The disappearance occurred during Parent’s Weekend.

“She’s out of place with no logical explanation for being out of place,” said police Detective Kim Edwards. “At this point we do not believe she left on her own free will.”

Police said there was concern Gardner-Quinn may have fallen prey to a man who tried to lure a woman into his car at about the same time she was last seen, about three-quarters of a mile away.

That woman told police the man — in his 20s, driving a white “Subaru-type” hatchback vehicle and wearing a baseball cap and gray hooded sweat shirt — asked her to get into the car and she refused, according to Police Chief Thomas Tremblay.

According to Tremblay, that happened about 20 minutes after Gardner-Quinn was last seen, but he said it was unclear if that was related and he conceded that investigators were struggling for leads. (WHDH 3)

Anyone with information was asked to call Burlington police at (802) 658-2700.

“We have many detectives working on the case round the clock,” Edwards said. “We’re following a bunch of leads, following up to include or exclude people or vehicles.”

Police said earlier that they had spoken with the man Gardner-Quinn’s friends saw her leave with early Saturday and that he was not a suspect in her disappearance.

“She’s not the type of person who would just disappear,” said friend Tammy Lang. (Houston Chronicle)

  4. This reminds me of when laci Peterson was missing.
I hope the police are not wasting all of their efforts looking for this mysterious white subaru which may or may not even exist, the woman could be lying to throw the police off or just to sound important. The answer is always closer to home than they think.

  5. I somehow doubt the witness was lying about what car he had, especially in the interest of throwing off the police investigation. Basically, it’s take the witness’s word or have no trail to follow at all. They aren’t waisting their time on what they believe to be a valid lead to the case. Time is of the essence, especially in this situation. They can’t look for her if they don’t know where else to start. And what does this have to do with Laci Peterson?

  7. My heartfelt prayers to friends of Michelle. I cannot explain to you how I have come across this information except that I see things. I am not pulling a hoax or trying to hurt anyone. I have been asked to help and that is what i am doing.

The police need to look for a small green road sign that says “Dupont”. There will be woods to the right of this sign. Tracking thru the woods in a straight line there( go for a while,it is a ways…) They need to go down the rivine. Track to the left . Walk 100 yards, and look across, or by the time you get this, look in the water.

The man they are looking for is from Mass. His first name is Daniel. I am working on understanding his last name.

You are all in my prayers May God bless you and keep you in peace.

  8. Body of Missing UVM Student Found

    Huntington, Vermont – October 13, 2006

A sad ending to an exhaustive search. Channel 3 News has learned that police have found the body of Michelle Gardner-Quinn, the missing UVM student.

Official sources tell us that her body was found Friday near the Huntington Gorge in Richmond. We are told it was not in the gorge, but along Dugway Road.

No other details are known at this time.

Michelle has been missing since early Saturday morning. She was seen walking with a man who has been called ‘cell phone man’. A man who loaned her his cell phone so she could call her friends. The police have not identified him, but Channel 3 News has learned he is 36-year old Brian Rooney who used to live in Richmond.

There is still no word why dozens of police officers, including a forensic lab, spent the day at a house being rehabilitated on Spruce Street in Burlington. Police spent much of the last two days there. most of the day.

Police have scheduled a press conference for 4:30 p.m. Friday.

  14. This is horrible, what is with people these days. Everytime you turn on the news there is another sad story. I first read about Michlle online yesterday (as I do not read the paper or watch tv) and then today I come online to find out they have found her body. Sorry goes out from me to her friends and family.

  16. I do not know Michelle at all but feel so attached to her beauty. You can tell by her angelic face that she is so pure, sweet, loving, caring and in general just a beautiful person inside and out. I think is is a horrible shame that someone like this would have their life taken at such a wonderful time in her life and wonder why it couldn’t be someone like me who lives in constant physical pain who has had my best years. It angers me so much that I have not rested since she first went missing, and on a night she was having so much fun with new friends. God has his reasons, but that doesn’t mean we have to like them.
My heart and soul go out to each and every one of you who know and love Michelle. To everyone who has ever been touched by this beautiful angels life. I pray that your hearts will mend quickly and be filled with wonderful memories of Michelle and acknowledge that you will be with her in a short time in a much better world. She is there, she is watching and she wants you to be happy. God Bless

  17. My prayers go out to Michelles family. What a horrible tragedy. My husband worked with Brian Rooney over the last four months and said he would have never in a million years guessed he was a sick freak.I think my husband is a little upset with himself for not seeing Brian for who he really is. It gives me the creeps this guy has been in my house before. There has been many sleepless nights in my household and many tears shed for Michelle. May she rest in peace.
