7 year old Somer Renee Thompson has been missing since the afternoon of October 19, 2009 in Orange Park, FL. Somer Renee Thompson was walking home from Grove Park Elementary School at approximately 2:50 pm with her twin brother, her sister and some friends. She ran ahead of the group; however, when Somer’s brother and sister arrived home at about 3:05 pm, she was not home. Somer has not been seen or heard from since.
A statewide Amber Alert for Somer was issued about 9 am by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Could Somer Renee Thompson been the victim of a sexual predator abduction? Police are also investigating whether Somer’s disappearance is related to an event that happened in the area on October 10, when three people unsuccessfully tried to lure 5 year old girl Kaylee Boothroyd into a car.
Police interviewed 57 sex offenders and sexual predators within a three-mile radius. They have since expanded that search area to a five-mile radius to include 37 more.
Cops say there was an attempted abduction in that area 10 days before, but they say are not sure if the incident is related to Somer’s disappearance.

The search continued on Tuesday for missing 7 year old Somer Renee Thompson. The police suspect foul play in the 7 year olds disappearance. There were some 150 law enforcement searchers, including tracking dog teams, divers and helicopter units involved in ground and water searches for missing Somer Renee Thompson.
“Obviously we suspect foul play in the fact that she did not come home last night,” said Sgt. Dan Mahla of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. “This is totally out of character for her.”
“In fact, the climate conditions and the age and the size of that child would have made it very very tough for her to survive.”
Police have stated that there have been 150 leads; however, there have been no “persons of interest” named or any physical evidence found that might lead LE to where the missing girl might be. Make that 200 leads and counting.
Volunteers: We Will Search All Night for Somer if Necessary
UPDATE I: Texas EquuSearch Going to Search for Missing Somer Renee Thompson
Texas EquuSearch will begin a search for Somer Renee Thompson, age 7, on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at 8:00 a.m. The Command Center will be located at Orange Park Athletic Association, 1086 Fromhart St., Orange Park, FL 32073. The website for the park is www.opaa.us.
UPDATE II: Body of Missing Somer Renee Thompson found in Landfill
Sadly, the body of 7 year old Somer Renee Thompson has been found in a Georgia landfill. Investigators have confirmed that the body of a young girl that was found in a Georgia landfill about 50 miles from the Jacksonville, FL area where Somer went missing was Somer Renee Thompson.
Officials from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation say that they will not determine, nor disclose, until an autopsy is performed tomorrow morning if the body is that of little Somer Thompson. Thompson vanished on her mile-long walk home from school Monday in Orange Park, Florida. John Bankhead, spokesman for the GBI tells Fox that the investigators are still at the scene where the body was discovered, but that the body of the young female has been sent to Savannah, GA for the autopsy in the morning.
UPDATE III: The autopsy might just be the piece of the puzzle that provides an arrest and justice for Somer. If Somer Renee Thompson was sexually molested, then there will be DNA evidence that will nail the scumbag(s) that committed this heinous crime. With all of the sex offenders in the area of the abduction, it will be hard to believe that there will not be matching DNA evidence on a database.

31 year old Shawn Waters has been missing since Sunday evening, November 23, 2008 when he went fishing in a ganoe, a canoe with an outboard motor, near Merritt Island on Sunday evening. Waters’ truck was found near the entrance to the Pine Island conservation area on Merritt Island and Waters’ boat was found Monday afternoon at Manatee Cove, which is nearly a mile south of Pine Island. The Coast Guard has suspended its search for a missing Brevard County fisherman, Shawn Waters. It is reported that Waters was wearing a life jacket.
Waters’ truck was found near the entrance to the Pine Island conservation area on Merritt Island where he usually parks for fishing trips.
Deputies said Waters’ boat was found Monday afternoon at Manatee Cove, which is nearly a mile south of Pine Island. A resident found the overturned boat, and called authorities after watching Eyewitness News at 11, Tuesday night.
The Coast Guard had been using a helicopter and two boats to conduct the search. A helicopter from Patrick Air Force Base and members of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and deputies from the Brevard County Sheriff’s office also helped.
“It is always a tough decision to suspend a search,” said Capt. Paul Thomas of the Coast Guard. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.”
Boater finds missing angler’s watercraft
Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Linda Moros said authorities concentrated their search on the area where the boat was found capsized with nothing in it just north of Manatee Cove, about 110 yards off an island in the Pine Island Conservation Area on Merritt Island.
Waters went fishing there Sunday in his flat-bottomed, light-blue “Gheenoe” and failed to return.
A Gheenoe is a flat-bottomed boat similar to a canoe that is equipped with an outboard motor.
The Gheenoe was found overturned by a fisherman around 4 p.m. Monday. The fisherman said he realized the boat he found and took home might belong to Waters after he saw reports about efforts to locate the missing boater on television news, Moros said.
EquuSearch To Help Search For Missing Boater
Officials with Texas EquuSearch said the search and recovery group planned to help look for missing boater Sean Waters in Brevard County Sunday.
Waters went fishing last weekend in Pine Island Conservation Area, and has not been seen since.
Crews spent hours searching the area in the last week looking for Waters, and found his boat overturned and abandoned.
UPDATE I: Body discovered in Manatee Cove identified
The body discovered near Manatee Cove has been identified as Jonathan Shawn Evans Waters, the boater who was reported missing more than a week ago in the Indian River in Merritt Island.
Water’s body was found near a camp where he had been before he went missing. He was found at 1 p.m. today floating face down and 10 feet away from the shoreline.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the incident as a boating accident. There are no signs of foul play.

28 year old Kelly Morris was last seen on September 3, 2008 by her husband, Scott, and children at their home at 3220 Tump Wilkins Road in Stem, NC. The following morning, September 4, firefighters with the Stem and Providence fire departments responded to a house fire at 3220 Tump Wilkins Road.
Kelly Morris missing
On the morning of September 4, 2008, firefighters with the Stem and Providence fire departments responded to a house fire at 3220 Tump Wilkins Road. The house and much of its contents were destroyed; however, firefighters were able to determine that the residents, 34-year-old William Scott Morris and his wife, 28-year-old Kelly Currin Morris, were not home when the fire broke out.
William Morris was allegedly at his towing business in Creedmoor and the couple’s two young children, ages 8 and 5, were in school at the time of the incident. It was initially believed that Kelly was in Raleigh, where she worked for Nationwide Insurance; however, investigators soon learned that she never showed up for work that morning.
The next day, authorities found Kelly Morris’ car and personal belongings in an undeveloped subdivision about a mile from the home, shortly after firefighters responded to a fire at the residence. Authorities have not named any suspects, but have stated that Scott Morris is a person of interest in Kelly Morris’ disappearance.
The family of Kelly Morris is offering a $30,000 reward for information that leads to finding her and NC Gov. Mike Easley has added $5,000.
Family members say they will not stop searching and urge anyone with any information to contact Granville County sheriff’s investigators at 919-693-3213 or a volunteer search line at 919-812-2310.
To further discuss the case, get updates and provide opinions go to Scared Monkeys.net Missing Persons Forum: Kelly Currin Morris.
UPDATE I: Dive teams continue search for missing Granville mom
UPDATE II: Texas mounted search team helps search for Morris
UPDATE III: Texas search team looks for missing Stem woman
A high-profile team continued to search on Saturday for a missing Granville County woman.
Texas EquuSearch has sent crews to North Carolina to help look for Kelly Morris. They also plan to conduct a search for a woman missing from Gastonia, its members said on their Web site.
On Saturday crews searched a 15-mile radius. They used side-sonar technology in ponds and Falls Lake. An airplane with a remote control camera was also used to scan wooded areas. The group also looked down wells with special cameras.
“I think we have plenty of tools. We have plenty of resources (and) a lot of determination on the part of the searchers, now we just need a little bit of luck to go along with it,” Texas EquuSearch founder Tim Miller said.

Leonard Padilla discusses new ideas and theories in the case of missing 3 year old Caylee Anthony. Why would an FBI agent and a lead investigator from Florida fly all the way to California to talk with Leonard Padilla and three others on his team? Padilla states its because they wanted an official statement as to what Casey Anthony told him with regards to Mom Casey dropping Caylee off with the so-called babysitter.
VIDEO
Another interesting comment came from Texas EquuSearch spokesperson who said, “she is in constant contact with folks here at the Sheriff’s office and according to her there are big developments to come in this case as she puts it will surprise us all.”
However, it was on Nancy Grace Show that Leonard Padilla made the following eye opening comment and accusation. Full transcript from the September 17, 2008 Nancy Grace Show.
LEONARD PADILLA, BOUNTY HUNTER: Well, the situation is, she ran out of gas at the checking cashing store on the 26th. And there was a tremendous amount of communication on her phone on the evening of the 26th and also on the 27th, when she called her boyfriend to come pick her up, that the car had run out of gas. And it goes on into the 28th and then it stops. It just stops. No communication with hardly anybody. And the car naturally got towed off on the 30th.
So there had to be somebody giving her a hand at that time because if you`re dealing with a body in a garbage bag, it`s, like — you know, it`s an awful thing to say, but if you talk to a coroner or somebody that`s handled cadavers, they`ll tell you it`s like having 30 pounds of stew in a garbage bag. And if you have a bone breakthrough, it`ll just literally cover the trunk of the car with fluids. So you basically have to have somebody with you to help you keep somewhat your composure and also to get it over into the dumpster.
