When sex offenders go missing … it can only mean more crimes in the future as sex predators fall below the radar of authorities.
England, Wales and Scotland has a serious missing persons case on their hands. The problem and the severity is that it is not one missing person, but hundreds. The BBC is reporting that 317 sex offenders were reported as missing or unaccounted for. Since it is common for sex offenders to re-offend, one might think this to be a major issue as to the lack of tracking of sexual predators.
The figures, for three-quarters of the police forces in England, Wales and Scotland, were disclosed to the BBC after a Freedom of Information request.
Data supplied by 38 police forces showed 317 sex offenders were reported as missing or unaccounted for.
In January 2007, a significantly higher number of forces - 49 – reported that 322 sex offenders were missing.

UPDATE II: Mother Arrested After Allegedly Reporting Missing Baby Hoax
As it turns out not only was 6 month old Riley Burchness never missing, he never existed. McCormic was arrested Friday morning on charges of giving false information to police officers.
A woman named Megan McCormic told police that a baby sitter never returned her 6-month-old on Dec. 23 from his home at the 5000 block of Northwest 7th Street in Miami.
Police canceled the search for the baby, whom the mother said was named Riley Buchness.
“Every question was just another lie covering up another lie until she just couldn’t hold it anymore,” Detective Freddy Ponze of the Miami Police Department said.
Police said on Friday that McCormic was lying and used the fake existence of the baby, with photographs she took from the Internet, to lure a former boyfriend, John Buchness, from Boston, who had traveled to Miami to meet his supposed son. McCormic fooled her former boyfriend into thinking she gave birth to his son, police said.

25 year old Laura Garza has been missing since Wednesday morning, December 3, 2008. Laura Garza from Bay Ridge was last seen leaving a Manhattan nightclub, The Marquee, at 4 am with two men. Police fear that she may have been harmed by a convicted sex offender. Police described Garza as 5-feet-2 and 120 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.
“We suspect foul play and are concerned for her safety,” NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said yesterday.
Police last night were questioning one of the two men, a 25-year-old once convicted of a sex crime, after going to his home in Wallkill, in upstate Orange County.
Investigators did not find Garza at the house, but they found a piece of carpet mysteriously cut out from its place on the floor, a police source said. Blood stains were also found in the house.
Laura Garza was captured on club video tape reported leaving the night club with two men willingly. However, did Laura Garza know who or what she was leaving the club with?
At some point, Garza split up from her friend and was captured on video leaving the location with her dancing partner and another man.
She appeared to have left with them willingly, and didn’t look intoxicated, police sources said.
Sources said the men drove with her upstate. At some point, one got out and went home.
Witnesses at the club told cops that the men with whom Garza was spotted leaving were “regulars,” and were able to identify them. This led cops to the upstate home of the sex offender, sources said.
Investigators believe that whatever happened to Garza occurred upstate, and the New York State Police are now leading the investigation.
Two Men questioned in the case of missing Laura Garza
On Friday night, the police were questioning two people they suspected were involved in Ms. Garza’s disappearance, said Paul J. Browne, the chief police spokesman.
“We suspect foul play and are concerned for her safety,” he said. “Detectives identified two men who were seen leaving the club with her and determined that both of them reside outside the city in upstate New York.”

UPDATE I: ‘BLOODY SUV’ IN CLUB-GAL HUNT PERV’S CALL TO PAL EYED IN LAURA GARZA ‘MURDER’
Cops hunting a woman who disappeared from a Manhattan nightclub towed a bloodstained SUV from their prime suspect’s upstate family home today – hours after the sexual deviant called a pal begging him not to speak to police, sources said.
Investigators searched lakes and a wooded area near Michael Mele’s family’s Middletown house for Laura Garza, 25, whose case is being treated as a homicide.
Another police source said bloodstains were found in the SUV.
Cops also said they found a piece of carpet mysteriously cut out in an apartment Mele maintains near the family home. More blood was allegedly found in the house.
Neighbors said landscapers working on the property discovered a knife, which they turned over to police.
UPDATE II: Man seen with missing NYC woman jailed in Rockland
The Rockland County Sheriff’s Department says 23-year-old Michael Mele, a registered sex offender, is being held on $50,000 bail.
Detective Lt. William Barbera says Mele violated the terms of his probation by consuming alcohol and by failing to report to his probation officer. Mele’s attorney did not return a message seeking comment.
Mele and another man were seen leaving a Manhattan nightclub early Wednesday with 25-year-old Laura Garza.
UPDATE III: Police divers now searching east side of Echo Lake for Garza
State police divers are now searching the east side of Echo Lake in their continued search for clues about the disappearance of Brooklynite Laura Garza.
Seven divers have been at the lake since this morning, working in bitterly-cold water and under the 5-inch-thick ice.
They’s been working by feel in the water that’s obscured by mud and silt. The lake is split by Echo Lake Road in the Town of Wawayanda. Having finished a search of the west side of the lake, divers turned their attention Thursday afternoon to the east side.

31 year old Shawn Waters has been missing since Sunday evening, November 23, 2008 when he went fishing in a ganoe, a canoe with an outboard motor, near Merritt Island on Sunday evening. Waters’ truck was found near the entrance to the Pine Island conservation area on Merritt Island and Waters’ boat was found Monday afternoon at Manatee Cove, which is nearly a mile south of Pine Island. The Coast Guard has suspended its search for a missing Brevard County fisherman, Shawn Waters. It is reported that Waters was wearing a life jacket.
Waters’ truck was found near the entrance to the Pine Island conservation area on Merritt Island where he usually parks for fishing trips.
Deputies said Waters’ boat was found Monday afternoon at Manatee Cove, which is nearly a mile south of Pine Island. A resident found the overturned boat, and called authorities after watching Eyewitness News at 11, Tuesday night.
The Coast Guard had been using a helicopter and two boats to conduct the search. A helicopter from Patrick Air Force Base and members of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and deputies from the Brevard County Sheriff’s office also helped.
“It is always a tough decision to suspend a search,” said Capt. Paul Thomas of the Coast Guard. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.”
Boater finds missing angler’s watercraft
Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Linda Moros said authorities concentrated their search on the area where the boat was found capsized with nothing in it just north of Manatee Cove, about 110 yards off an island in the Pine Island Conservation Area on Merritt Island.
Waters went fishing there Sunday in his flat-bottomed, light-blue “Gheenoe” and failed to return.
A Gheenoe is a flat-bottomed boat similar to a canoe that is equipped with an outboard motor.
The Gheenoe was found overturned by a fisherman around 4 p.m. Monday. The fisherman said he realized the boat he found and took home might belong to Waters after he saw reports about efforts to locate the missing boater on television news, Moros said.
EquuSearch To Help Search For Missing Boater
Officials with Texas EquuSearch said the search and recovery group planned to help look for missing boater Sean Waters in Brevard County Sunday.
Waters went fishing last weekend in Pine Island Conservation Area, and has not been seen since.
Crews spent hours searching the area in the last week looking for Waters, and found his boat overturned and abandoned.
UPDATE I: Body discovered in Manatee Cove identified
The body discovered near Manatee Cove has been identified as Jonathan Shawn Evans Waters, the boater who was reported missing more than a week ago in the Indian River in Merritt Island.
Water’s body was found near a camp where he had been before he went missing. He was found at 1 p.m. today floating face down and 10 feet away from the shoreline.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the incident as a boating accident. There are no signs of foul play.

James Biela was booked into the Washoe County Jail on charges of murder, kidnapping in the first degree and sexual assault, but could not confirm he is the suspect in the Denison case.
Biela was arrested at the Stepping Stones Children’s Center, where officials said he was dropping off his son. Reno police took a DNA sample from the suspect and said it would take 12 hours to process.
Brianna Denison
Police spokesman Steve Frady issued a one-sentence news release announcing a news conference at 10:30 a.m. today. He would not say whether the suspect was arrested in Reno or elsewhere.
19 year old Brianna Denison disappeared January 20, 2008 and whose body was later found in a field in South Reno on February 15, 2008. At the time of the recovery police stated they had found DNA evidence at the scene of the crime that they say links the suspect to other sexual assaults near the UNR campus.
Police said they recovered DNA evidence at the scene that would link a suspect to the crime. The DNA samples also linked Denison’s killer to three other sexually related attacks on women at or near UNR from October to December 2007.
Could police have finally found a serial rapist that has been connected to at least 3 reported assualts in the Reno area?

According to Local 6 out of Orlando, FL there was a possible sighting of missing 3 year old Caylee Anthony. This is just one of the many sightings of Caylee Anthony since she went missing. All other previous sightings have turned out to be false leads. The picture below seems to be more and the same.
Picture of potential sighting of Caylee Anthony
A photo of a girl involved in a possible Caylee sighting at a mall located northwest of Orlando was released on Friday by a group searching for the missing girl, but a family investigator would not identify the mall nor say when the photo was taken.
D & A Investigations, an agency working with the Anthony family in the search for Caylee, obtained the photo, which was taken by a patron at the unnamed mall.
The person who took the picture has declined to comment, Dominic Casey with D & A Investigations said. Casey said the mall has not been named because of his agency’s ongoing investigation.
When asked for specifics about the photo, Casey told Local 6 News reporter, “You’re not law enforcement.”
The photo has been provided to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI, according to a news release. Investigators with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office have not commented on the photo, but the agency has said that it believes Caylee is dead.
Left: Caylee Anthony, Center & Right pics of Orlando sighting
In doing a simple comparison of Caylee Anthony to the two photos taken of a potential sighting one can notice the obvious difference of the chin and nose. Once again it would appear to be a false sighting of Caylee and another attempt to perpetrate the notion that Caylee Anthony is alive. A convenient ruse to put forth to the public and potential jurors when tot mom Casey Anthony is brought to trial in the disappearance and death of Caylee Anthony. This plays right into the hands of the acts of denial from Cindy and George Anthony. Let’s just over look the evidence of human decomposition from the trunk and continue to follow pipe dream sightings. Might we add that there are still Elvis sightings and we know The King is dead.
The picture of the potential sighting of Caylee was reportedly snapped by a shopper at the mall and was given to D & A Investigations, a firm that is working with the Anthony family

What is going on with the Kid Finders Network?
The Kid Finders Network, a not for profit group that deals with missing children has been at the forefront of the Caylee Anthony missing persons case and also in the camp of the parents of indicted tot mom Casey Anthony. For quite some time there have been stories simmering under the surface regarding Kid Finders. There have been several allegations and rumors swirling regarding Kid Finders and their involvement in this case and several others.
Now comes this bomb shell from WFTV regarding Dennis Milstead who runs the Kid Finders Network …
VIDEO
Watch the above video of Dennis Milstead getting physical once again with a camera man has he did just recently in Blanchard Park during a meeting with the Anthony’s and Leonard Padilla. Temper, temper.
He’s been arrested twice, once for assault and once for impersonating a police officer, and he’s the man Caylee Anthony’s grandparents are trusting to help find their granddaughter.
Dennis Milstead runs the so-called Kid Finders Network, but Eyewitness News uncovered serious problems with his criminal past and his not-for profit group, including the fact Kid Finders has never found anybody.
Still, the organization is out every day, collecting donations using jars with Caylee’s picture on them. Even the Palm Beach County sheriff’s sergeant who helps run their Crime Stoppers operation says Orange County deputies have been warned about Milstead.
When Eyewitness News confronted Milstead about his criminal past, he got very quiet and then he grabbed WFTV reporter Kathi Belich’s microphone and pushed the camera while WFTV photographer Adam Liberatore was holding on to it.
Pictures of the confrontation can be seen here.
WFTV also goes on to report that Milstead in the past claimed he was a law enforcement officer, was arrested for a felony but plead down to a misdemeanor and seven months later another arrest for assault. Eyewitness News also reported that the president of Crime Stoppers in south Florida had a restraining order against Milstead.
Milstead’s pickup truck had a “Gotcha” emblem on the side of it instead of the Kid Finders emblem he has now. West Palm Beach police say he flashed phony blue lights and claimed he was a law enforcement officer. He plead his felony down to a misdemeanor and seven months later another arrest for assault.
Eyewitness News has also learned that the president of Crime Stoppers in south Florida had a restraining order against Milstead after he allegedly tried to connive a 90-percent cut of any donations he solicited for the group. At the time, Milstead was operating a business called Gotcha Billboards, but he was reportedly representing himself as an employee of the non-profit Crime Stoppers.
Milstead’s Kid Finders Network mentions its intentions to raise funds a number of times, mainly so it says it can build more billboards to report on missing children. Its list of accomplishments does not include finding any missing children.
So the grand parents of missing Caylee Anthony are putting all their eggs in the Kid Finders basket? A basket that has never found a missing child and has no track record of success. Bizarre to say the least.
Are Caylee Anthony’s Grandparents Trusting The Right Organizations?
