According to NBS 4, A 13-year-old Ohio girl, Katelind Caudill, was found shot to death in her bedroom who may have been killed for trying to help an abused friend. Melvin Keeling is also a suspect in death of convenience store clerks. What a truly sad story. Not only should the suspect not have been on the streets but Katelind Caudill should have been better protected.
A 13-year-old Ohio girl found shot to death in her bedroom may have been killed for trying to help an abused friend.
Relatives say Katelind Caudill had alerted authorities that her friend was being molested.
Police are now looking for her friend’s stepfather, Melvin Keeling. Officials say he’s also a suspect in the fatal shootings of two Indiana convenience store clerks a few hours after the teen’s body was found.
Katie Caudill’s dad said Keeling had threatened her and that police should have protected the 13-year-old, who was helping them in a child rape investigation against the accused killer, Cincinnati television station WLWT reported.
“(Keeling said), ‘You guys took my family, so I’m going to take yours,’” Charles Caudill told the station.
“I’m mad. Warren County did absolutely nothing about it,” Katie’s father said. “They had him and let him go. They should have held him knowing he had threatened my daughter and her sister. They should have had a cop or something patrolling there, but they didn’t.”
Keeling, of Deerfield Township, Ohio, also was wanted for questioning in the shooting death about 3 1/2 hours earlier of Katelind Caudill, 13, at her grandmother’s house about 25 miles northeast of Cincinnati, authorities said.
According to the AP: Keeling was wanted on charges of rape and gross sexual imposition involving a child in an unrelated case, the Warren County sheriff’s office said.
A gunman shot and killed two women working at a northern Indiana convenience store Monday, and police were seeking a man who also was suspected of killing a teenage girl in Ohio.
Katelind Caudill is a hero for what she did and she paid with her life. God Bless you.
Katie’s father said he wasn’t surprised she would put her life on the line for a friend.
“She was nice and she would go out of her way to help anybody. She helped a friend out and ended up dead,” he said.

The investigation in to the disappearance of VCU freshman Taylor Behl took a strange twist yesterday. The 38 year old amateur photographer, Ben Fawley, who has been rumored to have had a relationship with Taylor Behl was linked to a child pornography investigation according to court documents as reported by NBC4.
The investigation into a missing Virginia Commonwealth University freshman from Vienna took a new turn Wednesday.
Police filed unrelated charges against a person questioned in the student’s disappearance.
Police searched the apartment of 38-year-old photographer Ben Fawley as part of a child pornography investigation, according to court documents. According to the search warrant, investigators went to Fawley’s apartment looking for images and documents related to child pornography and the distribution of child pornography. Investigators said they took away at least five computers and an assortment of computer equipment.
Chris Collins, Ben Fawley’s attorney, has stated that his client did see Taylor Behl the day that she disappeared but had nothing to do with Taylor’s disappearance. Collins also states that the child pornography charge has nothing to do with the Taylor Behl investigation. Oh boy, I guess Attorney Collins has quite his hands full defending Ben Fawley. As per the defense attorneys, they are always innocent and the alleged implicating evidence always belongs to someone else.
His lawyer, Chris Collins, said that there are indications that Fawley and Behl had an intimate relationship. Collins said that Fawley saw Behl on the day she disappeared but had nothing to do with the disappearance. He also said the pornography investigation has nothing to do with Taylor Behl.
“It’s my information that those were found on computers from an ex-roommate,” Collins said. “And I don’t know any of the details of the case or what the government is planning on doing with it. I do know it’s got nothing to do with Taylor Behl.”

Erin Nembhard, 15-year-old, was whispering into the telephone around 10:30 p.m. Friday. Less than an hour later, the teen was gone. Her family hasn’t seen her since.
Both Nembhard and authorities fear that the girl fell into a trap set by Internet predators. Police said a convicted sex offender was the last person to admit seeing her in his Opa-locka home in Miami-Dade County, more than 100 miles away from the Nembhards’ home on Aurora Drive.
Investigators said Erin Nembhard crawled out of her bedroom window with a suitcase filled with clothes and a bookbag late Friday and drove off with a man whom she had met in an Internet chat room. The man, Eduardo Narvaez, 21, first drove her to his Miami residence before taking her to the sex offender’s home early Saturday, Capt. Scott Bartal said.
The sex offender, identified as Corey L. Witty, 35, admitted to police that Nembhard spent nearly two days with him, but that she left unharmed around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, investigators said. Detectives found her belongings inside Witty’s residence. He told police he did not know where she went.
Another example of the danders parents face when their children are on-line in chat rooms.
Witty was arrested Sunday on unrelated charges of failing to register as a sex offender in Miami-Dade County. He was being held in the county jail on $5,000 bail, jail officials said.
Witty had served time for sexual battery and lewd and lascivious assault convictions dating back to 1999, according to records. The victim was younger than 16.

Anyone with information on Nembhard’s disappearance is asked to call the Port St. Lucie Police Department at (772) 871-5001 or Treasure Coast Crimestoppers at (800) 273-TIPS (8477).
