Body Found Almost Certain to be Elizabeth Galeana; However Some Questions Arise

Italian authorities are almost certain that the body they found off the Italian coast is Elizabeth Galeana 2that of missing 22 year old Elizabeth Galeana. The body found matches the description of Elizabeth Galeana including identifiable scars.

However, FBI authorities in Tampa wouldn’t confirm Monday that her body had been found. They did say a body was found between the islands of Ponza and Palmarola off the coast of Italy, which is near where the Royal Caribbean cruise ship was at the time Elizabeth went missing.

“In law enforcement we like to positively identify through dental records or fingerprints,” said Carol Michalik, spokeswoman for the Tampa office of the FBI. According to officials with Royal Caribbean, Elizabeth, who attended Gulf Coast High School in Collier County as a senior in 2000, was last seen just after midnight on Monday, July 24, as she entered her parents’ stateroom on the third day of a seven-day trip in the Mediterranean Sea.

Elizabeth Kay Galena map

What has been most strange about this missing persons case is the fact that the family immediately took the tack that there was no “foul play” involved in the disappearance of Elizabeth Galeana. Some merit is given to that premise when we hear that some of the cruise passengers who saw Elizabeth Galeana that last night she was alive.

However, one passenger who contacted the Daily News on Monday was concerned that he and others who were the last to see Elizabeth alive hadn’t been interviewed yet.

Paul Gebbink of the Netherlands said members of the Dallas-based company, International Network, saw Elizabeth alive late Monday night and early Tuesday morning. Gebbink was on the same floor with the Galeana family. “She was sitting at 11 p.m. and crying,” Gebbink said.

He said Galeana was wearing a black top and white slacks. She was later seen around 1 a.m. Tuesday by a colleague of Gebbink’s, who said she seemed happy. Gebbink questions why he and his colleagues haven’t been contacted by authorities, considering they were likely some of the last people to see her alive. “I think it is my responsibility to tell someone,” he said.

We understand the families want for privacy in what is just a terrible event; however, there seems to be something missing from this puzzle that would explain what actually occurred. That does not change the fact that a 22 year old girl died far too early.

Autopsy Done On Body Believed To Be Missing Florida Woman

Latina Prosecutor Raffaella Falcione said that she had not yet received the official report on the autopsy but that the coroner had told her that the body had “no signs of external lesions” — an indication that no foul play was involved.

Little doubt remains that the body found Friday was that of 22-year-old Elizabeth Kay Galeana of Naples, Florida, authorities said. Galeana’s family has said she was dead and that no foul play was suspected.

National Media Doesn’t Show Up for Destiny Norton Story

The search for Destiny Norton has generated plenty of local coverage on TV, radio, in the newspapers and on the internet.

One of the few MSM types that have at least referenced Destiny Norton’s disappearance was staunch victims rights advocate Nancy Grace, thank you. VIDEO

It is true that we have not seen any news in the Main Stream Drive by media either on the case of the disappearance of Destiny Norton. That is rather unfortunate. Upon writing this post we are sending a plea to several producers in the MSM in hopes that they will cover this story. In my opinion it has all the aspects of what they normally do cover. Sometimes they just need a nudge.

A five-year-old girl disappears without a trace, and a community searches. Among the apparent mysteries is why, so far, the national media have stayed away. Jeannie Hill/ Friend, Search Coordinator: “It is a little frustrating, especially since the fact that we haven’t found her yet. It should have national attention. It should.” The kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart drew blanket coverage in 2002, though in that case her younger sister actually witnessed a man taking the girl. The national media showed up two years later when Lori Hacking disappeared and her husband Mark became a prime suspect. Lori’s father says he’s surprised they’re not back now. (KLS)

Hiker, Jon Francis, 24, Still Missing after Six Days around Grand Mogul peak

Searches continue for Jon Francis who has been missing since Saturday. An aerial Jon Francis 2search using infrared and sensor technology is underway for the missing hiker in the Grand Mogul peak area.

A helicopter and small plane sweeping the Grand Mogul peak using infrared and sensor technology.

Early Friday afternoon several aircraft did show up to circle Grand Mogul peak in hopes of spotting anything unusual from the air.

A military helicopter spent several hours near the mountain and also near Redfish Lake Lodge. (KTVB)

Search resumes for missing Stillwater man

The 24-year-old Francis told co-workers at a Bible camp near Ketchum that he planned to go for a hike up Grand Mogul in the Sawtooth Mountains on Saturday. Jon francis

But Francis didn’t return when he said he would, and authorities started aerial and ground searches for him.

Police say Francis’ car was found in a parking area, where he boarded a shuttle to the spot where he began his hike. But no one has reported seeing him since.

Authorities said in a statement released Wednesday that they determined Francis reached the summit on Saturday, but human and dog search teams found no sign of him on two descents from the top of Grand Mogul (KSTP)

Ground Search for Missing Hiker Considered Too Dangerous

Veteran mountain rescue volunteer George Gunn of the Idaho Mountain Search & Rescue says there’s good reason for that: it’s just too dangerous.

“The top up here is where he was, and you can see there’s very little timber. It’s very steep sided,” said Gunn, pointing to a photo of the summit of Grand Mogul in the Sawtooth Mountains.

The terrain is so steep, Gunn says it is easy to fall.

Since rescuers couldn’t find Francis on the formal trail, Gunn says it’s likely the 24-year-old may have fallen or gone off the beaten path– factors that widen the search area significantly and make working conditions for rescuers several times more unpredictable and dangerous. (KBCI)
