Body of Missing Chris Newsom Recovered in East Knoxville, Girl friend Channon Christian Still Missing (Update: Girl friend found deceased)
The partially burned body of Chris Newsom was found in East Knoxville, TN. Cris Newsom, 23, was found near the railroad tracks on Ninth Avenue. He had been shot and his body was partially burned. Newsom’s remains had been located in the same area where Channon Christian’s vehicle was found. The search continues for 21 year old Channon Christian.
Chris Newsom and his girlfriend, 21 year-old Channon Christian, have been missing since Saturday night, when they were last seen at an East Knox County apartment complex.
Police confirm that a missing person’s report was filed Sunday for Channon Christian.
A major search involving more than 40 officers is now underway in the area in East Knoxville where Chris Newsom’s body was found.
Sgt. Tim Snodderly of the Knoxville Police Department said in a Monday afternoon press conference that Channon Christian’s vehicle was found in the same area Newsom’s body was found.
Snodderly also told reporters that neither Christian nor Newsom have any criminal record, and that the pair did not live together. (WBIR)
UPDATE: Woman’s body found, police confirm it is missing woman
There is more sad news to report out of East Knoxville. The body of missing Channon Christian was recovered and identified. Her body was located in a rental house on the 2300 block of Chipman Street in East Knoxville.
KNOXVILLE (WATE) — Investigators Tuesday night have confirmed that the body of a woman found in a Knoxville home is that of 21 year-old Channon Christian.
The body was found at a rental house on the 2300 block of Chipman Street in East Knoxville. It was taken to the UT Forensic Center and the positive identification was made.
Investigators are now apparently working two murders.
Christopher Newsom, 23, and Christian, 21, disappeared Saturday night while they were on a date.

I truly hope the two guys the Police are searching for are found. I can’t imagine what Channon went thru before she died. If they are found guilty they need to be burned like poor Chris was. SICK!

I just heard on the news, they caught one of the guys in Kentucky and then SWAT team caught the other in Knoxville. Great news, I hope they pay for their crimes.

I cannot believe what this world has came to!! No one deserves to die like these two innocent young adults did. It is one thing to kill someone, but to torture them is another. My paryers are with the families of these two victims.

This did not occur nor were the bodies found in East Knoxville. Geographically speaking, the location was North Knoxville.

I think that they deserve the death penalty. It was completely
animalistic and evil. What I have noticed is a separation in the racial community. These people invloved in this did it on their own…and will suffer the consequences on their own.
Being black has absolutely nothing to do with this horrible deed and I pray for the families in what I see as a terrible nightmare. There was no neccesity in this…none. Lex

and then this a-hole defense attorney accually ask that his client is granted bail. he needs to be smacked in the head.

M&E: This story has been one of the least covered stories for as henous as the crime was. Especially when at one point this was a double missing person case. Then it was a homicide, missing person case. Then it became a double homicide, rape case.
Two young people were the victims. Usually that is the recipe for a news story in todays media. In this case, it really was not.

I am so sorry fo the familys that they have had to go threw this and i pray that these men pay for what they did may our God in heaven look upon the familys and carry them threw all of the pain and heartach that they are going threw i am so sorry that all of this has happened to them and i hope that the familys no that our God is a just God and no matter what the judge says they will pay for what they did threw pain and hurt there selves I pray that the newsom and the christion family be blessed in this time of hurt and just deppened on God cause he is the only one that is going to carry you threw God Bless you all

This is a shame, those cowards will get what they deserve. They have no remorse for life….Trust me, They are black and have been accussed of killing a white couple… May only God have mercy on their souls….This is America and I am sure they know the Punishment will be severe….
