Funeral for Marilyn Bethell
Family and friends paid their final respects to Marilyn Bethell. Marilyn Bethell had been missing for nearly two months until she was found the day after Christmas.
About 100 mourners gathered today at a Glen Ellyn church for the funeral of Marilyn Bethell, a woman missing nearly two months before her body was found the day after Christmas along a trail in rural Kane County.
Bethell, 47, was memorialized during an hour-long service at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, 490 S. Park Blvd. Police have said Bethell died of blunt trauma to the head and declared her death a homicide.
Not going into any detail as to her demise, Reverend Ouper said the following:
Rev. John Ouper acknowledged family and friends probably had many questions about her death. He said those who loved Bethell should know also that she was with God now.
“We come with incredible questions and heavy hearts,” Ouper said. “We come here knowing that Marilyn is at home with God. She’s in heaven, rejoicing with her parents.”
Police have no suspects in custody for the woman’s death but have been looking for two men who were seen about a mile from her home October 31.
