This Cannot Be Good; Prosecutors Say Kara Borden Wasn’t Kidnapped
According to court papers filed on Monday by prosecutors, Kara Borden, the 14-year-old girl whose 18-year-old boyfriend is accused of killing her parents left with him willingly after he shot them. However, there is still no evidence that Kara knew of David Ludwig’s plan.
David Ludwig told detectives Kara Borden ran from her home and into his car after he shot her parents Nov. 13, and Borden said she went with him of her own free will, according to documents filed by Lancaster County prosecutors. They said kidnapping charges against Ludwig would be dropped.
Ludwig confessed to the killings, saying he shot the parents after the father told him to stop seeing his daughter, according to the filing. Ludwig said he shot Michael Borden in the back as he was going down the hallway to the front door and then headed toward Cathryn Borden.
Ludwig confessed to authorities saying the following:
“I shot mom as she was sitting in the chair,” Ludwig was quoted as saying. “It was an intentional murder, I intended to shoot them, and I did.”
CNN: Affidavit: Girl willingly left with parents’ alleged killer
(CNN) — A 14-year-old Pennsylvania girl saw her boyfriend kill her father, then fled the scene with the 18-year-old to “get as far away as possible, get married and start a new life,” prosecutors alleged in court papers filed Monday.
What on earth were these kids thinking?
According to authorities, Ludwig and Michael Borden got into a 30- to 45-minute argument in which the father said Ludwig was no longer allowed to see his 14-year-old daughter, Kara. Ludwig told authorities he went to the home armed with multiple weapons, according to the court papers.
The girl “observed the defendant pull out a gun and shoot her father,” the document says. “As she fled from the house, [she] then saw the defendant turn and point his gun towards her mother.”

Such a beautiful girl to have such a black cold heart. Bad taste and judgement on her part..sad thing is that in a year or two she would probably have realized what most teenagers her age find out…this wasn’t her true love as she thought..now she lost 2 people who actually did love her and she will never get that love back again…so sad.

I’ll probably get jumped on for saying this, but what the hell kind of lawyer did Ludwig have, if he had one at all? If he had a lawyer, the lawyer is incompetent.
There can be no doubt that he killed the parents, but what I have wondered from the beginning is whether or not there is reasonable doubt about pre-meditation. I know that toting a gun over to the house is evidence of pre-meditation–but what if there is something else that injects reasonable doubt?
My understanding is that the death penalty is on the table. If Ludwig had a lawyer who let him say these things, I hope that any of you who may live in the area will avoid his lawyer like the plague if you or your loved ones are accused of a crime.
