ME Determines Dr. Melinda Superville’s cause of Death was Suicide

The long awaited Medical Examiners report has been released. The ME has determined that Melinda Superville’s death was a suicide due to toxic effects of acetaminophen, hydrocodone and diazepam.

HOUSTON — A Houston chiropractor found dead in northwest Houston took her own life, according to an autopsy report released by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office this week.

KPRC Local 2 reported on Thursday that the medical examiners determined Dr. Melinda Superville’s cause of death was suicide due to toxic effects of acetaminophen, hydrocodone and diazepam.

Investigators said the death was suspicious because a gun was found near her body, however, the gun was never fired. To go along with no note. Also the fact that a gun and pills remained out in the open where the homeless had been known to frequent for one week and a crime scene was not disturbed.

One wonders whether this is one of those cases that there is just not enough evidence to point at anything but a suicide. Now it leaves us to speculate why would a woman take her life?

Human Remains No Match To Lubbock Missing Person Cases

Skeletal remains that were found near the Buffalo Springs Lake entrance last Thursday are determined to be no match for any missing persons cases in Lubbock, TX.

New developments in the investigation of human remains near Buffalo Springs Lake.

Lubbock Police tell NewsChannel 11 the remains do not match any of the missing adult cases in Lubbock.

The Lubbock Medical Examiners office is performing an autopsy to identify the remains and determine a cause of death.

Last week human remains were found near the rugged terrain by Buffalo Springs Lake. Investigators also found a human skull just feet away from today’s skeletal remains.

Crime scene tape marks the site on county road 835, just east of the Lake’s entrance. Friday, K-9 units from Amarillo, Texas Rangers, the DA’s office, and Lubbock Sheriff’s combed the area for clues, and their efforts have been successful.

The discovery of a human skull lead investigators to this area, where nearly 20 hours later, they found what could be the rest of the skeleton. “The body was found in proximity to where the skull had been discovered,” said Sheriff David Gutierrez.

LSO cannot speculate on the identity of the remains, but they have called the families of both missing girls, Joanna Rogers, and Jennifer Wilkerson. “We have several priority cases, the missing girls have been high all along. This is up on top and we are trying to get information as rapidly as possible,” said Sheriff Gutierrez.

Remains identified as missing Aurora woman Marilyn Bethell

Authorities confirmed today said that human remains found in a wooded area are those of a 47-year-old Aurora woman, Marilyn Bethell, who has been missing since October.

Kane County authorities said the badly decomposed body was that of Marilyn Bethell, who was last seen Oct. 30 when she left her job at a substance-abuse treatment center in Hoffman Estates.

Kane County Coroner Chuck West said an autopsy determined Bethell died of head trauma.

Who killed Bethell remained a mystery Wednesday because authorities said they had no leads in the case.

Body Confirmed As Missing Woman

The body was found a few miles away from Bethell’s home. Who killed Bethell remained a mystery Wednesday because authorities said they had no leads in the case.

At a news conference Wednesday afternoon, the coroner said that Bethell died from head trauma. Police added that they believe the apparent homicide took place where Bethell’s body was found.

Body recovered from Chicago River is likely missing MA man Matthew Soumakis

Matthew Soumakis, 31, of East Longmeadow, MA, had been reported missing by his family on December 6 after he disappeared while in town for a conference. However, on Tuesday a body was recovered from the Chicago River that is most likely that of the Massachusetts businessman, Matthew Soumakis, who has been missing for two weeks.

Matthew Soumakis, 31, of East Longmeadow, Mass., had been reported missing by his family after he disappeared Dec. 6 while in town for a conference.

“We think it is Matthew Soumakis,” Sgt. Eugene Mullins said, although he said investigators were awaiting autopsy results to confirm the identity and determine whether foul play was involved.

An autopsy had not yet been performed Tuesday evening, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

What a tragic end to this story as Matthew Soumakis was just married last February and his wife is four months’ pregnant expecting their first child. God bless them all.

Chicago Tribune: River body ID’d as missing Mass. man

A body found floating in the Chicago River Tuesday was identified as a 31-year-old Massachusetts man reported missing Dec. 5 from the downtown hotel where he was attending a business conference.

When police marine unit officers pulled the body from the icy waters near Halsted and Division Streets, they found Matthew Soumakis’ identification still in his pockets, police said. Soumakis’ cousin, who had helped coordinate a manhunt over the last two weeks, later identified the body.

An autopsy was planned for Wednesday, and investigators were still trying to determine how and where Soumakis went into the water. A detective involved in the case and private investigator Perry Myers said Soumakis was anxious about work. He had recently been promoted to manager at a financial software firm, SS&C Technologies.

Read the full Chicago Tribune article as there is some interesting information on when they believe the time of death may have been due to Soumakis’ clean-shaven face and the fact that he was wearing an identification tag from his conference.

Berman said his cousin’s smooth face suggested that he died in the morning, because all of the men in the family have heavy beards and develop a shadow of stubble early in the day.

A Massachusetts medical examiner has ruled the death of a Woodstock jogger a homicide.

Judith Nilan’s autopsy was performed in Massachusetts because her body was found in a storage building that straddles the state line.

The medical examiner found she died from blunt force trauma to the head and neck.

Thirty-six-year-old Scott Deojay of Plainfield, CT is charged with murder.

Scott Deojay, the caretaker of Caroll Spinney who is the actor who plays Big Bird on Sesame Street, has already been charged with kidnapping and Connecticut prosecutors expect to bring homicide charges as well. The autopsy and police reports of the incident of Judith Nilan stated the following:

An autopsy showed the 44-year-old Nilan died of “blunt force trauma to the head and neck, causing multiple fractures, subarachoid hemorrhage and brain contusion by manner of homicide,” according to a report obtained by The Day of New London from District Attorney John Conte in Worcester, Mass.

An affidavit filed by police noted that Nilan was found bound, with her running pants partially pulled down, and that she “appears to have been beaten about the head.”
