Teresa Marie Halbach’s Disappearance Called Suspicious
Numerous searches on land and in the air are underway in the disappearance of Teresa Marie Halbach. She was last seen Monday afternoon in Manitowoc.
An aerial search was underway for the land from Manitowoc to Green Bay hoping to locate her car, which they say is a major key to their investigation.
Dozens of relative and friends spread throughout Northeast Wisconsin to distribute Missing Person posters with Teresa’s picture and description. They hope someone in a six-county area has seen her.
According to WBAY2, Teresa Marie Halbach last stop was at the home of Steven Avery.
Coincidentally, Halbach’s last stop Monday was at Steven Avery’s home. He’s the man who spent 18 years in prison for crimes he didn’t commit — attempted murder and sexual assault — until DNA testing cleared him.
The sheriff says the Mishicot area remains a focal point of the investigation. “This is the last place she is seen alive and seen by somebody, and of course we’re going to be concerned, interested in that area.”
According to The Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter, Teresa Marie Halbach’s appointment was to photograph a van being sold by Steven Avery.
Green Bay television stations reported Friday night that the appointment was to photograph a van being sold by Steven Avery. Avery is the Two Rivers man who was wrongly convicted for a 1985 sexual assault and spent years in prison before being exonerated by DNA evidence in 2003.
Avery told WFRV-TV that Halbach took a photo of his van and left.
“I said she was out here no more than five minutes,” Avery was quoted as saying on the station’s Web site. “(Investigators) came in and looked around and they left. I don’t know if I’m a suspect but as long as I can help, I’ll help.”
Officials were trying to determine if she had any appointments after that, and if she showed up for them.
Sheriff says Steven Avery may be among last to see missing woman
