UPDATE I: Diane Medlin Found Safe (Hat Tip: Ray)
To save money, many psychiatric facilities closed their doors. Then federal law, in the guise of protecting medical information, keeps family members from effectively monitoring a mentally-ill loved one by shutting them out of treatment options, diagnoses, etc. This has resulted in a huge homeless population, saddled municipalities with dangerous downtowns and exposed innocent people — both untreated patients and the public — to the many dangers of street life.
I hope Mrs. Medlin’s family finds her safe — and soon.
