Investigators have discovered new evidence near the area where they found Julie Michelle Bullard’s driver’s license last week.
Investigators searching the area where Julie Michelle Bullard’s driver’s license was found last week have turned up further evidence that likely meant Bullard or her abductor – at some point – was near that location.
When sheriff’s deputies and search teams from Cumberland and Lee counties searched an area Sunday off Bogie Island Road in southern Cumberland County, they discovered the wallet and driver’s license of another woman who was in the mobile home where Bullard was taken from at gunpoint on Jan. 2. Authorities also found two of Bullard’s paycheck stubs, a pair of women’s socks, a ski mask and a handbag.Monday, deputies found a membership card for a gym in Sanford with Bullard’s name on it, as well as a shirt.
The initial story of the forced entry robbery and abduction is as follows:
Bullard, 23, was reportedly abducted just after 1 a.m. on Jan. 2. She was at the Bradley Road home in Broadway of her boyfriend, Will Stence, when a masked gunman burst through the door and tied up the four people inside before taking them into separate rooms and robbing them. When the other three victims freed themselves, they found Bullard was gone, witnesses told deputies.
Last Friday, a motorist found what appeared to be the driver’s license of Michelle Bullard.
Friday, a motorist in Cumberland County reported finding Bullard’s driver’s license in a ditch along Bogie Island Road, which is south of Fayetteville.
Bryant also said the clothing items found were to be analyzed by forensic experts with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department.
“They’re going to try to get DNA samples from the shirt and the socks. Whether they’ll be successful, I don’t know,” he said.
The area where Bullard’s identification was found is roughly 60 miles from the mobile home she was taken from.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 718-4577. Callers can remain anonymous. The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office can be contacted at (910) 323-1500, and the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office can be reached at (910) 893-9111.

Tanna continued, “If we leave here with no more answers than we came with, we’re pretty much back at square one. We’ve got some things that belonged to a person who was abducted from a home in Lee County and we have her personal belongings in Cumberland County and still no answers.”

The search for the two West Virginia Missing Miners came to a sad conclusion today. Rescuers today found the bodies of two coal miners who disappeared after a conveyor belt caught fire deep inside the West Virginia Aracoma coal mine.
We have found the two miners we were looking for,” said Doug Conaway, director of the state Office of Miners’ Health Training and Safety. “Unfortunately we don’t have a positive outcome.”
The miners became separated Thursday evening as their 12-member crew tried to escape a conveyor belt fire at Aracoma Coal’s Alma No. 1 mine in Melville, about 60 miles southwest of Charleston. The rest of the crew and nine other miners working in a different section of the mine escaped unharmed.
The victims were identified as Don I. Bragg, 33, and Ellery Hatfield, 47. Both were fathers with more than a decade of mining experience and had worked in the Alma mine for five years.

MELVILLE, W.Va. – Five rescue teams were deep inside a coal mine Friday searching for two miners who never made it out after a conveyor belt caught fire. Nineteen others had reached the surface safely and waited with relatives of the missing in a scene all to familiar to West Virginia.
The fire started Thursday evening inside the Alma No. 1 Mine operated by Massey Energy subsidiary Aracoma Coal, about 60 miles southwest of Charleston, officials said.

That is correct, FBI agents not only working along side and advising local police from Trinidad, but also helping in the search and actually finding the missing body of Balram Maharaj. FBI agents coming to the aid at the request and physically searching in an island in the Caribbean to help find a missing person. The FBI accomplished their goal and provided closure to a missing persons case on a Caribbean island. Seems the FBI is allowed to search and provide more than just advice and observe in missing person cases; they did in Trinidad and it paid dividends.
Balram Maharaj has been missing since April 6, 2005 when he was snatched from the Samaan Tree Bar in Aranguez.
Maharaj, 62, a Trinidadian now resident in the US and a US war veteran, was snatched from the Samaan Tree Bar in Aranguez on April 6.
According to police reports, Maharaj, who was here on a two-week vacation, was approached by an armed man who bundled him into a waiting car.
A $3-million ransom demand was subsequently made for his safe release.
(The Trinidad Guardian)
The United States government also provided a reward for information and the safe return for Balram Maharaj.
The United States Government is now offering a US$10,000 reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the safe release of kidnap victim Balram “Balo” Maharaj, and the arrest and conviction of his abductors.

UPDATE: A terrible update to report on the fate of the 12 trapped miner. Initial reports were inaccurate. From grief to hope back to grief. A miscommunication and people’s want and need for good news regarding the 12 trapped miners made a terrible story even worse. As CNN reports, Grief, anger as all but one miner found dead.
TALLMANSVILLE, West Virginia (CNN) — Rescuers found the sole survivor of an explosion that trapped 13 miners in a West Virginia coal mine “by the sounds of moans,” mining officials said Thursday, about 12 hours after family members learned the initial report that their loved ones were alive was erroneous.
Without giving a reason for the miscommunication — and without assigning blame — mining executive Ben Hatfield said he deeply regrets “allowing the jubilation to go on longer than it should have.”
Original story … unfortunately proved to be premature:

With the news that was coming out today, no one could have seen or expected this. 12 Miners found alive after 41 hours underground following the blast can only be described as a miracle.
Twelve miners caught in an explosion in a coal mine were found alive Tuesday night, more than 41 hours after the blast, family members said.
Bells at a church where relatives had been gathering rang out as family members ran out screaming in jubilation.
