s disappearance, said Paul Miller, a spokesman and member of Douglas County Search and Rescue.
Castle Rock police filed a missing-person report Thursday, the day Gjendem was supposed to arrive at the home of family members. Gjendem’s family told police she was last seen Wednesday.
In a statement, Castle Rock police said nothing appeared out of order at Gjendem’s home, but her mobile phone was found left in her room. (Denver Post)
Sunday search fails to find missing Castle Rock woman
Nearly 50 rescuers searched a rugged hiking area in sometimes knee-deep snow Sunday for a Castle Rock woman who has been missing for four days.
But there were no signs of Carolyn Gjendem, 52, who may have gone hiking in the Pike National Forest at the edge of unincorporated Douglas County, said Douglas County Search and Rescue spokeswoman Debrah Schnackenberg
Missing hiker’s body found, Authorities yet to rule out foul play
Carolyn Gjendem, 52, was found Monday afternoon behind a boulder off in a remote area of Rampart Range Road, about six miles from where her Chevy Blazer was parked near a trailhead.
Late Monday afternoon, authorities could not rule out foul play as investigators were working the area.
“We just won’t know until they have completed their work,” said Cocha Heyden, spokeswoman for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department.
An autopsy will be performed Tuesday or Wednesday, and authorities would likely have a positive identification by that time. (
