25 year old Laura Garza has been missing since Wednesday morning, December 3, 2008. Laura Garza from Bay Ridge was last seen leaving a Manhattan nightclub, The Marquee, at 4 am with two men. Police fear that she may have been harmed by a convicted sex offender. Police described Garza as 5-feet-2 and 120 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.
“We suspect foul play and are concerned for her safety,” NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said yesterday.
Police last night were questioning one of the two men, a 25-year-old once convicted of a sex crime, after going to his home in Wallkill, in upstate Orange County.
Investigators did not find Garza at the house, but they found a piece of carpet mysteriously cut out from its place on the floor, a police source said. Blood stains were also found in the house.
Laura Garza was captured on club video tape reported leaving the night club with two men willingly. However, did Laura Garza know who or what she was leaving the club with?
At some point, Garza split up from her friend and was captured on video leaving the location with her dancing partner and another man.
She appeared to have left with them willingly, and didn’t look intoxicated, police sources said.
Sources said the men drove with her upstate. At some point, one got out and went home.
Witnesses at the club told cops that the men with whom Garza was spotted leaving were “regulars,” and were able to identify them. This led cops to the upstate home of the sex offender, sources said.
Investigators believe that whatever happened to Garza occurred upstate, and the New York State Police are now leading the investigation.
Two Men questioned in the case of missing Laura Garza
On Friday night, the police were questioning two people they suspected were involved in Ms. Garza’s disappearance, said Paul J. Browne, the chief police spokesman.
“We suspect foul play and are concerned for her safety,” he said. “Detectives identified two men who were seen leaving the club with her and determined that both of them reside outside the city in upstate New York.”

Another police source said bloodstains were found in the SUV.
Cops also said they found a piece of carpet mysteriously cut out in an apartment Mele maintains near the family home. More blood was allegedly found in the house.

31 year old Shawn Waters has been missing since Sunday evening, November 23, 2008 when he went fishing in a ganoe, a canoe with an outboard motor, near Merritt Island on Sunday evening. Waters’ truck was found near the entrance to the Pine Island conservation area on Merritt Island and Waters’ boat was found Monday afternoon at Manatee Cove, which is nearly a mile south of Pine Island. The Coast Guard has suspended its search for a missing Brevard County fisherman, Shawn Waters. It is reported that Waters was wearing a life jacket.
Waters’ truck was found near the entrance to the Pine Island conservation area on Merritt Island where he usually parks for fishing trips.
Deputies said Waters’ boat was found Monday afternoon at Manatee Cove, which is nearly a mile south of Pine Island. A resident found the overturned boat, and called authorities after watching Eyewitness News at 11, Tuesday night.
The Coast Guard had been using a helicopter and two boats to conduct the search. A helicopter from Patrick Air Force Base and members of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and deputies from the Brevard County Sheriff’s office also helped.
“It is always a tough decision to suspend a search,” said Capt. Paul Thomas of the Coast Guard. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.”
Boater finds missing angler’s watercraft
Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Linda Moros said authorities concentrated their search on the area where the boat was found capsized with nothing in it just north of Manatee Cove, about 110 yards off an island in the Pine Island Conservation Area on Merritt Island.
Waters went fishing there Sunday in his flat-bottomed, light-blue “Gheenoe” and failed to return.
A Gheenoe is a flat-bottomed boat similar to a canoe that is equipped with an outboard motor.
The Gheenoe was found overturned by a fisherman around 4 p.m. Monday. The fisherman said he realized the boat he found and took home might belong to Waters after he saw reports about efforts to locate the missing boater on television news, Moros said.
EquuSearch To Help Search For Missing Boater
Officials with Texas EquuSearch said the search and recovery group planned to help look for missing boater Sean Waters in Brevard County Sunday.
Waters went fishing last weekend in Pine Island Conservation Area, and has not been seen since.
Crews spent hours searching the area in the last week looking for Waters, and found his boat overturned and abandoned.
UPDATE I: Body discovered in Manatee Cove identified
The body discovered near Manatee Cove has been identified as Jonathan Shawn Evans Waters, the boater who was reported missing more than a week ago in the Indian River in Merritt Island.
Water’s body was found near a camp where he had been before he went missing. He was found at 1 p.m. today floating face down and 10 feet away from the shoreline.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the incident as a boating accident. There are no signs of foul play.

UPDATE I: Alaska Community Fears Fate of Missing Mom; Friend: ‘I’ve Got This Gut Feeling That Something Bad Has Happened’
Along the Seward Highway, between the towering cliffs of exposed rock and the fast-icing waters of Turnagain Arm, an abandoned pickup found last month looked to be a promising lead in the search for a woman who vanished on her way to work.
But inside the green 1996 GMC, found some six miles below McHugh Creek on Oct. 31, the belongings of Sheila Kathleen McBroom, 40, remained untouched. There were no signs of foul play, nothing wrong with the car suggesting mechanical malfunction, no suicide note.
UPDATE II: Disappearance of woman baffles family, friends
In the days before she disappeared, one of McBroom’s teenage daughters returned after spending more than a year out of state, and McBroom appeared to be thrilled about the reunion in a personal blog entry dated Oct. 26.

But McBroom was also stressing about her job with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Elmendorf Air Force Base, said Bishop Lance Nelson, who supervises McBroom’s ward at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
McBroom had gotten renewed interest in the church in recent years and had taught primary school there, Nelson said. He called her a loving mother and said her abrupt disappearance has shocked those who knew her, especially her family.
