21 year old Denise Amber Lee has been missing since this past Thursday. She is believed to have been abducted. Michael Lee King has been arrested by police who is suspected of abducting Denise Amber Lee.
Description:
- a white 21 year old female
- 5’2” tall
- about 110 pounds
- She has dirty-blonde hair below her shoulder blades and a small mole under her chin on the right side of her face
Denise Amber Lee is thought to have been taken on Thursday from North Port, where her husband found their two young children alone in the home.
Later Thursday, authorities arrested Michael Lee King, 37, who they believe snatched Lee, the daughter of a Charlotte County sheriff’s lieutenant. But there has been no sign of her.
Neighbors: Man charged in kidnapping drove through area repeatedly
Neighbors of Denise Amber Lee said they had seen her reported abductor, Michael Lee King, drive by Lee’s house several times, including early yesterday morning.
Neighbor Jennifer Eckert said she saw King park his green Camaro in the driveway of Lee’s Latour Avenue home at about p.m. yesterday. Eckert said she came outside when she heard the Camaro pull in and made eye contact with the driver, presumably King. The driver then sped off, Eckert said.
Eckert told police what she saw, and that information helped identify King and his Camaro as a suspect. She said Lee’s husband later tearfully thanked her for the help.
The suspect, Michael King was caught and arrested Thursday night, hours after Lee was snatched from her North Port home.

The last man to have seen North Port resident Denise Amber Lee said Friday that she screamed for him to call the police before she was sped away by accused kidnapper Michael King.
Harold Muxlow Jr., 45, was startled by the incident outside his North Port home but said he did not immediately understand that there had been a kidnapping.
Muxlow said that King, his cousin, had a “psycho” girlfriend and that such drama was not necessarily unusual.
UPDATE I: Searchers Find Unidentified Body, Is It Denise Amber Lee?
The body of an unidentified white woman was found today in Sarasota County, FL. Could it be the body of missing Denise Amber Lee? There has yet to be a positive id. Deputies also announced that they plan to hold another news conference with Lee’s family at 10 a.m. Sunday.
Searchers have found the body of a white woman in Sarasota County, but have not positively identified it, officials with the North Port police department said today at a news conference.
Investigators have been looking for Denise Amber Lee, 21, who disappeared from her home in North Port on Thursday. They arrested Michael Lee King, 36, that night and charged him with kidnapping.
Deputies also announced that they plan to hold another news conference with Lee’s family at 10 a.m. Sunday.
At another news conference this morning, authorities reiterated there is no known relationship between Lee and the man in custody in connection with her disappearance.
“At this point the investigative team has nothing to believe it was anything more than an absolute random act of violence,” said Terry Lewis, police chief for the North Port Police Department.
UPDATE II: Cops Find Body in Search for Mother of 2 Believed Abducted From Florida Home
NORTH PORT, Fla. — Florida police on Saturday say they have found a body “likely” that of a missing mother of two, a day after arresting a man in connection with her alleged abduction and finding blonde hair and a woman’s ring in his car, MyFoxTampaBay.com reports.
UPDATE III: Grim find seems to seal a missing woman’s fate
A search-and-rescue team found the body after nearly 250 law enforcement officers from all over the region had joined in the search for Lee.
The body was found in a swampy wooded area that, though the crime-scene tape was visible from Interstate 75, was remote enough that investigators were being shuttled there by helicopter.
There is a large pond nearby, and people familiar with the area say large alligators abound.
Police would not conclusively say that the body found Saturday was Lee’s.
UPDATE IV: Medical Examiner ID’s Body In Shallow Grave As Denise Lee
The sad yet not unexpected news is coming out of Florida today. The medical examiner has positively ID’d the body found in a shallow grave as that of missing Denise Amber Lee. May she rest in peace.
TAMPA – A body found Saturday in a shallow grave in Sarasota County has been positively identified as Denise Amber Lee of North Port, authorities announced today.
Lee, the 21-year-old daughter of a veteran sheriff’s lieutenant, had been missing since Thursday.
“We’ve identified the remains of the victim we found yesterday as our victim Denise,” said North Port Police Chief Terry Lewis. “She is with God.”
