There appears to be a break in the Jackie Hartman missing persons case. A searcher on an all-terrain vehicle discovered a body on Sunday in the area where they were searching for Jackie Hartman.
“We have found a body,” Duncan said. He added that investigators believe the body is related to the disappearance of Hartman. She has been missing since Jan. 28 and police and volunteers have searched for her body in the rugged landscape between Fountain Hills and Payson, where the man suspected of killing her, Johnathan Ian Burns, used his cell phone in the hours just after her disappearance. Johnathan Ian Burns was arrested on January 29, 2007 and was just recently indicted by a grand jury for first degree murder of Jackie Hartman.

Scared Monkeys “Missing Persons” would like to thank Texas EquuSearch and Tim Miller for inviting us to attend the Jodi Sanderholm fund raiser last Tuesday night. The event hosted by the community of Arkansas City, KS was truly an amazing, moving and inspiring evening. Scared Monkeys, Missing and Exploited had posted on the Jodi Sanderholm disappearance from the outset. Like so many missing persons, Jodi could have been any one of our daughters, granddaughters, sisters, nieces or cousins. Jodi Sanderholm will never be forgotten.
Please watch the following tribute to Jodi, her family and TES … Its the first of many video reports we will be doing. A moving tribute to an emotional night.
TRIBUTE TO JODI SANDERHOLM
Special thanks to the Ark City, Kansas Community … The video contains footage from the search, fund raiser and interviews with family & Tim Miller
Thank you to singer & song writer Jay Brown for the use of his song for our video
Also special thanks to Klaas for all of her hard work in the video production
Meeting Jodi Sanderholm’s family, friends and community was a humbling experience to say the least. The Ark City community showed what small town Americana is all about. The spaghetti dinner fund raiser at the Ark City High School was a tremendous out pouring of caring, compassion and support for Jodi’s family and those that helped to find Jodi Sanderholm. Three local clubs sponsored the event. As thousands rolled into the school, the lines of people of all ages kept going around corners, down hall ways and throughout the school.
(Sanderholm family with Tim Miller)
We are honored to take part in such a heart-warming event that is designed specifically to raise monies for TES. Thank you, Kim Hager, thank you to the entire Ark City Police, Ark City High School, the FFA, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Kay Club Arkansas City Area Chamber of Commerce, the Ark City Dance Studio, and thank you to all of Jodi’s family and friends. God Bless You All! (TES)
The organizers of the event hoped to bring in about $5000. They did that easily and from some accounts it appears that some $8000 was raised. As a TES volunteer member I would just like to say thank you … Ark City you did a tremendous job. Texas EquuSearch relies on donations to continue their work in helping families recover missing persons. Tim Miller was humbled by the communities show of support.
Epler said today more than $8,000 had been collected from Tuesday night’s fundraiser, after a later tally. All money raised will be presented to EquuSearch, the Texas-based volunteer group.
The amount raised exceeded the $5,000 goal set by the event organizers, Epler said. The dinner was sponsored by Ark City’s FFA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Kay Club. (Ark City.net)
TES had come to Ark City, Kansas to help a family in need and within minutes of searching the lake located Jodi’s car in the water. The cooperation of all law enforcemnet toawrd the common goal of finding Jodi is to be commended. Its about finding missing persons, not about us or jurisdictional issues. Thank you Ark City and KS law enforcent.
Tim Miller and I have talked on several occasions about the caring and community that takes place during searches. The sad reality of missing person cases is that no matter how big or small the community, Missing Persons can occur anywhere. The good people of Ark City and the family of Jodi Sanderholm did nothing to become part of a growing epidemic in our society.
Interview with Tim Miller from the Dana Pretzer show regarding Jodi Sanderholm from The Scared Monkeys radio network.
Brian and Cindy Sanderholm are just two of the latest parents to join a special fraternity that no one wishes to be a member of. Our hearts and prayers go out to them and the rest of Jodi’s family. As Tim Miller stated that evening, “we all feel that we are apart of theirs and the Ark City family.”
(Alana Rocha talking with Tim Miller)
Also, the local media of Ark City did a tremendous job during this ordeal as the unthinkable was thrust upon small town America. I had the opportunity to meet news members of both KAKE-TV and KBSD, Eye Witness News 12. Alana Rocha and I discusses the role of the media and the delicate nature of reporting such difficult events. They did a tremendous and respectful job reporting the news, informing the community and respecting the family.
Jodi Sanderholm … God Bless and Rest in Peace

15 year old Coreen Wiese has been missing over 3 months from Buxton, ME. There have been few leads for police to go on to find the missing teen.
Authorities are investigating several possible scenarios: that she killed herself, ran away, or was kidnapped by a stranger. They have no suspects, just a few tantalizing clues.
Two days after her disappearance, searchers found Coreen’s cellular phone and MP3 player on a steel I-beam underneath the Route 25 bridge over the Saco River beside a picnic and rest area that straddles the Standish -Limington town line about 10 miles from her home. Several cryptic messages were scratched into the bridge’s rusty girders: Coreen’s birthdate and the date she went missing, “7/22/91-11/8/06,” along with the words “Coreen Wiese RIP.” (Boston Globe)

Erica Bradley has been missing since November 6, 2006 from Allendale, SC. There has been little evidence in her disappearance for investigators to go on. However, relatives of the missing Erica Bradley believe that her boyfriend, Derek Maynor, knows more than he is telling.
According to the Allendale Sheriff Department, 18-year-old Derek Maynor, Erica’s boyfriend and the father of her nine-month-old son, remains a suspect. They say they don’t have enough evidence to charge him.
Now, Erica’s grandmother makes a plea for justice.
“Derek, we loved Erica and we loved the baby. Whatever you did to Erica, would you please let law enforcement know,” pleads Annie Wright, Erica’s grandmother.
Wright says Erica was with Derek the night she went missing. She says they were fighting because Erica thought he was seeing another woman in Appleton.
Erica Breadley’s mother thinks that something very much different occurred.
Erica’s mother thinks it went even further than that, saying she thinks he killed her.
News 10 tried contacting Derek to get his side of the story, but he didn’t return the call. Now, as the search continues, all Erica’s family can do is wait.
“My belief and hope is that she is still somewhere alive,” says Wright. (WIS TV)

Heather Greig, 17-year-old Cleveland High School student and star athlete is missing.
Heather Greig, a star athlete at Cleveland, who lives with her parents on S.E. 68th Avenue, disappeared after going to her first-period class and hasn’t been seen since, as far as her family knows. (The Bee)
Heather Grieg Myspace profile
Police believe that Heather Greig is a “runaway” and in no immediate danger. However, how many times have we heard that misdiagnosis in a missing persons case? According to her parents, Heather has never run away before and gave no indications.
That’s what makes it so frustrating for Heather’s family, who say she has no history of running away, gave no indication that she was unhappy or wanted to run away, and has no money, cell phone, or car.
“We haven’t heard a word from her,” said her mother, Shannon Greig. “We filed the missing person’s report that first night. … I just want her picture out there. Somebody’s got to have seen her.”
Greig said it’s tough to know for sure, but her daughter might have taken a bag with some clothes and her travel hairdryer with her when she left. But she has no idea where her daughter would go. They’ve posted fliers around the neighborhood, but can’t afford to offer any reward money.
If anyone has information, they are asked to call Heather’s family at 503/775-5272 or 503/774-1450, or e-mail: findheatherg@aol.com. Her parents have become frustrated with th lack of action from the police, as the case is deemed a runaway. If anyone has seen Heather, please let her family and authorities know.

Two bodies have been found in Virgina in the car belonging to one of the missing teens from Maryland. It appears the sad end has come to the search foe 16 year old Rachel Smith and 18 year old Rachel Crites. What a sad ending and it would appear that they went through on their promise that they had previously posted in their diary:
“Wherever I end up laying, whether buried or cremated, I want to stay with my true love, buried next to her. This is my choice. I’m sorry.”
A sad ending to two girls lives that died way too soon in life.
Loudoun County Sheriff’s spokesman Kraig Troxell says the bodies were found in a dark blue Subaru Outback about 2:15 p-m off Route 9 near the West Virginia border.
Troxell says the bodies haven’t been identified.
The cause of death remains under investigation. Sixteen-year-old Rachel Smith, of Potomac, and 18-year-old Rachel Crites, of Gaithersburg, have been missing since January 19th, when they told their parents they would be attending a movie in Washington.
Police have confirmed that the car in which the bodies were found belonged to Crites. (WTKR)
UPDATE I: Bodies of Missing Teens Found in Car Confirmed to be Rachel Smith & Rachel Crites
He says authorities later found the bodies of two females in the car’s front seats.
Loudoun County investigators confirmed early Saturday that the victims were 16-year-old Rachel Smith, of Potomac, and 18-year-old Rachel Crites, of Gaithersburg.
Authorities say there were no signs of trauma on the bodies, and the cause of death is not yet known. (ABC7)
Grim Ending Stirs Quest For Answers Md. Teens Found Dead Eluded Searchers; Motivations Unclear
It had been an anxious time for their parents, their neighbors, their friends at Wootton High School — even for people who had never met them and who, through e-mails and Web sites, had worried and prayed and called for them to come home.
“These people just wanted desperately to help,” said Cathy Hodin, who organized search and assistance efforts from her North Potomac home. (Washington Post)
UPDATE II: Police Await Missing Teens’ Autopsy Reports
More will be known about the deaths of two Montgomery County teenagers who went missing two weeks ago after autopsies are completed Monday.
Investigators confirmed early Saturday that 16-year-old Rachel Smith, of Potomac, and 18-year-old Rachel Crites, of Gaithersburg, were found dead in a car Friday near the West Virginia border in Loudoun County, Va. Their bodies were taken to the medical examiner in Fairfax County, Va.
Authorities called the deaths apparent suicides. They said there were no signs of trauma to the bodies. (NBC 4)
UPDATE I: Maryland Teens Die Of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
A preliminary autopsy has determined that the two Maryland teens, Rachel Crites, 18, and Rachel Smith, 16, who were found dead inside their vehicle near the West Virginia border Friday afternoon, died of carbon monoxide poisoning. The Office of the Medical Examiner in Fairfax County made the ruling today, and although the case remains under active investigation, authorities are calling the case an apparent suicide. “The autopsy is not fully complete yet,” Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kraig Troxell said. However, adhering to the Sheriff’s Office policy regarding suicide cases, Troxell declined further comment. (Leesburg Today)
UPDATE II: Missing Maryland Teens Deaths Ruled Suicides
What a sad conclusion but one that was not expected. The initial distubing note in the teens diary pointed at such a conclusion. However, an ending like this never needed to occur. There were so many other options … rather than suicide. So many indeed.
The Loudoun County sheriff’s office says they probably expired of carbon monoxide poisoning.
The Virginia medical examiner’s office in Fairfax County ruled yesterday on the cause of death based on a preliminary autopsy, Loudoun sheriff’s spokesman Kraig Troxell said. “Although the case remains an active investigation, it appears the two teens took their own lives,” Troxell said in a statement.
The sheriff’s office would not release further details, citing a policy not to disclose information in suicide cases.

UPDATE II: Mark Sterling Lewis prior arrests
Investigators believe that due to Lewis’ failure to cooperate, valuable time was wasted in locating the missing girl, deputies said.
Lewis previously was arrested by the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office in September 1995 and booked with auto theft, felony theft and aggravated kidnapping, deputies said.
Lewis was charged with those crimes after he allegedly kidnapped a woman in Livingston Parish by placing a screwdriver to her throat and forcing her to drive to an unknown location, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
During the drive, the victim escaped by getting out of the vehicle, leaving Lewis to steal her vehicle along with her purse and other personal items, according to reports at the time.
Lewis was convicted and sentenced to seven years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with five years suspended, thus serving two years of prison time for the offenses. (The Advocate)
UPDATE III: Body Discovered Near Gonzales

ST. AMANT – Livingston Parish sheriff’s investigators searching for a 13-year-old French Settlement girl missing since Thursday afternoon arrived at a rural location in Ascension Parish Saturday evening to examine a dead body.
The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office located the body Saturday afternoon alongside New River Road about 100 yards off La. 936 in St. Amant, authorities said.
The Ascension Sheriff’s Office notified Livingston Parish investigators they had located the body, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office reported Saturday afternoon. (The Advocate)

UPDATE IV: The body found is now being ID’d as a young white girl.
Is it possible that the suspect they have arrested, Mark Sterling Lewis, gave up the location of Kaitlin as a way of avoiding the “death penalty”.
UPDATE V: Confirmation that the body is that of Kaitlin Aydell
We do have confirmation that the body found by volunteers is that of 13 year old Kaitlin Aydell. We just spoke with Tim Miller of Texas Equusearch and was notified of the sad news.

Kaitlin, rest in peace and God Bless.
UPDATE VI: French Settlement shocked by the death of 13-year-old
In this sleepy bayou village of 900, the missing-person posters have been ripped from storefront windows; the sounds of four-wheelers and other search vehicles were stilled.
About 10 miles away, quiet also permeated the area near New River Bayou in Ascension Parish where Kaitlin’s body was discovered, partially submerged.
Handpicked flowers, bouquets of roses and a pink teddy bear were tied with yellow police tape to a tree near the bayou. (The Advocate)
UPDATE V: Autopsy: French Settlement teen strangled
The 13-year-old girl found dead last week was strangled, the Livingston Parish Sheriffs Office says.
Jason Ard, chief of operations for the sheriff’s office, would not comment further on the autopsy report on Kaitlin M. Aydell. The parish coroner, Dr. Ron Coe, would say only that he had ruled the death a homicide.
