Karen Jo Smith disappeared on December 27, 2000 and has never been seen again. Karen Jo Smith is listed with The National Center of Missing Adults. For those not familiar with the circumstances of this case. Karen Joe Smith was last seen with her ex-husband, Steve Halcomb. Halcomb was convicted and sentenced to 95 years in prison even though Karen’s body was never recovered.
Karen was last seen with her ex-husband, Steve Halcomb (shown in the photo at the right), at her residence around the 800 block of Weghorst Street at approximately 10:30 pm on December 27, 2000. In December 2004, Halcomb was convicted of Smith’s murder and sentenced to 95 years in prison. Smith’s body has never been recovered. (IndyGov.org)
Recently Karen Jo Smith’s missing persons case was part of several families who hoped to have these unsolved cases aided through new rewards. $20 million dollars was being offered as rewards for 20 missing persons cases, $100,000 for each. Karen Joe Smith’s case was one that will be receiving the reward. The reward is good from Sunday, November 4 through November 24.
Last month, Patti Bishop, stepmother of Karen Jo Smith, who disappeared in Indianapolis on Dec. 27, 2000, contacted Mammana about her vision for a “Squeaky Wheel Tour” to draw attention to missing persons cases.
Mammana liked the idea and agreed to fund rewards to try to draw out information. In short order, he and Bishop devised a plan to offer $2 million for 20 cases for 20 days — Sunday through Nov. 24 — with $100,000 dedicated to each case. (Indy Star)
Thanks to Bishop’s involvement and her knowledge of Indiana cases, the state is heavily represented on the list. The other 13 cases are from Missouri, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Alabama and Arkansas.

Paul Shuman-Moore, a Grinnell College student has been missing since September. Paul Shuman-Moore was just added to the National Center for Missing Adults’s list.
In September, hundreds searched for Shuman-Moore in the Grinnell area. Now police are asking local farmers and hunters to keep an eye out for any evidence of Shuman-Moore. Grinnell police are also hopeful they will find him alive, but don’t have evidence that supports that claim. (WHO TV)
Shuman-Moore has medium length brown hair and brown eyes. He is about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 138 pounds.
Paul Shuman-Moore’s parents have created a web site, please check it out.
According to a website his family put up, the note could also be read as an announcement that he wanted to disappear for awhile. So they’ve been putting up posters in Chicago and other areas, describing Paul and saying simply, “Please come home or let us know that you are okay. We love you. Love, Mom and Dad.” (WHO TV)
Anyone with information about Paul is encouraged to call the College’s Office of Safety and Security at 641-269-4600 or the Grinnell Police Department at 641-236-2650.

What the hell is going on in this country? Since when do we parole convicted child murders? What the hell is the justice and parole departments thinking? What is the end result? Another murder!!!
Indiana State Police confirmed that the body of 16 year old Stephanie Faye Wagner was found Wednesday night after she had disappeared on Tuesday night after leaving work.
Danny R. Rouse, a 51-year-old convicted child murderer, has confessed to the murder and brought police to the body of missing 16 year old Stephanie Wagner. Stephanie Wagner had been missing and an AMBER ALERT had been issued regarding her possible abduction. The AMBER ALERT was canceled after a co -worker told police where they could find her body.
Investigators found the body of Stephanie Wagner in a northwestern Indiana field Wednesday night after the co-worker, Danny R. Rouse, told them where to look and confessed to killing her, police said.
Prosecutor Kevin Enyeart said he expected to charge Rouse with murder later Thursday. The court hearing was to continue Friday.
Rouse and Wagner left the Indian Head Restaurant, where they both worked, at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said. Her mother reported her missing about six hours later.
Maybe some one would like to explain to this distraught family and the community how this
scum bag was walking the streets? Danny Rouse is a convicted child killer. He spent 26 years in prison for stabbing a 5 year old boy to death. So what’s he do after he is paroled? Stabs a teenager to death. The Kansas Parole board she be found guilt of aiding in the murder of Stephanie Wagner.
Rouse was convicted in the 1979 murder of a 5-year-old boy and stabbing of the child’s mother. He was paroled in March after spending 26 years in a Kansas prison.
Upon his release in March, Rouse requested that he be allowed to move to Indiana. His parole supervision was then transferred to a South Bend parole office. (
WNBC4)
Someone really needs to explain why Danny Rouse was not in jail for life without parole. The taking of someone’s life means that you actually get to walk a free person? I do not think so. The Kansas Parole Board has some explaining. Seven months after this killer was paroled, he kills again. Read why this killer was in prison in the first place. He was convicted of First degree murder.
Rouse was convicted of first-degree murder in the 1979 slaying of Jason Learst at a Wichita, Kan., apartment, The Wichita Eagle reported today. Rouse also was convicted of stabbing of the boy’s mother, Kathryn Crowley.
During Rouse’s jury trial, witnesses testified that Rouse and Crowley drank beer and smoked marijuana while watching television at Crowley’s apartment. Crowley rejected a verbal sexual advance, after which he stabbed or cut her with a knife 12 times, according to court testimony.
The attack ended when Crowley collapsed and pretended to be dead. Kansas police said Rouse then went to Jason’s bedroom and cut the boy’s throat as he slept.
Rouse pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity at his trial, but a jury convicted him of first-degree murder. (

Chikora Faiz, 19, was last seen a week ago Wednesday after she left her job from the Excalibur. The police believe she was abducted. According to reports Faiz has had contact with her family since her abduction.
- She called her family several times.
- The calls have been short.
- She was being tied up and being held against her will.
(Click on picture for video of potential abduction)
Police think she may have been taken against her will. Police got a tip that she may have had a stalker, a man who became infatuated with her. Right now police are not calling him a suspect, only a person of interest. In fact, they only have a description of the man to go on and think he may not be from southern Nevada. Which is why it’s so important to find her and why police are asking anyone with information to please come forward.
The man police want to speak to is an Asian male, about 5’8″, about 160 lbs, 35 to 40 years old with long, straight black hair. (KVBC)
If you have any information you’re asked to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.

This is quite the set back for the family of missing honeymooner, George A Smith IV. A Miami judge has dismissed the law suit filed against Royal Caribbean Cruise by the family of George Smith.
Judge Jon I. Gordon granted a motion Monday to dismiss the lawsuit faulting Royal Caribbean International for its handling of George A. Smith IV’s disappearance more than a year ago.
“It’s a setback, of course, but it’s not the end,” maritime lawyer Brett Rivkind told Greenwich Time Thursday. “The Smith family isn’t discouraged. Whether the Smith family won or lost, the issue is going to be decided in an appellate court.”
What a bitter pill to have to swallow to have to listen to some smug Royal Caribbean representative say “they exceeded its legal requirements”. Makes one think twice doesn’t it when taking a cruise, especially when one makes such a callous comment when we remember back to the blood stained canvas beneath George Smith’s cabin.
Smith’s parents and sister believe the 26-year-old Greenwich man was murdered, and allege in their lawsuit filed in June that the cruise company tried to cover up the incident to avoid liability and negative publicity.
Royal Caribbean representatives have said the cruise line exceeded its legal requirements when it contacted the FBI and other authorities immediately after learning about Smith’s disappearance.

It is hard to believe that Jennifer Kesse has been missing for 9 months. Jennifer Kesse disappeared from her Orlando condo and has not been seen from since. Jennifer’s parents, Joyce and Drew Kesse have searched continuously and have stated, “they are not giving up on the search for their daughter”. Nor should they. As any parent of a missing child their fight is never over until an outcome is provided.
A national search keeps coming back to John Young Parkway and Americana Boulevard.
Jennifer Kesse’s family gathered at the intersection on Tuesday to remind passing drivers about the search. They were there from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and will gather again from 5 to 6:30 p.m. because they said that’s when Jennifer Kesse would have passed through the intersection on her way to and from work.
“We need to find Jennifer,” Drew Kesse said. “We are willing to do anything.”
Having spoke to Drew Kesse in the past, I believe this. He is a determined man that will never stop searching for his missing daughter. As Drew Kesse said, We are not going away”. If it is any consolation to the Kesse’s, neither are we.
Drew Kesse will be interviewed by Dana Pretzer on the Scared Monkeys Radio network on Sunday, October 29 at 9:00 pm EDT.
The Kesse’s are holding out hope as are we.
“Miracles happen, and who’s to say that Jennifer’s not going to get a miracle?” Joyce Kesse said.
Also please see the person of interest pictures.
For further updates and information, please go to the families website. I would also ask that all go to www.findjenniferkesse.com and read the letter from Jennifer’s parents regarding the 9 month mark of Jennifer’s disappearance. Remember that all parents of missing children belong to a club of which no one wishes to be a member of. God bless Joyce and Drew Kesse that they get the answers they so desperately need.
Anyone who has any information regarding Jennifer Kesse please call CrimeLine at 800-423-TIPS. Also the family has its own hot line at 407-772-2162
