Christopher Barrios Search Expands as New Clues Come In

Candlelight_crhistopherThe search for Christopher Barrios has expanded as new information has come in to investigators. The first major clue was a shed behind a house the family had lived in.

Glynn County Police Chief Matthew Doering says police searched a shed behind a home on Union street in Brunswick. Chief Doering says at one time the Edenfields rented the home. The family currently living there is not suspect in this case.

Doering says investigators found three shovels inside the shed which are now part of evidence.

The police also spent more time in the mobile home owned by the Edenfields who remain the main suspects in the disappearance of Christopher.

Police explore new evidence leading them back to the Edenfields’ mobile home. George, David and Peggy Edenfield remain behind bars without bond.
Tuesday night’s search led detectives to a field about half a mile from the boy’s home. Police say David Edenfield and his friend Donald Dale told them they would find Barrios in that location. Nothing came from the tip but evidence did surface back at the mobile home.

“There were some items that we saw and had no idea it was evidence until we got stories or statements from those two. Legally, we had to go back with another search warrant for a third time,” says Chief Doering.

Police are also following another lead. Investigators say Sunday they received a tip from a teenage girl who says she thought she saw Christopher at a Dollar General.

“Someone had seen a gentleman, a white male with long hair. The clerk and the girl described him. They say he had a little mixed race boy,” says Doering.First Coast News.

4 People Arrested in the Disappearance of Christopher Barrios

UPDATE: Charges on the 3 suspects not including George Endenfield include obstruction of justice, making false statements, with “concealing the death of another person.” Fox News

New reports coming out of Glynn County Georgia are saying that 4 people have been arrested in the disappearance of Christopher Barrios. The primary suspect, George Endenfield, his father, his mother, and a 4th man that has not been identified. This is a tragic case and I hope that the local law enforcement can find the boy and get him home safely to his family.

Four people have now been arrested in connection with the disappearance of a young boy from Brunswick, but still no sign of Christopher Barrios.
Late Tuesday night, police in Glynn County received new information from two individuals claiming to know the location of Barrios’ body.

Authorities brought in a helicopter with infrared technology and cadaver dogs to search an area about a mile down the road from where Barrios was last seen, but nothing came of the search.

Police arrested the father of George Edenfield, the sex offender who has been in jail since Friday and a prime suspect in Barrios’ disappearance, and another man who has not been identified. The two are charged with obstruction of a police officer, giving false statements and concealing the death of another person.

Earlier Tuesday, authorities arrested George Edenfield’s mother, Peggy, on the same charges. George Edenfield remains in jail on a violation of probation charge. Edenfield lives across the street from the six year old boy, who hasn’t been seen since last Thursday night.

Tuesday evening volunteer searchers packed up for the night.

“I have nine grandsons of my own and if something happened to those kids I don’t know what I’d do,” says volunteer Bernice Singleton.  Via First Coast News

Christopher Barrios Missing in Georgia, Registered Sex Offender Arrested

Chris_Barrios6 year old Christopher Barrios is still missing days after he was reportedly seen in the mobile home of the registered sex offender, George David Enedfield. Over 300 people have been searching for the young boy in hopes that they can find him.

Authorities have searched nonstop since Christopher Michael Barrios Junior was reported missing Thursday about two hours after he was last seen near his home in the Canal Mobile Park Home in the coastal county. Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering said he believes the boy was abducted, but so far no clues about what
happened have emerged.

G-B-I spokesman John Bankhead said Levi’s Calls are mostly used for confirmed abductions but “given the scenario, we felt it was best to go ahead and issue one.”

Authorities expanded the investigation over the weekend to include checking Dumpsters, motels, dirt roads, wells and any other site where the boy could be found. Doering said officers have
spoken with family members and friends, but the interviews have turned up little helpful information. via First Coast News

GeorgeEdenfieldThe suspect in the case, George David Enedfield, was taken into custody yesterday after he changed his story on contact with Christopher Barrios Jr. and is being held by Glynn County police.

The sex offender, whose name was not immediately released, was arrested on a violation of probation charge on Friday, the day after Christopher disappeared. Police said unsupervised conduct with Christopher was a violation of the terms of his parole.

“He gave us one story about his involvement and then we checked it out and it turned out not to be truthful,” Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering said Tuesday morning. “We brought him back here last night out of jail to help us go where he claimed he had put this young child — wasn’t truthful. It seems every time you talk to him he changes his story.”
Monday night the Glynn County police named him a suspect and searched his home.

Doering said that after suspect’s mother also several conflicting statements — at one time telling police Christopher may have been in the home alive after he was reported missing. Doering said she was arrested on a charge of obstruction of justice. via News 4 Jacksonville

3-year-old Ethan Foley Still Missing, Kidnapped by Biological Mother, Noel Raleigh (UPDATE: Found Safe)

It has been more than a month since 3 year old Ethan Foley went missing. He was kidnapped by his biological mother, Noel Raleigh and his aunt Stephanie Martinez. Sharon Foley-Pryor is Ethan Foley’s paternal grandmother and his sole legal guardian. The missing persons case was initially handled rather poorly.

Time is critical in any missing person’s case — especially when you’re searching for a kidnapped child. But in the case of 3-year-old Ethan Foley, there was no Amber Alert issued and it took a month for police to finally alert the media. Now, we find out why police waited and why Ethan’s grandmother fears too much time has passed. Sharon Foley-Pryor, Ethan’s grandmother said, “I’m frightened for him… so frightened for him.” (KLAS-TV)

Ethan’s grand mother fears for his safety as his mother lead a rather wild and dangerous life using drugs. AMBER ALERTS are usually a beneficial tool in helping locate missing children; however, in this case it failed miserably. It supposedly did not meet the criteria. One needs to seriously ask themselves why there would be restrictions on a tool used to find children. It hardly makes sense.

That same night — Sharon Foley-Pryor says, with her legal guardianship documents in hand, she and her attorney pleaded with Metro to issue a statewide Amber Alert for Ethan — but she was told the case didn’t meet the criteria. “They said because she didn’t say that she was going to hurt him, that it couldn’t be an Amber Alert,” said Foley. Metro Missing Persons detective, Sandy Southwell, confirms there must be an imminent threat of danger to enact an Amber Alert. Metro says parental abductions are also the most complex kidnapping cases they deal with.

If you have any helpful information, call Metro’s Missing Persons Unit at 828-LOST.

UPDATE I: Missing Las Vegas Boy Found in Virginia

A three-year-old Las Vegas boy missing for a month is back in the Valley.

Ethan’s Foley’s grandmother, Sharon Foley Pryor, told Eyewitness News Friday afternoon he was located in Virginia. She is flew there to get him over the weekend.

She now hopes to work on changing the criteria for Amber Alerts so they can be issued in cases of child abductions in which it is not immediately known if there is a threat to the child. (KLAS-TV)
