23 year old Alphonse “Michael” Barbiere went missing the morning of February 8, 2008 after a night out with his friends. A body was found encased in snow and ice in a field appears to be that of missing Michael Barbiere. Barbiere was reported to have been “highly intoxicated” when he left Cecilia’s Bar and walked into a blizzard.
Barbiere, a 23-year-old Wyckoff, N.J., resident who was on vacation with friends, has been missing since Feb. 8 after he left a Breckenridge, Colo., martini bar about 1:30 a.m. Police said the young Wall Street trader had consumed more than 20 drinks and was “highly intoxicated.”
The Rocky Mountain ski resort town, which sits at an altitude of 9,600 feet, reported 65 m.p.h. winds and another fresh foot of snow the night Barbiere went missing. (ABC News)
Body of man in Breckenridge may be missing New Jersey
After two hours of digging and cutting through ice officials removed the body of a man wearing clothes that matches the description of what Alphonse “Mike” Barbiere, 23, was wearing when he disappeared two months ago, Assistant Police Chief Greg Morrison said.
Prayers sadly answered for friends of missing man
Even though there has not been official word from the Coroner regarding the ID of the body found in Breckenridge, it appears from the family web site for Mike Barbiere, helpfindmike.com, that they are certain that the body recovered was his.
As most of you know by now, Michael was found on the morning of Saturday April 5. To think of him frozen and being lifted from a deep snow field is a painful image for me to enter into my tired mind. But, it is the solid evidence of his undeniable death that was needed to bring this exhausting search to an end.
Saturday was the heart wrenching day my family had to endure in order to begin rebuilding a life that will undoubtedly be transformed forever. I am not being just another proud parent here when I say Michael was a vibrant energy. To those who knew him well, he will be sorely missed.
UPDATE I: Coroner Says Missing Man Froze To Death, No Foul Play Found In Barbiere’s Death
An autopsy completed on a missing man found over the weekend in a field in Breckenridge showed no trauma and no evidence of foul play.
The results were made public by the Summit County Coroner’s Office Wednesday. The coroner said Alphonse “Michael” Barbiere died of hypothermia due to exposure.

Breaking news in the 4 year old case of missing Ashley Lyn Howley.
Ashley Lyn Howley has been missing since June 16, 2004. At the time of her disappearance, Ashley Lyn Howley was 20 years old. At 3:13 a.m. June 16, 2004, Ashley Howley called the police to file an assault report. She stated Robert MacMichael had hit her on the head, choked her, and threatened to kill her. This was the last confirmed contact with Ashley Lyn Howley.
After she was reported missing, detectives searched her apartment but found no signs of foul play at the apartment. Ashley’s car was a 1995 gold Pontiac Bonneville with Ohio License #ER94JA which was located a few miles from her home, about a month after her disappearance.
At the time of her disappearance, Ashley worked as a dancer at the Dockside Dolls located at 2210 E Dublin-Granville Rd.
There may be breaking news in this 4 year old case of missing Ashley Lyn Howley. Police have confirmed that they found human remains on Friday morning at a Perry Township home Thursday but will not comment further.
Investigators received information that there were human remains in this area,” Columbus Police Sgt. Rich Weiner said. “Over the last couple days, they came into the area, and we have confirmed that we have found human remains.”
There’s speculation that the body is that of Howley, who has been missing since June 2004, Newsome said.
Though investigators said they won’t know the identity of the body until DNA testing is complete, the area where the remains were found is significant.
The wooded area where investigators completed a three-day search was directly behind the home of Robert MacMichael, the father of Robert MacMichael II.
MacMichael II is currently in jail and is accused of killing his mother and her boyfriend in a Minerva Park home earlier this year.
MacMichael II also is the boyfriend of the 20-year-old dancer and was the only suspect in her disappearance, according to police. (NBC 4i)

The remains found this week likely will be identified with a DNA test. Police think they are Ashley Howley’s and suspect she was killed by her boyfriend in 2004. He was living near the area where the body was found.
Police Find Remains, Won’t Confirm An Ashley Howley Match
Searchers find human remains along Olentangy River
Police are releasing little information but said the largely skeletal remains were found in what they described as a shallow grave.
“We have confirmed that we have found human remains,” said Sgt. Richard Weiner, a police division spokesman. “There is a probability that the remains belong to Ashley Howley.”
Howley, 20, disappeared from her North Side apartment in June 2004. The search location is directly behind a home linked to Robert P. MacMichael II, Howley’s former boyfriend and the prime suspect in her disappearance.
MacMichael lived at one time with his father at 8250 Olentangy River Road, a home perched on a hillside that overlooks the woods now being searched

13 year old Cori Baker has been missing since November 9, 2007. Cori Baker was presumed dead and her sister’s 19-year-old boyfriend, Marquis Bullock, has been charged with her murder.
(Cori Baker)
Remains were just recently discovered in a wooded, rocky area of Creek County. The Medical Examiner has confirmed that the remains found were that of 13 year old Cori Baker.
A skull and other remains were found Friday evening in the wooded terrain near the playing fields at Paintball Adventure Games Inc. The business is north of the Creek Turnpike near South 49th West Avenue.
Police are investigating reports that Bullock had been to the paintball facility shortly before Cori’s death.
Dental records were used to confirm that the remains were Cori’s, Medical Examiner’s Office spokesman Randy Saffell said.
Cori’s family members — who have searched extensively for the girl — were notified Monday that the remains were Cori’s, Saffell said.
Creek County Sheriff’s Capt. Mike O’Keefe said more remains as well as clothing were found during the search. The remains were scattered over a wide area.
Details about the clothing were not released, and investigators were trying to determine whether they were related to the case. (Tulsa World)
UPDATE I: More bones, clothing belonging to teen found around facility
UPDATE II: Teenager didn’t disturb remains after discovery
Zach Searle has watched enough police dramas on television to know when he has walked upon a possible crime scene.
The 15-year-old has seen how his favorite TV detectives preserve evidence so they don’t ruin cases.
That’s why he didn’t call attention to a skull he found while refereeing a paintball game on March 21.
Instead, Searle kept his discovery to himself until the game was completed. He then told his supervisors at Paintball Adventure Games Inc., who called the Creek County Sheriff’s Office.

19 year old Pfc. Ryan K. Longnecker went missing on August 6, 2007 along with his two military-issued weapons.
Longnecker’s military-issued 9 mm pistol and M4 semiautomatic rifle were also unaccounted for, Sanders said. A search to find him was under way.
Longnecker’s unit has been training at Camp Shelby since early June, Sanders said. The troops will be headed to Iraq within the next two weeks.
After 6 months and still no sign of missing Pfc. Ryan K. Longnecker, the case has been turned over to the federal authorities and the US Marshals Service.
U.S. Marshals handling missing soldier case
Six months after a Kentucky National Guard soldier and two guns disappeared from a training base in Mississippi, military officials say they developed no leads and have turned the case over to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Pfc. Ryan K. Longnecker, 19, was training at Camp Shelby in south Mississippi for a mission in Iraq when he disappeared on Aug. 6, 2007, just two weeks before his unit deployed. Longnecker’s military-issued 9mm pistol and M4 rifle were also missing.
Col. Phil Miller, a spokesman for the Kentucky National Guard, said Friday that the search for Longnecker was being handled by investigators at Camp Shelby, a Mississippi Guard base that has been federally mobilized since 2004 to train troops for deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan.
UPDATE I: Body found at Shelby was though to be Pfc. Ryan K. Longnecker
The badly decomposed human remains found at Camp Shelby on Tuesday are those of a U.S. soldier, said Forrest County coroner Butch Benedict.
The remains were discovered Tuesday morning in a wooded area on the post, according to Lt. Col. Doril Sanders, public affairs officer at Shelby.
“(The remains) are the property of the U.S. government, (and) they got their own system,” Benedict said about the secrecy surrounding the investigation. He was called out early in the day to the site of the remains, but then ordered to leave when the military team arrived. Benedict said clothing discovered helped identify the remains as those of a soldier.
Speculation has been circulating as to whether the remains could be that of Pfc. Ryan K. Longnecker, who disappeared on Aug. 6, 2007, just two weeks shy of his deployment to Iraq. (Hat Tip: JA)

Brianna Denison has been missing since January 20, 2008 when she was abducted by a serial rapist linked by DNA to a string of attacks near the University of Nevada, Reno campus. It now appears that a female body has been found and removed about 4:30 p.m. and taken to the Washoe County Coroner’s Office.
RENO, Nev. (AP) – Dozens of police officers searched for evidence in a field where the body of a woman was found Friday but declined to speculate whether it was that of Brianna Denison, a 19-year-old college student missing since she was abducted nearly a month ago.
A worker found the body about noon in a brush-covered field on the city’s south side near a light industrial area, Reno police spokesman Steve Frady said.
“There has been a lot of speculation, a lot of rumor about a possible connection with the disappearance of Brianna Denison. At this point we have no information to link that case with this one,” Frady said at a briefing.
About 45 law enforcement and crime lab personnel, including three FBI agents, remained at the scene before night fell.
Frady said the time and cause of death would be determined by an autopsy scheduled Saturday. Authorities have “no ID, not even a tentative ID,” he said.
UPDATE I: Body found in southeast Reno being moved
Authorities are moving the body of a woman found today in southeast Reno.
Spokesman Steve Frady earlier refused to comment on whether the investigation into the dead body is related to the abduction of Brianna Denison.

UPDATE II: Autopsy to Tell if Body Is Missing Reno Kidnap Victim, Brianna Denison
A worker found the woman’s body about noon Friday in a brush-covered field on the city’s south side near a light industrial area. The field is about eight miles south of the house near the University of Nevada, Reno campus where Denison was last seen in the early morning hours of Jan. 20.
“There has been a lot of speculation, a lot of rumor about a possible connection with the disappearance of Brianna Denison. At this point we have no information to link that case with this one,” Reno police spokesman Steve Frady said.
UPDATE III: Female Body ID’d as that of Missing Brianna Denison
RENO, Nev. — Police say the body of a woman found in a field in Reno is that of a college student missing since she was abducted nearly a month ago.
The body of 19-year-old Brianna Denison was discovered Friday in a grown-over lot by a business park on the city’s south side. Police confirmed Saturday that the body was hers.
Autopsy results confirm that body is that of missing teen Brianna Denison
Reno Police confirm that the body found Friday in South Reno is that of missing Reno teen Brianna Denison.
Police say that Denison was strangled to death, and her body had been in South Reno for at least a week.
In a press conference, Police say they believe Denison’s kidnapper and murderer is still in the Reno area. They also believe he is a serial rapist. Police found DNA evidence at the scene of the crime that they say links the suspect to other sexual assaults near the UNR campus.
They describe the suspect as white man with light brown/dirty blonde hair. He is 5’8” to 5′ 10” with a slender to medium build. The victim said the suspect was wearing a dark hooded pull over sweat shirt with no zippers or markings, athletic type nylon silver sweat pants with black stripes, and white tennis shoes.

21 year old Denise Amber Lee has been missing since this past Thursday. She is believed to have been abducted. Michael Lee King has been arrested by police who is suspected of abducting Denise Amber Lee.
Description:
- a white 21 year old female
- 5’2” tall
- about 110 pounds
- She has dirty-blonde hair below her shoulder blades and a small mole under her chin on the right side of her face
Denise Amber Lee is thought to have been taken on Thursday from North Port, where her husband found their two young children alone in the home.
Later Thursday, authorities arrested Michael Lee King, 37, who they believe snatched Lee, the daughter of a Charlotte County sheriff’s lieutenant. But there has been no sign of her.
Neighbors: Man charged in kidnapping drove through area repeatedly
Neighbors of Denise Amber Lee said they had seen her reported abductor, Michael Lee King, drive by Lee’s house several times, including early yesterday morning.
Neighbor Jennifer Eckert said she saw King park his green Camaro in the driveway of Lee’s Latour Avenue home at about p.m. yesterday. Eckert said she came outside when she heard the Camaro pull in and made eye contact with the driver, presumably King. The driver then sped off, Eckert said.
Eckert told police what she saw, and that information helped identify King and his Camaro as a suspect. She said Lee’s husband later tearfully thanked her for the help.
The suspect, Michael King was caught and arrested Thursday night, hours after Lee was snatched from her North Port home.

Witness: Kidnapped woman screamed for help
The last man to have seen North Port resident Denise Amber Lee said Friday that she screamed for him to call the police before she was sped away by accused kidnapper Michael King.
Harold Muxlow Jr., 45, was startled by the incident outside his North Port home but said he did not immediately understand that there had been a kidnapping.
Muxlow said that King, his cousin, had a “psycho” girlfriend and that such drama was not necessarily unusual.
UPDATE I: Searchers Find Unidentified Body, Is It Denise Amber Lee?
The body of an unidentified white woman was found today in Sarasota County, FL. Could it be the body of missing Denise Amber Lee? There has yet to be a positive id. Deputies also announced that they plan to hold another news conference with Lee’s family at 10 a.m. Sunday.
Searchers have found the body of a white woman in Sarasota County, but have not positively identified it, officials with the North Port police department said today at a news conference.
Investigators have been looking for Denise Amber Lee, 21, who disappeared from her home in North Port on Thursday. They arrested Michael Lee King, 36, that night and charged him with kidnapping.
Deputies also announced that they plan to hold another news conference with Lee’s family at 10 a.m. Sunday.
At another news conference this morning, authorities reiterated there is no known relationship between Lee and the man in custody in connection with her disappearance.
“At this point the investigative team has nothing to believe it was anything more than an absolute random act of violence,” said Terry Lewis, police chief for the North Port Police Department.
UPDATE II: Cops Find Body in Search for Mother of 2 Believed Abducted From Florida Home
NORTH PORT, Fla. — Florida police on Saturday say they have found a body “likely” that of a missing mother of two, a day after arresting a man in connection with her alleged abduction and finding blonde hair and a woman’s ring in his car, MyFoxTampaBay.com reports.
UPDATE III: Grim find seems to seal a missing woman’s fate
A search-and-rescue team found the body after nearly 250 law enforcement officers from all over the region had joined in the search for Lee.
The body was found in a swampy wooded area that, though the crime-scene tape was visible from Interstate 75, was remote enough that investigators were being shuttled there by helicopter.
There is a large pond nearby, and people familiar with the area say large alligators abound.
Police would not conclusively say that the body found Saturday was Lee’s.
UPDATE IV: Medical Examiner ID’s Body In Shallow Grave As Denise Lee
The sad yet not unexpected news is coming out of Florida today. The medical examiner has positively ID’d the body found in a shallow grave as that of missing Denise Amber Lee. May she rest in peace.

Maria Lauterbach was reported missing December 19, 2007 by her mother, who last spoke with her daughter on Dec. 13. Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach is reported to be 8 months pregnant. Her cell phone was found Dec. 20 near the main gate at Camp Lejeune. Documents: Missing Marine Claimed Rape
JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A pregnant Marine who vanished last month before she was to testify in a military probe had claimed that a superior officer raped her and that the investigation had “gone sour,” according to court documents. The woman complained about the investigation to her stepmother, who also told authorities that the 20-year-old lance corporal had bipolar disorder, once known as manic-depression, and a history of lying, the documents say. Authorities said Thursday that they plan to question the Camp Lejeune officer she accused of rape, as well as a roommate of hers who was ordered to return to the base from a training mission. They stressed the case remains a missing-person investigation.

Investigators Seeking Missing Pregnant Marine’s Male Roommate
A North Carolina sheriff said Thursday that detectives wanted to interview the man who lived with 20-year-old Maria Frances Lauterbach and was possibly the last person to talk to her before she disappeared.
Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown said investigators were working on getting Sgt. Daniel Durham to come back to North Carolina from a training deployment in California “so we can look him in the eyes and ask him some questions.”
UPDATE I: Missing Marine Investigation: Bus Ticket Purchased but never used
The Onslow County Sherriff’s Office has confirmed that 20- year old Lance Corporal Maria Lauterbauch bought a bus ticket to Texas on December 15th–the day after she last had contact with her family.
But they say she never used it.
UPDATE II: Authorities Believe Marine’s Body Found
JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) – Authorities said Friday they believe they found the shallow grave of a pregnant Marine in the back yard of a comrade she accused of rape, and a person close to the case said the suspect left a note insisting the woman had killed herself.
After some slight digging in a fire pit discovered in the yard of Marine Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean, detectives found what “appeared to be burnt human remains,” Onslow County District Attorney Dewey Hudson said Friday night.
UPDATE III: Police Say Pregnant Marine’s Body Found
Authorities say they found the burned remains of 20-year-old Lance Corporal Maria Lauterbach buried in the backyard of Marine Corporal Cesar Laurean.
Investigators say they also found blood stains in the house. Lauterbach had accused Laurean of raping her. He has not yet been charged. And no one seems to know where he is.
Before he took off, he left a note saying Lauterbach killed herself. Police say the evidence points to murder.

UPDATE IV: Adult, fetus found in shallow grave may be missing Marine
An arrest warrant has been issued for Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean in the death of Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach.
He is charged with first-degree murder, although authorities have not positively identified the body as hers.
“This is consistent with what we were looking for: A pregnant lady who is the victim Maria Lauterbach and her unborn child,” Brown said.
UPDATE V: Manhunt for Marine who killed Maria Lauterbach
UPDATE VI: Suspect in Marine’s death sighted on the move
JACKSONVILLE, North Carolina (CNN) — Police said Sunday they had credible information that put them “less than two hours behind” the suspect in the death of a pregnant Marine.
Earlier Sunday, Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown said Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean had been sighted several states away from North Carolina.
Brown did not specify a state, but police in Shreveport, Louisiana, told The Associated Press the fugitive Marine had been seen there, getting on or off a Greyhound bus.
“We don’t know if he is still in the area. We believe it may have just been a pass-through. We received information he may be headed into Texas,” Shreveport police Chief Henry Whitehorn Sr., told the AP.
Suspect, Marine Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean, in slain Marine case seen in Louisiana
It would appear that this guy may be headed for the Mexican border to avoid the law.
Marine Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean was seen getting on or off a Greyhound bus in Shreveport, La., Saturday night, said Shreveport police Chief Henry Whitehorn Sr.
“We’re working with the U.S. Marshal’s Service and other law enforcement agencies trying to locate him,” Whitehorn told The Associated Press. “We don’t know if he is still in the area. We believe it may have just been a pass through. We received information he may be headed into Texas.”
UPDATE VII: Missing US Marine, Cesar Laurean, Spotted near Guadalajara, Mexico
Missing Marine Cesar Laurean, wanted in the slaying of a pregnant colleague, visited relatives in Mexico last week, a man who said he was his cousin told The Associated Press Tuesday.
CNN first reported that Laurean had briefly stopped by the liquor store of Juan Antonio Ramos Ramirez in Zapopan, just outside Guadalajara. Speaking to The Associated Press late Tuesday from his store, Ramos Ramirez said Laurean walked into his store last Monday or Tuesday and the two cousins exchanged about 10 minutes of small talk about their respective families.
Laurean then told Ramos Ramirez, whose mother is Laurean’s sister, that he had to get back to two friends waiting outside.
