Bones of Missing Woman Found at Her Home Turn Out to be missing 83-year-old Florence Bock

Four years ago 83-year-old Florence Bock went missing. She literally vanished. This past Friday, Florence Beck was found as the new owners of the home strangely discovered.

NEW YORK (AP) — The remains of a woman reported missing four years ago were found in her home after the new owner sent a cleaning crew to the house.

Until last week, no one apparently knew what happened to 83-year-old Florence Bock. She was found on Friday, said police Sgt. Carlos Nieves.

The house in the Bronx was purchased recently by a developer after the missing woman was declared dead, police said.

The cleaning crew found Bock’s remains – a pile of bones, including a skull, lying next to a cane.

Maybe someone would like to explain why the police never actually went in the home to see if Florence Bock was in it. Bizarre. Bock’s death is not being considered suspicious; however, the investigation into her disappearance certainly looks it.

  1. Wellll, we all know what the response would have been if this same situation occurred in Aruba, don’t we?

It would appear that NYPD dropped to ball like many claim thier carribbean breathern did.

SM: I guess the only difference is maybe the NY police may have a couple more crimes on their plate than Aruba.

Also, this hardly is a coverup.

  2. There are so many holes in this story–what about all of the people before the cleaning crew who must have had access to Florence’s house. Family members, the realtor, the buyer. . .

  3. It seems to me, newspaper reporters are getting very lazy. How can you just print the police facts and not want to know, Does this woman have living children? Who else has been in the home in the past 4 years! And the obvious, Why did not anyone look for her at home? Investigate! Sheez.

  4. It sounds like the newspapers didn’t have that information, couldn’t find it in time for the deadline, and went with what they had.

About 30% of elderly don’t have living children. About 15% have no known relatives. It’s not amazing or astounding in the least that she might not have had any “loved ones” checking on her. What is astounding is that somehow a house was foreclosed on, auctioned off, and transferred without anyone doing any safety or security checks on it. Were I the neighbours I would not be impressed.
