Pfc. Joseph Anzack, Jr’s Body Found in the Euphrates River in Iraq

We are saddened to report that the body of missing Fort Drum soldier, Joseph Anzack Pfc. Joseph J. AnzackJr was found yesterday in the Euphrates River in Iraq. Anzack was one of the soldiers missing in Iraq who was kidnapped two weeks ago while patrolling near Baghdad. God bless and thank you for your service and ultimate sacrifice to our country.

The military says the body found in the Euphrates River yesterday in Iraq is one of the Fort Drum soldiers who was kidnapped about two weeks ago.

Joseph Anzack, Jr., 20, and two other soldiers have been missing since they were ambushed while patrolling near Baghdad. A group linked to al-Qaida is taking the credit for that ambush. The military is doing a DNA test to confirm that the body is, in fact, Anzack’s.

Initial reports also said a second body had been found near the same location. But the search is still ongoing for the other two soldiers.

Joseph Anzack Remembered by High School Friends

TORRANCE (AP)  — Schoolmates remembered Pfc. Joseph Anzack Jr. as a gentle jock and turned their school into a makeshift memorial after learning Army officials had confirmed the 20-year-old’s body was found during an exhaustive search for him and two other soldiers ambushed in Iraq. Friends at South High School, where Anzack graduated just two years ago, observed a moment of silence Thursday and described him as a “pumped up” athlete who made them laugh and comforted them when they needed it.

”You’d be sad and sitting there by yourself, and he’d come up to you and just talk to you, and say, ‘Hey, how’s your day? Are you OK?”’ childhood friend Erika Esquivel said.

The school’s front steps became a shrine of flowers, flags and balloons, marked with a sign reading: “You’re our HERO.” The soldier’s Web page was also flooded with condolences.

Jennifer Kesse Still Missing, Video Tape Released by Police

16 months into the investigation into the disappearance of Jennifer Kesse, Orlando police Kesse_Drewhave released a video tape of what they say is a suspect in the case. The supposed break in this case is more or less information that has been present for quite some time. However, now the police have agreed to make public this information and let the general public see the video.

See VIDEO HERE.

The problem is, they lack a clear photo, a name and cannot say for sure whether it is a man or a woman.

But after months of debate between Kesse’s parents and detectives — and solid leads exhausted — police decided Thursday to release a grainy, out-of-focus, wide-angle surveillance-camera video showing a person who parked Kesse’s car at a south Orlando condominium complex. The suspect, estimated to be 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall, then was recorded walking away by another security camera about noon Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006. (Sun Sentinel)

Jennifer Kesse: Still Missing Without a Trace

A week ago the Orlando police released that grainy video to the public. The video shows someone parking Kesse’s car in a condominium lot near her home on the day she disappeared.

Police say they didn’t release the video earlier because they were hoping to use it to check the story of any suspects. Sgt. Barbara Jones of the Orlando Police Department told ABC News that the video was held back “as an investigative tool to be able to lock a suspect into the story,” but added that “its release could generate more leads, significant leads which may break the case.”

Police hope that, despite the rough quality of the video, it might jog someone’s memory about seeing that person that night. Kesse, at 5 feet 8 inches, is at least four inches taller than the person on the video. She has sandy blond shoulder-length hair and green eyes and weighs 125 pounds. But the past week has yet to yield results. (ABC News)

On The Record interview with Drew & Joyce Kesse, transcript from “On the Record ,” May 17, 2007

DREW KESSE: I think they’re father ahead. Are we close? No, I don’t think we’re close. There’s a lot still just very unknown. You know, a lot of times, the word vanishment (ph) comes up. I have to be honest with you. But leads are still being called in every day. It’s an amazing thing that, you know, 15-and-a-half months, we still get leads. We have a personal lead phone. Just last week, there were seven leads on that phone alone that came to us. So the community is very aware, and actually, the United States is very aware. And the calls come in, they just have not been the proper call.
