Kate and Gerry McCann, the parents of missing Madeleine “Maddy” McCann say they will sue Goncalo Amaral, the former Portuguese police officer who at one time led the investigation of their daughter’s disappearance. The parents of Madeleine McCann said that they were going top sue the former police officer for defamation over claims he made that the McCann’s were involved in concealing dead body of their daughter.
Kate and Gerry McCann said on Saturday they will sue Goncalo Amaral for defamation over claims he has made that Madeleine is dead and that the McCanns were involved in concealing her body.
The McCanns won a libel case last year against a British newspaper that had made similar claims.
Amaral was removed from the case in October 2007 after he criticized British police to a Portuguese newspaper. He later retired.

5 year old Haleigh Cummings went missing on February 10, 2009 when she was reported as being abducted from her home when she was in the care of her Father’s then 17 year old girlfriend, now wife, Misty Croslin.
Flashforward 3 months and 5 year old Haleigh Cummings is still missing. According to all reports, no new information has been released by investigators in the past weeks. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said it was not clear if Haleigh was abducted as the trailer had no signs of forced entry and a door was ajar. What happened to Haleigh Cummings?
DCF still investigating Cummings case
The state Department of Children and Families continues to review abuse allegations made by the mother of Haleigh Cummings regarding the status of Haleigh’s younger brother, Ronald Cummings Jr., who lives with his father.
“The investigation is still going on,” John Harrell, spokesman for the DCF in Jacksonville, said. “We have been given information and we are continuing to investigate.”
Where’s Haleigh? Leads Dwindle Nearly 3 Months Later
The Haleigh Cummings command center is no longer located at the Putnam County emergency operations center. Tips and leads have dwindled from several thousand to just a few.
“They dropped off from several hundred a day to just several a day now,” Shauland said.
Haleigh’s house is quiet. The landlord says no one has been around for days. Only pictures, prayers and words of hope are left behind.
The fact of the matter is, whether the Haleigh Cummings’ story is on every night on cable news or not, Haleigh, like all missing children, needs to be found.

3 year old Briant Rodriguez has been missing since May 3, 2009 in San Bernardino, CA since he was kidnapped by two gunman who broke into the Rodriguez home, robbed the house, and tied up his mother and four other siblings.
The men, each carrying a handgun, burst through the front door, tied up the woman and the five children, then ransacked the house and stole money and other property, sheriff’s spokeswoman Cindy Beavers said.
Beavers said the boy’s father was at work at the time.
The men left with Briant, telling the still-bound mother and the other children not to call police.
An Amber Alert was issued for the 3 year old about 9 hours after he was abducted.
Briant Rodriguez Description:
- 3 year old Hispanic boy
- 3 feet tall
- weighs 40 pounds
- brown eyes
- long, curly brown hair
- He was wearing a yellow shirt, blue-striped shorts and black sandals when he was taken.
$50,000 Reward Offered for help in finding Briant Rodriguez
UPDATE I: Authorities release pictures of suspects in 3 year old Briant Rodriguez’ abduction
Police in San Bernardino, California, released pictures of two suspects in the abduction of a 3-year-old boy who was taken at gunpoint from his home last weekend.
Investigators traced samples of the tape used to tie up the family to a home improvement store where they believe the suspects purchased the tape the Friday before the abduction.
The unidentified store’s surveillance camera captured two men who matched the description of the kidnappers given by Briant’s mother, purchasing tape believed to have been used in the abduction, Beavers said.
Description of suspects:
Both suspected kidnappers of 3 year old Briant Rodrigue are Hispanic males. One is 5-feet, 5 inches tall, between the ages of 18 and 20 with a thin build, unknown hair and eye color, last seen wearing a black baseball hat, blue jeans and green T-shirt. The other is 5-foot-10, around age 24 with a thin build, black boots, a black shirt and a bandanna.
PICTURE OF SUSPECT VEHICLE
The photo above shows an early 1990s dark green Ford Bronco believed to be driven by the unknown suspects. A spare tire is mounted to the back of the truck.
UPDATE II: Google Search Engine Has Joined the Hunt
Google has entered the search as well. When the user types in “Briant Rodriguez,” a “missing poster” will pop up on the right-hand side of the page with information regarding the missing child. Bob DeLeo, executive director at Google, said, “This is very, very serious. This is beyond an abduction. The more images you have out there, the more likely it is that the perpetrators will be turned in and the child will be found.”
The FBI has moved the Briant Rodriguez case to the top of their Facebook page.
UPDATE III: Investigators likely found Briant Rodriguez alive in Mexico
A 3-year-old San Bernardino boy who was kidnapped by armed men two weeks ago has likely been found in Mexico, officials said.
Investigators received a call on Friday from officials in Mexicali that a child matching Briant Rodriguez’s description had been dropped off at a building there. FBI agents, sheriff’s detectives and the boy’s mother, Rosana Millan, immediately flew to Mexicali.
Although Mexican officials have not yet allowed them to see the boy, investigators said they believe it is him.
“It sounds very positive,” said sheriff’s spokeswoman Cindy Beavers.
UPDATE IV: Abducted California boy, 3, found in Mexico

43 year old, University of Wyoming professor Craig Arnold had been missing in Japan since April 26, 2009 as he was exploring the Japanese island Kuchino-erabu for a book he planned to write on the world’s active volcanos. It was initially though that Arnold might be injured, but still alive. However, that hope soon died once a search team announced that a trail discovered the previous day showed signs that Arnold suffered a leg injury, then fell from a steep cliff to his death soon afterward.
Award-winning poet Craig Arnold, who went missing in Japan in late April, is presumed to have died after a fall, his employer, the University of Wyoming, announced Friday. The university had established a fund to try to find Arnold after Japanese authorities ended their search.
Japanese End Search for Craig Arnold; Poet’s Trail Down Volcano Found Next to Steep Drop, But No Body Found
Arnold’s footprints were found going up the path to the mouth of the inactive volcano, and in the last few days, rescue teams found his tracks near a steep incline, where he may have fallen.
The island is remotely populated by only a few hundred residents and is densely wooded with deciduous trees and bamboo.

A 16 year old Helena girl Deanna Niven was been missing since Sunday evening, April 12, 2009 in Alabaster, AL. Deanna Niven was last seen at the Alabaster Walmart where she left at approximately 6:30 pm. When DeAnna did not return home and her parents could not contact her, they began searching for their daughter. When they arrived at the Walmart her family discovered Deanna’s van with her cell phone inside.
Police are currently looking for a vehicle in connection with the disappearance of Deanna Niven. There is reason to believe Deanna could have left in an older model silver Dodge Caravan.
Through images captured on surveillance video it is believed that Deanna Niven possibly willingly entered a van of another individual in the parking lot. The man in the vehicle appeared to be a man in his 20’s.
It’s believed that other individual is a man in his 20′s. Surveillance video shows what is believed to be either a silver 1996 to 2000 Plymouth Voyager or a 1995 to 2008 Chrysler Town and Country or Dodge Caravan. There are still a lot of unanswered questions, but Lt. Anthony says police are focusing on just one right now, “what’s most important right now is we find her and make sure that she is safe.”
