UPDATE I: Ex-Boyfriend Jason Hancock was arrested Friday in Clay County

Jason Hancock was arrested Friday in Clay County. He was charged with aggravated kidnapping.  He is being held without bond pending hearing next week.

Authorities believe Hancock dated Cornell about 16 years ago.

Man charged with kidnapping missing woman

34 year old Jason Hancock, the ex-boyfriend of missing Jennifer Cornell has been arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping. At least for now. The warrant against Jason Hancock alleges he committed the crime of aggravated kidnapping by “falsely imprisoning” Jennifer Cornell with the intent “to inflict serious bodily injuries while in the possession of a deadly weapon.” At issue appears to be back child support as investigators say that Cornell had named Hancock as the father of her 17-year-old daughter and may have been seeking back pay for child support.

A Clay County man was arrested Friday night and charged with kidnapping a Hilham woman who has been missing since Thursday.

Jason Hancock, 34, of the Willow Grove area of Clay County, is charged with aggravated kidnapping of Jennifer Hughes Cornell, 30, of Vaughn Lane, Hilham.

He was arrested at his home about 7:30 p.m. Friday by Clay County Sheriff’s Deputy Sgt. Randall Slayton, one of several law officers working the case.

Hancock, who is being held without bail pending a court hearing, had been questioned in the disappearance of Cornell on Thursday, but was not charged with any crime at that time.

UPDATE I: Body found in missing woman case

Overton County Sheriff W.B. Melton told the Herald-Citizen that searchers found the body on Sunday about 10 a.m. and said it was removed from the sinkhole around 2 a.m. today, Monday, and sent to Nashville for an autopsy.

He said it was the body of a woman and that the exact cause of death is still not known, though it did not appear that she had been shot. He said official identification of the body will not be confirmed until the autopsy is conducted.

UPDATE II: Autopsy Confirms Body Is Missing Mom Jennifer Cornell
