An AMBER ALERT has been issued for a 9 year old, Lake Forest boy, Ryan Ramos in Orange County, CA. Authorities say a man, Lonnie Ramos, who allegedly shot his estranged wife and abducted their 9-year-old son may be driving a rented RV. Lonnie Ramos abducted Ryan on July 2, 2008.

Ryan Ramos, 9 year old abducted
National Center for Missing & Exploited Children: Amber Alert
Circumstances: Ryan was abducted by his father, Lonnie Ramos, on July 2, 2008. A felony warrant for Kidnapping was issued for the abductor on July 2, 2008. They may be traveling in a red Porsche with license plates 4BWU827 or a white Chevrolet Suburban with license plates 5LTC712 or a 2005 Fleetwood Providence RV with California license plates 5EGW556 similar to the one pictured above. CAUTION IS ADVISED.
Description of father Lonnie Ramos:
A man who allegedly shot his estranged wife in the face and fled with his 9-year-old son may have switched his car for a motor home, authorities said Thursday.
An Amber Alert was in effect throughout California for Lonnie Ramos, 46. He was believed to be driving a rented 39-foot purple-and-gold Fleetwood Providence motor home with the license plate number 5EGW556, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said.
Ramos was possibly in the San Diego area and Border Patrol agents were notified in case he tried to head for Mexico, sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino said.
Amormino said Ramos was considered “armed and extremely dangerous.”
Ramos apparently jumped out from behind a car or bushes and shot his estranged wife in the face with a semiautomatic weapon about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday when she drove to his home in the Portola Hills area to pick up their son, Ryan, for a custody exchange, Amormino said. (Fox News)
Police ask that anyone who has information on the shooting and abduction of Ryan Ramos please contact the Orange County Sheriff’s Office at 714-628-7170 or dial 911
UPDATE I: Lake Forest man accused of kidnapping son and shooting estranged wife had financial and personal problems
UPDATE II: Amber Alert issued for child who could be in Utah
Ramos was seen with his son trying to buy plane tickets out of John Wayne Airport after the incident occurred. Ramos has family in Texas and Washington, D.C. Police say he may also have ties to Utah, although they haven’t specified what those ties may be.
UPDATE III: Orange County authorities expected to make the announcement at a press conference later Saturday morning.
They think Ramos may have rented a purple and gold Fleetwood Providence motor home with license plate 5EGW556.
UPDATE IV: Utah Amber Alert no longer in effect for Ryan Ramos
UPDATE V: Father (Lonnie Ramos) who took boy (Ryan Ramos) likely in Mexico, say police
The Amber Alert went out to Utah late Friday because Ramos has a girlfriend in Draper, police said. It was canceled at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday. A Wednesday sighting of the motor home in Utah was likely mistaken, Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jim Amormino said.
Police are planning to search the motor home, a 2005 Fleetwood Providence, for possible clues and then work with Mexican authorities to pursue Ramos, Amormino said.
Mexican law prevents its citizens from being extradited to the United States for death penalty charges, but Ramos is neither a Mexican citizen nor a death
UPDATE VI: Ryan Ramos Found Safe in Mexico
Ryan Romas has been found safe in a church in Juarez Mexico. His father is still a fugative.
Authorities on Sunday announced that Ryan Ramos, allegedly kidnapped by his father last week, has been found safe in Mexico.
Lonnie Ramos, the boy’s father, allegedly shot his estranged wife and then kidnapped Ryan, according to Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Officials said that the boy will be reunited with his family shortly. His mother, Gynnae Ramos is recovering from the shooting.
Lonnie Ramos has not been found, according to authorities.
Kidnapped 9-year-old found in Mexican church
A 9-year-old boy missing from Southern California has been found at a church in Mexico, just across the border from El Paso, Texas.
Ryan Ramos was found alone but safe in Juarez Sunday afternoon and is now with U.S. officials there. He’s said to be in “excellent condition”.
UPDATE VII: Fugitive Dad Killed By Bus
A desperate five-day search for a 9-year-old boy abducted by his father in Southern California ended in Mexico, where the man died after being hit by a bus and the boy was found safe in a Mormon church building, authorities said Monday.
Ryan Ramos was found alone Sunday in a Mormon church building in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, and arrived in Orange County early Monday, where he was reunited with his family, sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino said.

15 year old Jeffrey Blake Stone had been missing since March 24, 2008 when he disappeared from his home Attalla, AL. Now comes the grizzly find … the body of 15 year-old Jeffrey Blake Stone was found in a freezer. The sad news of the discovery of Jeffrey Blake Stone’s body was only made worse by the manner in how he was killed. It appears from all accounts that Jeffrey Blake Stone was murdered as a thrill kill by Nathaniel Wayne Lee and Troy Andrew Smiley.
“It appears this senseless murder of this 15-year-old had been planned for weeks,” Sheriff Todd Entrekin said.
“And once they got him over there, they executed their plan for no other reason than to get the rush from killing somebody.”
Entrekin said it is believed Stone, who had been reported missing on March 24, was killed the day he went missing.
What is this world coming to? What a senseless murder.
Stone was reported missing in late march. Two young men are being questioned by deputies, and charges are expected later today.
The Etowah County Sheriff says the body was found in a chest-type freezer at a home in the Littleton community.
Investigators say they believe Stone was killed and initially buried somewhere else, and then moved to the freezer sometime last week.
The freezer found just down the road from where Stone lived.
Two Etowah County men have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Missing Jeffrey Blake Stone
Nathaniel Wayne Lee, 19, of 1176 Littleton Cut-off Road, Attalla, and Troy Andrew Smiley, 22, of 1084 Anna Drive, Attalla, have been served with warrants and are being held in the Etowah County Detention Center.
No bond was set.
Stone had been missing since March 24, and it’s believed he was killed that day. Stone was fatally shot.
Investigators received a new lead Tuesday morning that pointed them to a shallow grave on a logging road, Sheriff Todd Entrekin said. He said evidence at that site prompted investigators to obtain a search warrant for a home not far from where Stone lived with his father and stepmother, Jeff and Lynn Stone.
Etowah Thrill Kill Arrests
Wednesday night: 19-year-old Nathaniel Wayne Lee and a 22-year-old Troy Andrew Smiley are in custody, charged with murder. Detectives say the pair lived just down the road from the Stone family, where they did not work, but instead the Sheriff says they “smoked dope together” and hatched a plan to kill someone: just for the rush of killing, according to the DA. “For a 15-year-old child to be taken out of the world for two folks to have a thrill is just very disturbing to me and I think I speak for all the investigators in the Sheriff’s Department as well,” Harp said.

An AMBER ALERT has been issued for 12 year old Brooke Bennett from Braintree, VT. Brooke Bennett has been missing since 9 am Wednesday, June 25, 2008. An uncle dropped her at a Cumblerand Farms convenience store in nearby Randolph, VT. Brooke had told her parents that she was being picked up by a female friend and visiting a sick relative at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, in Lebanon, NH. It is now believed by police that the story was a lie.

(Brooke Bennett)
Description
-
Bennett is 4 feet, 11 inches tall
-
weighs 98 pounds
-
brown hair
-
blue eyes
-
she was last seen wearing a pink sweater, blue jeans and a pair of white sneakers with pink lettering.
-
Her hair has purple streaks and both of her ears are pierced on the top and bottom.
Police fear that 12 year old Brooke Bennett may have been taken by someone that she met online through the social networking Web site MySpace
Surveillance footage from the Cumberland Farms store, which police have so far declined to release, showed the girl being dropped off. Instead of meeting the friend, she is seen walking away from the store, alone, toward the village of Randolph, police say.

She was not reported missing by family members until 9 p.m. Wednesday night.
Early Thursday, clothing similar to what the girl had been wearing was recovered in Brookfield, 10 miles north of Randolph.
The discovery triggered an intense ground search of the area by the state police search and rescue team and dogs from two different departments. “The items have been sent to the Vermont Forensic Laboratory for examination,” according to the release.
Dive teams will search Sunset Lake today, a body of water near where the clothing was found, according to the State Police .
There are two MySpace account profiles. Talk about a contrast:

UPDATE I: Pictures from Surveillance video of store that Brooke was in with her uncle
VIDEO

Authorities haven’t identified the person she was communicating with, but state police computer experts were analyzing the computer in a bid to learn more. They don’t know if it was a woman or a man.
The girl established her first MySpace account under her father’s supervision, but he later pulled the plug on it a couple of months ago after they learned about some of her activity on it, according to Bennett, 41, of Bethel, Vt.
“We told her when we set it up there that’s things you’re not gonna’ do,” he said. “We had a little respect problem after a month or so, so we shut it off. There was an issue, and we decided it was not appropriate for her to have it. We changed the password so she couldn’t use it,” he said.
She later set up an account from another computer, which Bennett said he didn’t know until a week ago. The girl lives with her mother in Braintree, not with Bennett.
UPDATE II: Brooke Bennett Missing Persons Press Conference VIDEO
America’s Most Wanted
But after Brooke Bennett was dropped off at the store by her uncle and cousin, she never made it to the hospital, and hasn’t been seen since.
Surveillance video from that day shows Brooke walking away from the store by herself towards the town of Randolph. When a family member in Brookefield found items of her clothing near her uncle’s home — the house where she was supposed to spend the night — it prompted an intensive search by police dogs and helicopters.
The investigation led by Vermont State Police has uncovered that MySpace, a popular social networking site, may have had something to do with her disappearance. After analyzing her computer, authorities learned that Brooke had been in contact with someone on the site days before she went missing. Investigators have not yet released the identity of that person.
National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
Circumstances: Both photos shown are of Brooke. She was last seen on June 25, 2008 at a gas station in Randolph, Vermont. She may travel north to the Royalton, Vermont area or she may travel out of state. Brooke has a mole under her chin, a birthmark on her upper right arm, a scar on her calf, and her ears are double pierced. Her bottom teeth are discolored. When Brooke was last seen, she had purple highlights in her hair. She was last seen wearing a pink sweater, blue jeans, and white sneakers with pink lettering.

The logistics of where Brooke was last seen and where her clothes were found, the Floating bridge at Sunset Lake is actually about 7-8 miles away from the Cumberland Farms in Randolph where Brooke was last seen, so it’s doubtful she could have walked there.
UPDATE III: Witness Updates of disappearance of Brooke Bennett
According to reports, witnesses saw Brooke Bennett outside of a laundromat and Dunkin Donuts between the hours of 9:30 and 11:00 am in Randolph, VT. Police have also stated that some of her clothes were found lying beside Route 65 near the floating bridge. The clothes have been sent to the state forensic office.
Witnesses saw Brooke outside a laundromat and Dunkin Donuts in Randolph Wednesday morning between 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. She wasn’t seen again– but some of her clothes were found along route 65 in Brookfield.
Bennett was last seen on surveillance at Cumberland Farms. She enters the store with her uncle, he purchases coffee and some cigarettes, and they leave the store. Brooke walks left, her uncle goes right.
“We know she stayed in that area for a period of time… because we have witnesses that put her in that area,” says Vt. State Police Col. James Baker.
Police found several pieces of Brooke’s clothing lying beside Route 65 near the floating bridge Thursday. That prompted a search Friday of Sunset Lake– but that search turned up no new clues.
UPDATE IV: In Wake of Brooke Bennett Disappearance, Local experts warn of Internet dangers
As police work to piece together the online correspondence that prompted Brooke Bennett of Braintree to arrange a meeting with an apparent stranger, experts are warning parents to keep tabs on their kids’ Internet use.
Gary Kessler, who teaches digital forensics at Champlain College, said a very low-tech approach can help prevent problems.
“You show an interest in kids’ lives, and you communicate those interests,” he told The Burlington Free Press. “It comes down to what kind of relationship you have with your kids.”
UPDATE V: Fliers posted for Brooke Bennett in VT (Video)
UPDATE VI: Search for missing 12-year-old girl widens
The search for a missing 12-year-old girl broadened Friday as the FBI joined in and police investigators turned to officials at MySpace.com, the online social networking site through which she had been communicating with an unknown person prior to her disappearance.
Experts in missing children say the Internet can be a dangerous place.
“The reality is that the internet is the predator’s new playground. They don’t have to lurk in bushes anymore, they can lurk in cyberspace,” said Marc Klaas, founder of the Klaaskids Foundation, of Sausalito, Calif.
“It provides them with a much greater degree of anonymity. It enables them to create any kind of a fantasy or fake life they want so they can use their well-honed manipulative skills to get close to the particularly vulnerable,” said Klaas, whose 12-year-old daughter, Polly Klaas was abducted from a slumber party in 1993 and later found slain.

A typhoon in the Philippines has capsized a ferry where 700 people are missing and feared dead. To date, 28 survivors have been rescued; however, hundreds are still missing. The Princess of the Stars ferry left Manila on Friday en route to Cebu when contact was lost.
820 missing as ferry capsizes in typhoon
- Ferry leaves Manila on Friday
- 626 passengers and 121 crew on board
- Engines failed Saturday afternoon
- Radio contact lost soon afterwards
- Rescuers reach ship on Sunday afternoon

The ferry was en route to Cebu from Manila when it capsized on Saturday
Coast guard chief Vice Adm. Wilfredo Tamayo said 28 survivors of the ferry disaster had been found. Manila’s DZBB radio said the survivors, including four crewmen and three women, drifted at sea for more than 24 hours wearing their life jackets, reaching Mulanay township in eastern Quezon province late Sunday.
Coast guard frogmen who managed to get to the stricken ship got no response when they rapped on the hull with metal instruments, then had to give up late Sunday due to the strong waves. The ship carried more than 740 passengers and crew.
Update I: 800 missing as typhoon Philippines ferry … 32 survivors recovered.
The recovery brought to 32 the number of survivors recovered from the sinking of the Princess of the Stars Saturday off the coast of Sibuyan Island in the central Philippines.
On Sunday, four survivors were found in San Fernando town on Sibuyuan island.
The 24,000-tonne ferry sank after running aground due to huge waves and strong winds spawned by Typhoon Fengshen, which left at least 152 people dead.
Scores drowned and missing as typhoon lashes Philippines
UPDATE II: Divers retrieve bodies from Philippine ferry
While the divers have only found bodies so far, officials were not willing to give up hope of finding more survivors among the more than 800 people missing since the seven-story ferry listed and went down in a half-hour or less Saturday.
“There is a slim chance that we can still find survivors” insided the ferry, coast guard Lt. Cmdr Rogelio Villanueva said. “As the days pass, indeed the chance is getting slimmer.”
