Lynn Moran, 24, Missing in Portland, ME

Lynn Moran, 24, of Shrewsbury, MA has been missing 11 days according to police. Police fear that there has been foul play. She has been missing since October 10, Moran2005 when she traveled to Portland, ME over the Columbus Day weekend and had lunch with friends. Moran had left her purse and cell phone at her friend’s apartment. Police also found her car where she had parked it.

Police from Portland, Maine, searching for a missing Massachusetts woman fear she might have been the victim of foul play, authorities said yesterday.

Lynn Moran, 24, of Shrewsbury has been missing 11 days.

Moran traveled to Portland to visit friends over the Columbus Day weekend. She went out to lunch with them on Oct. 10 before going to an acquaintance’s apartment, said Lieutenant Vern Malloch, commander of the Portland Police Detective’s Bureau.

Police said Moran was last seen by a passerby around 10 p.m. that night. The witness told police Moran was alone and wandering around the Old Port shopping district barefoot and wearing a men’s long-sleeved shirt. It was raining that night, said Malloch.

Moran had left her purse and cell phone at her friend’s apartment. Police also found her car where she had parked it.

One witness called in a tip saying that Moran was seen in South Portland, a short distance from Old Port, Malloch said. Police in South Portland and more than 100 volunteers scoured wooded areas, using canine teams and aerial surveillance, but turned up nothing, he said.

”Right now we are re-interviewing witnesses and friends of hers, following up tips, reviewing surveillance videos, and interviewing Old Port cabdrivers who might have seen something,” said Malloch.

The family has offered a $10,000 reward for information that might lead to the where abouts of Lynn Moran.

Saying they are growing desperate as time passes, relatives of a missing Massachusetts woman are offering a $10,000 reward for information that might lead to the former Portland resident.

“Someone has to have seen her,” said Chris Moran, sister of Lynn Moran, the 24-year-old woman who was last seen at about 11 p.m. on Oct. 10 in Portland’s Old Port section. “She is striking. She turns heads.”

WSCH6 News; Search For Missing Woman To Continue

The search for Lynn Moran has been scaled back. Tuesday, more than 100 volunteers canvassed South Portland looking for the 24 year old woman, but that search is over.

The volunteers were members of police and fire departments and search rescue teams from around the state. But they were unable to find anything linking them to Lynn Moran.

K-9 teams and volunteers searched every area twice. The warden service feels they’ve run out of areas to search and they covered the areas they were in as well as they could. But this isn’t the end of the search.

Remains may be those of missing ISU woman, Olamide Adeyooye

According to the Chicago Sun Times, The remains of a woman believed to be in her early 20s were found in recent days in a rural Mississippi chicken house. Authorities believe that they may be of the missing ILL State student, Olamide Adeyooye. Although it has not been confirmed there seem to be striking physical similarities.

The remains of a woman believed to be in her early 20s were found in recent days in a rural Mississippi chicken house, and authorities said Monday they may be a missing Illinois State University student.

Police in Downstate Normal — where 21-year-old Olamide Adeyooye disappeared two weeks ago from an off-campus apartment — were notified Sunday or Monday about the possible link. Illinois authorities are sending dental and medical records to the coroner in Newton County, Miss., about 70 miles east of Jackson and Interstate 55. Police would not say whether the woman found is Adeyooye, but family and friends have been told the physical similarities are striking. It could be several days until the coroner can make a final identification, authorities in Mississippi said.

Police send Adeyooye’s medical records to Mississippi Olamide

Normal police provided medical records of missing ISU student Olamide Adeyooye to Mississippi authorities Monday after receiving word that an unidentified female body had been recovered.

The Normal Police received a call yesterday afternoon from Mississippi State Highway Patrol that an unidentified body had been discovered, NPD Lieutenant Mark Kotte said.

Update from WFIE 14, most likely the body recovered by police in Mississippi will not be identified until Wednesday.

Authorities say they likely won’t know until at least Wednesday whether a body found in Mississippi is that of a missing Illinois State University student. Police in Normal said they’re still collecting medical and dental records Tuesday that will be used to determine whether the unidentified body is that of 21-year-old ISU senior Olamide Adeyooye. Police say they hope to send the records to Mississippi later in the day.

“Whether or not this pans out to be the body of Olamide … is to be seen,” he said.

Adeyooye’s family is hopeful that the body is not hers.

“It just hit me, you know, my sister could be dead,” said Adewale Adeyooye, the missing woman’s brother. “And this whole time, even though this whole thing was going on, it was hard to believe.”

Mississippi authorities notified Normal investigators about the body Monday in response to a nationwide alert seeking Adeyooye and her car, Kotte said. The car, a green 1996 Toyota Corolla, still was missing.

The alert notifies investigators any time an unidentified body is found that could match Adeyooye’s description, Kotte said. It is the first report Normal police received since their investigation began, he said.
