AMY VARGAS MISSING IN CANCUN
16 Year old Amy Vargas is missing while vacationing in Cancun, Mexico with her grandmother and great grandmother. Amy Vargas went missing on January 28, 2010 where according to Vargas’ grandmother while they were at the pool, Vargas asked to use the restroom and never returned. Vargas disappeared while taking a bathroom break from a pickup baseball game on the beach Thursday. According to authorities who interviewed resort employees, they believe Amy Vargas left the property with two other men.
Family members said they checked into Great Parnasus Hotel last Saturday and Amy Vargas disappeared on Thursday shortly after she spoke to her mother by phone.
“She said, ‘I’m with grandma. I’m fine. I love you and I’ll see you soon,’” said Vargas’ mother D’An Simmons.
Vargas’ grandmother said while they were at the pool, Vargas asked to use the restroom and never returned.
The family is convinced that she did not leave willingly. Who ever may have taken her knew what they were doing as investigators tried to track Vargas through her cell phone; however, it appears the phone was turned off shortly after she disappeared.
Eastpointe teen goes missing in Cancun
Simmons is preparing to fly to Chicago, where she will make a plea for an emergency passport to travel to Mexico to help in an effort to find Vargas.
“That is the only thing keeping me calm,” she said of the preparations. “I just want her back safe.”
Simmons said the FBI, police in Mexico and the resort’s security team are working hard to find her daughter and she praised their efforts.
The FBI office in Detroit on Saturday confirmed they had received a missing person report for an area juvenile but declined to comment further on the case.
Simmons said her daughter is no stranger to traveling safely and over the summer visited St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. She said Vargas planned this trip to coincide with mid-terms wrapping up at Dakota High School; she is in the 10th grade.
If anyone has any information regarding the missing Amy Vargas please call Cancun police at 998-884-1913.

Courtney Beard, a mother of two who was kidnapped while going to work at the Green Oak Township Olive Garden by her ex-boyfriend 23 year old Brandon Jay Smith of South Lyon from the parking lot at about 5:20 p.m. Friday after a “physical altercation” occurred as the woman was heading to work.
Kidnapped Courtney Beard found injured by alive
It was first believed Smith had a gun, but witnesses said he had a knife, police said.
Antrim County sheriff’s deputies found Beard at about 5:49 a.m. Saturday at a remote hunting cabin north of Mancelona that Green Oak Township Police Chief Robert Brookins said belongs to a Smith family member.
There is good news in the end from this story as Courtney Beard was found injured but alive in Antrim County early Saturday morning. Courtney Beard suffered from wounds and hypothermia.
Beard had been injured and was suffering from hypothermia from reportedly walking for several hours in the snow to reach the cabin. She was flown by helicopter to Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord for emergency medical treatment.
The nature of her other injuries was not immediately known. The reason for the altercation also was not immediately known, but police said Smith was on electronic tether from a domestic violence case involving Beard. His criminal record also includes a misdemeanor conviction for assault and battery.
Brandon Jay Smith was also at the cabin with Courtney Beard and was taken into custody and arrested. It is reported by police that Brandon Jay Smith is on probation in connection with a recent assault against Courtney Beard. Beard’s family says he was ordered to stay away from Courtney Beard, but apparently removed his tether before the alleged kidnapping. The judicial system needs to throw this individual in jail before this stalking winds up in murder.

Why on earth do these woman date sex offender?Do they think they will actually change? That they won’t be attracted to little girls? Oh wait, they have changed, they have been cured. What are these woman thinking that they would knowingly date a registered sex offender who raped a teenager. In the process they expose all children around them to this animal.
Lewis said interviews with the children in the house, as well as other evidence, convinced investigators that Leggs abducted Sarah. Lewis said that Leggs, who works as a laborer in a wood and counter business, was refusing to cooperate.
Leggs, who authorities said lives in Salisbury in an outbuilding on property his parents own, is registered as a sex offender in Maryland and Delaware.
According to Maryland’s sex offender registry, Leggs has a conviction for a third-degree sex offense. Wicomico officials said the victim in that crime was a young girl.

22 year old Devon Hollahan has been missing since he attended a concert on November 21, 2009 in Frankfurt, Germany. Hollahan was last seen at approximately 3:00 am when he and a friend were traveling back to a hostel following the concert. According to the friend, he was traveling back to a hostel with a friend, who stopped to ask for directions. When the friend turned back around, Hollahan was gone.
Hollahan’s father, Jeff Hollahan, told NBC’s “Today” show on Friday that hearing his son had vanished is “every parent’s worst nightmare.” Jeff Hollahan plans to travel Sunday from his home in Scottsdale, Ariz., to Germany to help search for his son. Devon Hollahan had been teaching English in Prague since July.
Devon Hollahan and his friend Josh Friedman had traveled to Frankfurt, Germany from Prague to attend a concert by the band Portugal The Man on November 20. Hollahan works as an English teacher in Prague. According to accounts, Hollahan and Friedman had been drinking beer following the concert.
Hollahan and Friedman had been drinking beer and were “tipsy” after attending an after party with the band, his father said. They then took a taxi to central Frankfurt to find their hostel around 3 am, getting out at the Hotel Luxor before heading to the Taunusalange metro station – on the edge of the city’s red light district. Friedman turned away from Hollahan to ask someone for directions, but when he finished, his friend was gone. “It was in a matter of just one-and-a-half to two minutes,” Hollahan’s father Jeff told The Local from a television news studio in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he was preparing to make an appeal for help in the search for his son.
“The plan has been to generate some media attention so we can get more eyes and ears on the street that are familiar with his description in case someone sees him or remembers something from early Saturday morning,” he said.
Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts was asked to contact the following people:
- Jeff Hollahan 602-571-4547 or jeff.hollahan@gmail.com
- Franz Seitz at the US Consulate, Frankfurt: 011-49-69-7535-2516 or 011-49-175-726-8343
- Christian Shults, ARSO, U.S. State Department: 011-49-170 634 3343
- Josh Freidman, Prague: 011-420-773-695-268
UPDATE I: Still No Clues into Scottsdale Banker’s Son Missing in Germany … Kidmapping Suggested as Motive
Some in the German media have suggested that this might be a kidnapping because the father of the missing man is a VP with a local branch of Morgan Stanley. However, if that were the case there would be some contact and a ransom offer. Is it more possible that the usual responsible individual became irresponsible and got involved with some unknown people who might have taken advantage of him? Or did the drinking and tipsy behavior turn into an accident that could have cost him his life?
The story that is being told by the friend does not seem to be the full one, IMHO.

The analysis has also proved that the young man, who disappeared without a trace in Frankfurt am Main a month ago, got drowned.
Police: Body found in river missing American man
