19 year old Jacquelan Hartman has been missing since Sunday in Gilbert, Arizona.
Jacquelan “Jackie” Hartman was last seen at about 1 a.m. when she left her Gilbert home to meet a friend in the area of Williams Field Road and Val Vista Drive, police said.
Jackie Hartman Description:
- white
- 5 feet 7 inches tall
- 175 pounds
- blue eyes
- shoulder-length brown hair with blonde highlights
- She was last seen wearing a white long blouse with a tan sweater, blue jeans and white flip-flops
If anyone has any information please call (480) 503-6500.
UPDATE I: Police believe missing Gilbert woman killed during rape by Jonathan Burns
Police believe that ex-convict Jonathan Burns raped and murdered Jackie Hartman. Burns has been arrested on charges of sexual assault in the case. Just another case of a predator on the loose and an unsuspecting victim in the wrong place at the wrong time. Can we brand ex-cons to let people know who and what they are dealing with at this point? Jackie Hartman’s clothes, including a bloody shirt, bra and panties near Burn’s home.
Jonathan Ian Burns/Jackie Hartman
Hartman was last seen with Burns at about 2 a.m. Sunday, and was supposed to meet her sister about three hours later. While being questioned by police, Burns admitted having sex with her and said he dropped her off about 5 a.m. and went home, according to the probable cause statement.
But cell phone records show he drove north on Highway 87 during that time and was unaccounted for between 5 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday, the court record shows. Officers searching near his apartment found Hartman’s purse, sandals, shirt, bra and panties in a trash bin near Burns’ home.
The shirt and bra were ripped in half, and there were what appeared to be bullet holes in the bloody shirt, officers wrote. (KVOA News 4)
UPDATE II: Arrest linked to missing woman
It has literally gotten to the point that back ground checks are needed before girls go out on dates. What a sad story and rather heinous act that this ex-con committed.
A 25-year-old felon has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault after police found a missing Gilbert woman’s bullet-ridden, torn clothing in a dumpster near his home, according to court documents.
Burns spent more than seven years in Arizona prisons on convictions of burglary, promoting prison contraband and an arson offense, according to the Arizona Department of Corrections Web site.
Duncan said police believe Hartman and Burns were acquaintances, although details of how they met were sketchy. “We are still looking for Jackie,” Duncan said. (AZ Central)
According to her family, Jacquelan “Jackie” Hartman, 19, was on her first date when she was reported missing early Sunday morning.
UPDATE III: Missing Gilbert woman, Jacquelan “Jackie” Hartman, met man at gas station
The man suspected of kidnapping and raping a missing Gilbert woman met her at a gas station days before her disappearance, said Daniel Smith, 20, who works at Banner Baywood Hospital with the 19-year-old woman.
“She didn’t know what she was getting herself into,” Smith said. (East Valley Tribune)
UPDATE IV: Police seek missing woman’s clothing
Police are asking for the public’s help locating clothing last worn by a missing 19-year-old Gilbert woman as they work this weekend to find her.
the public’s help is needed in locating the tan sweater and blue jeans, which could be anywhere from Chandler, where other evidence was found, to Sunflower, Ruet said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Gilbert police at (480) 503-6500 (AZ Central)
UPDATE V: Search continues for missing Gilbert teen
The search continues for the 19 year old missing nursing school student Jackie Hartman. Volunteers and authorities alike helped in the search for Jackie.
Hundreds of volunteers and police continue to scour the desert northeast of metro Phoenix in search of a 19-year-old nursing student, who is thought to have been brutally raped and murdered.
Volunteers picked through the prickly pear and mesquite on foot, horseback, ATVs and dirt bikes Saturday in search of Jackie Hartman of Gilbert.
Police believe Hartmans body may have been dumped in the wilderness between Fountain Hills and Payson, where Burns used his cell phone within a few hours of Hartmans disappearance.
Because of the uncertainty about whether Hartman is alive, police sent two types of K-9 units Saturday: tracking dogs to sniff for her scent, and cadaver dogs to scout for decomposition.
“We’ll be here as long as it takes, or until sundown,” said Barbara Markley, a former corrections officer from Florence. She and Amy Wells, of Mesa, headed out on foot, planning to “think like criminals.”
Some 50 officers from Gilbert and Chandler police departments, the Maricopa County Sheriffs Office, the Department of Public Safety and the Arizona Game and Fish Department joined 100 trained volunteers from Sheriff Joe Arpaios posse to begin a highly coordinated search for Hartman at 6:30 a.m. Saturday. MySpace.com has teamed up with The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to distribute Amber Alerts to is on-line community. MySpace.com has recently come under fire for the exposure it creates to younger subscribers and predators. The on-line alerts will begin today on MySpace. MySpace still has a ways to go in protecting its on-line networking community; however, this addition of on-line Amber alerts makes sense. Teenagers and those of college age that predominately make up MySpace would be the first to know if teens had gone missing. Disseminating the information and fast internet responses may help enable police in the battle to find missing persons.
The online alerts, which will begin Tuesday, will be sent to all users in the ZIP codes where it was issued. They will appear in a small text box at the top of a user’s portfolio. The user can click on the box for more information, including a photo of the missing child and a description of the suspect. (CBS News)
MySpace also announced two safety features designed to protect members’ privacy.
The site will now require people signing up for an account to provide a working e-mail address and verify their identity by responding to an e-mail sent to the listed address. This is a practice common with other online services, but MySpace has been hesitant thus far because of fears the confirmation messages might end up mistakenly in spam filters. The site, open only to those 14 and over, will also offer a tool to prevent any member under age 18 from being contacted by adults, and vice versa. The tool, however, is optional and relies on self-reported ages. (Fox Reno)
My Space still has a ways to go in providing safety to its users as there is presently a law suit by four families against the networking internet giant. MySpace.com to Send Out Amber Alerts
MORE SAFETY FEATURES As part of its safety program, MySpace now requires all new members to register with a valid e-mail address, which they say helps law enforcement track down potential predators. New applicants will receive a verification e-mail with a link requiring them to click back and verify their identity. U.S. senators Charles Schumer and John McCain said last month they planned to introduce legislation that would require convicted sex offenders to register active e-mail addresses, expanding the existing requirements that they register personal information with local municipalities. The database of e-mail addresses would let social networking sites like MySpace bar offenders from their services by cross-checking new applicants against the database. (FOX)

Linoshka Torres and Luis Campos have been missing since Saturday, January 6, 2007. They have not been seen since they picked up their vehicle at the home of a mechanic. Investigators believe that the couples disappearance is a result of a kidnapping. Linoshka Torres is pregnant and due to have her baby in April.
Linoshka Torres, 18, and Luis Campos, 20, drove another car to a house near Kiest Boulevard and Polk Street on Saturday afternoon, police said. The mechanic wasn’t home, so the couple waited in his driveway. Within a few hours, Ms. Torres and Mr. Campos had vanished, and the car they were driving was left behind.
Ms. Torres’ sister Michelle Torres said the keys were left in the ignition and the couple’s cellphones were still inside. Family members said that the couple recently moved in together and that Ms. Torres is about six months pregnant. Police had found no indication of foul play and were unsure what happened to the couple. (Dallas Morning News)
Police search for missing Duncanville couple
“It’s very unlike her, very unlike her,” said Michelle Torres, Linoshka’s sister. “She would call us every day.”
Torres, who the family said is anemic, is expecting a baby girl in just a few months and has had a complicated pregnancy.
“That’s the main concern we have right now with her, because she’s a little tiny girl,” said Rachell Torres, Linoshka’s other sister. “She only weighs, even pregnant, about 105 pounds.”
When the two vanished, they left behind their cell phones, car keys and other belongings.
“I actually believe someone took them,” Michelle Torres said. “I don’t know what’s the reason or anything. I think someone has them against their will or something.” (WFAA)

According to one of the parents of the missing girls a disturbing note was left behind in her diary about “being buried together” written by Rachel Crites. It appears to be a suicide note of sorts.
An entry from Crites’ diary has her family particularly concerned, WRC-TV (Channel 4) reported Tuesday.
The entry read: “Wherever I end up laying, whether buried or cremated, I want to stay with my true love, buried next to her. This is my choice. I’m sorry.” (WTOP)

Eager for Call, Detectives Offer Assurance That Problems ‘Can Be Worked Out’
Police said they have no evidence of foul play in the disappearance of the two female teenagers. The search continues fro the missing 19 year old Purdue University student Wade Steffey. Investigators went to Missouri to check out two suspects, 27 year old David Bradley and 21 year old Jeffrey Thurman who were charged in the beating death of 56-year-old Ricky Haynes of Farmington, MO.
Investigators questioned two suspects in a Missouri murder who were believed to have been in the Lafayette area when a missing Purdue University student was last seen.
But police don’t believe the men they talked to over the weekend were involved in the disappearance of 19-year-old Wade Steffey, a freshman from Bloomington. He was last seen early on January 13th leaving a party at the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity house on the north side of campus.
Purdue spokeswoman Jeanne Norberg says while police don’t think the men are involved in Steffey’s case, they did request D-N-A samples from the men just in case. (WAVE 3)
The National Center for Exploited Children announced Sunday it will take up the case of Purdue University student Wade Steffey
The announcement came a day after hundreds of students and two police K-9 units scoured West Lafayette for Steffey’s cell phone and other clues about his disappearance. The search failed to yield any new evidence.
To help with the investigation, Purdue University several days ago asked its trash hauler to begin setting aside garbage collected in the area, said university spokeswoman Jeanne Norberg. The goal is to prevent the disposal of evidence investigators might have overlooked. (Boiler Station)
UPDATE: Ex-FBI Agent, Profiler Join Search For Missing Student
A retired FBI agent and a former profiler for the agency has joined the investigation of a Purdue student’s recent disappearance, authorities said Monday.
The two will be working on the case of Wade Steffey through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Information on the missing student also was being added to the center’s national database. (The Indy Channel)
Also from earlier reports that the authorities were looking at two suspects from Missouri. Update, “Authorities: Missouri Murder Suspects Not Involved In Steffey Disappearance.”

Her cell phone appears to be shut off and has not been used since Arley Earhart disappeared.

VIDEO
It appears that this may have been a planned runaway; however, some information, call or activity on her cell phone would have been expected by now. Could a plan to have runaway turned into disaster?
UPDATE I: Missing Derry Teen Phones Mother
The police and her mother are still worried that someone may be holding Arley Earhart against her will and keeping her away.
Arley Earhart, the teenager who has been missing since Jan. 5, apparently left a message on her mother’s answering machine saying she is OK.
But her mother is skeptical, and so are police.
Police are afraid that whomever is keeping Earhart is encouraging her to stay away from her parents. (The Pittsburgh Channel)

Charles Arlin Henderson was 11 when he disappeared in 1991. Charles Arlin Henderson went missing from his home in Moscow Mills, MO while riding his bike. Could the two abductions be connected? The scenario sounds so familiar to those of Shawn Hornbeck. The description of Charles Arlin Henderson also seem very close to the other two boys. Go here for time enhanced pictures. Although the police have yet to find any link with Devlin and the missing Arlin Henderson, we do know that pedophiles commit many acts against children before they are ever caught. When the police went into the apartment of Michael Devlin in connection with missing William “Ben”Ownby, they never thought they would find Shawn Hornbeck either.
Charles Arlin Henderson
Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies said Wednesday that Devlin is now the “most viable lead” in the investigation into the 1991 disappearance of Charles Arlin Henderson of Moscow Mills. Both Shawn and Charles vanished at age 11 while riding their bikes on a rural road about an hour’s drive from St. Louis. Both boys were slight, weighing about 100 pounds, and had close-cropped hair. “If you were to take a photo of Arlin Henderson and you place it next to Shawn’s picture, there is a striking resemblance,” sheriff’s Lt. Rick Harrell said. (Fox News)
(Shawn Hornbeck, time of abduction)
Mo. suspect eyed in unsolved kidnapping Michael Devlin is the “most viable lead” in the case of Charles Arlin Henderson, who was 11 when he disappeared in 1991 and has never been found, Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies said. Devlin was arrested last week after police found two kidnapped boys in his apartment in suburban Kirkwood: 13-year-old boy Ben Ownby, who was taken Jan. 8, and 15-year-old Shawn Hornbeck, who vanished 4 1/2 years ago. The long-missing boy, known as Arlin, was, like Ben and Shawn, about 100 pounds and from a rural town about an hour from St. Louis. Both Shawn and Arlin vanished at age 11 while riding their bikes. (Houston Chronicle)
UPDATE: Deborah Henderson-Griffith, Mother Of Child Missing Since 1991 Still Looking For Answers
ST. LOUIS, MO — The mother of another missing child is hoping that the rescue of Ben Ownby and Shawn Hornbeck will lead to some answers for her family. Her son, Arlin Henderson, vanished in 1991 under very similar circumstances.
Deborah Henderson-Griffith says there have been few leads that point to where her son might be or what happened to him. She is now praying the ongoing investigation into Michael Devlin’s past will at least begin to provide some answers. (First Coast News)
