Body Found in Arizona Identified as Missing Jacquelan “Jackie” Hartman

The sad but expected news has been confirmed. The body that searchers found earlier Jackie_Hartmanthis week in a remote section of Arizona was that of missing and presumed murdered Jackie Hartman. Having spoke briefly in the past with Jackie’s dad, David Hartman, our hearts and prayer go out to the Hartman family.

Jacquelan “Jackie” Hartman, of Gilbert, was found dead Monday near Arizona 87, northwest of Saguaro Lake, by an all-terrain vehicle rider. Hartman was believed to be dead after police found her bullet-ridden clothes in a dumpster the day after she went missing in late January.

Hartman’s father, David Hartman, declined to comment Wednesday, saying he and his family were still processing the news. The family members spent much of the past three weeks searching around Gilbert and in remote areas along Arizona 87 after Hartman disappeared. (AZ Central)

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday. Jonathan Ian Burns  has already been indicted on first-degree murder, kidnapping, sexual assault and weapons misconduct in connection with the case. Having now found Jackie’s body, there will be no reason why Burns does not pay for his crime. This is the evidence that was needed to solidify the police’s case against Burns.

Jackie Hartman … Rest in Peace.

Brian L. Rooney, Suspect in Michelle Gardner-Quinn Murder Tried on an Unrelated Sex Charge

How often do we hear about a murder or rape suspect being held on an unrelated charge when being investigated for another crime? In Brian Rooney’s case he is being tried for an unrelated sex crime. Brian Rooney was charged in the murder of UVM student Michelle Gardner Quinn. However, first he must face sexual assault charges against a former girl friend.

Still, the sex-assault case won’t be ready for trial until late 2007, Gretkowski told Judge Michael Kupersmith during a 20-minute hearing in Vermont District Court in Burlington.

Rooney, 36, of Richmond pleaded not guilty Oct. 19 to one count of repeatedly sexually assaulting a former girlfriend between 2002 and 2005, and another count of inciting a felony on an accusation he tried to hire someone to kill the woman after their relationship ended.

A gag order Kupersmith issued in the Gardner-Quinn case bars participants from making public comments about the proceedings outside the courtroom. (Burlington Free Press)

Altaie was born in Iraq but immigrated to the United States. Even though he was much older than the average U.S. serviceman, he volunteered right after the Iraq war broke out. He felt it was his duty to help the effort and his native language skills were much needed. Not only that, but here was a chance to serve both his adopted country and the country of his birth.

Pray for his safe release.

FBI Releases New Details in Kidnapping of Marissa Graham …

An Amber Alert was initially issued for 10 year old Marissa Graham in Oklahoma. She was reportedly abducted by a white male approximately 35–40 years of age. Later the next day Marissa Graham was found safe in Clovis, NM getting away from her abductors vehicle at a gas station. The suspect remained at large.

The FBI has recently released some new information in the case of Marissa Graham’s abduction. The FBI is presently offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest, and or conviction of the person or persons who kidnapped Marissa.

Graham was abducted about 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 18 while collecting donations for a basketball fundraiser in Texhoma and was driven to Goodwell, Okla., where the suspect stopped near a grain elevator, said FBI agent Michael Ward. “At this point, the suspect is believed to have engaged in a cell phone conversation with an unknown person … (and) inquired as to the media coverage and police response to the abduction,” Ward said. (Examiner-Enterprise)

There seems to be one important change from the initial accounts of the 10 year old’s escape from her abductor. It appears that the kidnapper opened the trunk latch and released Marissa.

When the suspect drove to an Allsup’s convenience store in Clovis, Ward said the man activated the automatic latch for the vehicle’s rear door and let the girl out of the vehicle. The girl then walked into the store and notified store employees, who called police.

Could Michael Devlin have Been Involved in the Death of Dalton Mesarchik

Ever since Michael Devlin was arrested on kidnapping charges of Shawn Hornbeck and 13-year-old Ben Ownby, he has been suspected of being possibly involved in other cases in Missouri. Could Michael Devlin be a serial kidnapper, sexual predator and murderer? Could Devlin be linked to the unsolved Murder of Dalton Mesarchik?

Besides the kidnappings of Shawn and Ben, a special task force made up of federal, state and local police agencies is looking into whether Devlin was involved in other unsolved missing child cases in rural areas of eastern Missouri.

The investigation also has crossed into Illinois, where Livingston County Sheriff Robert McCarty said Wednesday investigators are looking for links between Devlin and the unsolved 2003 killing of 7-year-old Dalton Mesarchik, but so far have found nothing.

Dalton was abducted from his front yard in Streator, Ill., on March 26, 2003. A fisherman found his body in the Vermilion River the next day. (Yahoo News)

7 year old Dalton Mesarchik went missing on March 26, 2003 from the front yard of his home. The following day, Dalton’s body was located in the Vermillion River; however, no suspect was ever arrested for Dalton’s murder. Police at the time interrogated sex offenders in the area, to no avail. Dalton Mesarchik was found with his hands bound and tied.

The 2003 murder case is now receiving national exposure due to the arrest of Michael Devlin and the fact that he had abducted, not just Ben Ownby but Shawn Hornbeck as well.

Grace’s show featured the Mesarchik killing and it’s possible link to Michael Devlin of Kirkwood, Mo., who is accused of kidnapping two teenage boys, including one who was missing for four years.

Livingston County Sheriff Bob McCarty previously told the Pantagraph the department was interested in Devlin.

“We will consider any and all leads,” McCarty said earlier this month. “We will look at a time line to see if he has any ties to the Streator area in 2003.” (Pantagraph)
