Another incident has happened aboard a cruise ship. This time there is a reported rape of a teenager aboard the P&O cruise ship, Pacific Star.
A teenage girl has told police she was raped aboard the P&O cruise ship, Pacific Star after a party on board the ship on Wednesday night. The company says it is fully cooperating with an investigation, but the family of another victim is demanding action to stop it happening again. It has been 4 years since Dianne Brimble’s body was found, lying on a cabin floor of the Pacific Sky and since then, her ex-husband Mark has been fighting for justice and to make cruise ships safe.
These types of incidents just seem to continue over and over. Yes, cruise ships are like floating cities; however, one does not expect to pay for a vacation and be surrounded by a criminal element that would harm, rape or rob them.
Now, a teenage girl has claimed she was raped by an older man, while two of his mates watched after a night of partying and drinking. The young victim tried to jump overboard after the alleged attack. Mr Brimble said: “Incidents like this can and will continue to happen on cruise liners as they continue to sail around the world.” (Yahoo News)

Six detectives boarded the Pacific Star as it cruised along the Queensland coast on Friday after the girl, 16, claimed she was assaulted in a cabin in front of two other men. Plainclothes officers took a New South Wales man, 23, off the ship in handcuffs when it docked in Brisbane yesterday and charged him with possession of a dangerous drug, believed to be ecstasy. Police would not comment on whether the man was linked to the sex assault allegations. “Police can confirm they have investigated allegations of a sexual assault of a teenage girl on board a P&O Cruise vessel,” a spokesman said. UPDATE: Cruise rape claim: Queensland police won’t lay charges
Police will lay no charges over an alleged rape of a teenager on P&O’s Pacific Star. “The matter has been thoroughly investigated by detectives and there is no evidence to substantiate any charges being laid in relation to the sexual assault allegation,” a spokesman for Queensland police said. “If further information came up it would be investigated.” (The West Australian)

An Amber Alert has been issued in Arizona. Police are on the hunt for 6-year-old Olivia Alvarez, who was allegedly abducted from her home near Phoenix, Arizona this morning. She is believed to be in the company of George Richard Horner, 26, who was convicted in 2004 of sexual conduct with a minor and is a registered sex offender.
According to Louisiana’s online sex offender registry, Horner was convicted of sexual conduct with a minor in Pinal County in 2004. He listed an address in Maurice, La. Vasquez said Horner was also registered as a sex offender with his office. (Fox News)
UPDATE I: An AMBER ALERT in AZ successfully located a missing 6 year old girl who was abducted earlier this morning by registered sex offender, Richard Horner. However, registered sex offended Richard Horner is still at large.
The suspect, George Richard Horner III, 26, is still on the loose.
Horner is a registered sex offender in Louisiana.
Police say the suspect was driving a 1993 teal green Nissan Pathfinder with Louisiana license plate PKL-399. He is believed to be headed to Lafayette, La.
The little girl is in police custody in the Casa Grande area. Horner reportedly released her in a residential neighborhood after hearing radio reports that police were looking for him. (AZ Family)
There has been some dispute as to the relationship between George Horner and the 6 year old girls mother.
UPDATE: Mom speaks in press conference. It was she who notified the police. She was not aware he was a sex offender, “Or he would not have been within 100 million miles of my house!” Alvarez met Horner through a mutual friend, and said she trusted him because a good friend did. (Digital Journal)
UPDATE III: Arizona Police Seek Suspect in Sexual Assault, Kidnap of 6-Year-old Girl
Officials had initially identified Horner as the mother’s live-in boyfriend, but Lt. Scott Elliott later said Horner had only been staying at the home after being introduced to the mother by a mutual friend. The Associated Press initially identified the girl but is no longer doing so because she is believed to have been sexually assaulted.
Horner was supposed to take the girl to school Friday. But the mother called police after her call to her house from work went unanswered and after being told the girl wasn’t at school.
UPDATE IV: Suspect in Kidnapping (George Horner), Sexual Assault of 6-Year-Old Arizona Girl Arrested
George Richard Horner, registered sex offender, was arrested Saturday morning.
George Richard Horner, 26, was located at about 10:30 a.m. near the town of Coolidge by an investigator who had been searching for him, sheriff’s spokesman Mike Minter said.
Horner was found in the Nissan Pathfinder SUV deputies had been seeking since the incident and was taken into custody without incident, Minter said. He was being questioned by detectives Saturday afternoon. (Fox News)

Its being reported that the man, Joshua Thurber, accused of kidnapping, raping and murdering Jodi Sanderholm had past allegations against him. Allegations that seemed to have gone by the wayside as Thurber was never charged. It does appear that Thurber did have run-ins with the law. When will we ever learn that a criminal element escalates their crimes until all too often it becomes murder.
An Ark City woman claims Joshua Thurber tried to abduct her niece. Loretta Caballero says last April her 11-year-old niece was held by Thurber, against her will.
According to police reports, the young girl was asked by a friend of her mom to help the friend translate a conversation with Thurber. The friend didn’t speak English very well, so the 11-year-old girl tried to help.
The girl says the woman and Thurber started fighting, and Thurber refused to take them home. Instead, he kept them in his car and drove farther away from town. The girl also says Thurber was exposing himself to both of them.
In the end, both girls jumped from the moving car, ran to a nearby home and called police.
Police showed the girl a photo lineup and she immediately picked out Thurber’s picture. (KAKE)
It always seems the case that when predators get away with lesser crimes, they are destined to do it again and escalate the violence until they get caught. We are still trying to understand how the “lewd and lascivious” behavior was allowed to go without incident.
The police reports called the case criminal restraint, endangering a child and lewd and lascivious behavior. But days and weeks went by without an arrest. To this day Thurber has never been charged with these crimes.
Cowley County Attorney Chris Smith says the case was eventually turned over to his office but there wasn’t enough evidence to file charges. It would be Mariela’s word against Thurber’s and Mariela admitted she got in his car willingly.

In an effort to help in the world wide battle for missing & exploited children, First Lady Laura Bush has taken up the cause.
The missing and sexually exploited children of the world are the most vulnerable among us. There are so many countries that have little to no laws protecting child. Child pornography and trafficking have become an epidemic. It is about time that this problem is taken seriously in other countries.

James Bardour, Broadway star known for playing the Beast in “Beauty and the Beast” has been charged with five counts of criminal sexual acts and sexual abuse of a 15 year old. Bardour pleaded not guilty to the charges that stem back to 2001.
James Barbour, 40, was charged with five counts of criminal sex acts and sexual abuse against the teen back in 2001. She came forward earlier this year before the five-year statute of limitations expired.
Assistant District Attorney Maxine Rosenthal, speaking at the hearing, said prosecutors were aware of a second case in which Barbour allegedly had sexual contact with another underage girl, in California.
If the New York case goes to trial, Rosenthal said, she will try to introduce evidence regarding the uncharged California case. She did not discuss specifics. (International Herald Tribune)
In a statement from April 2006, James Bardour states quite a different version of events. What does it say? Blames the 15 year old of course.
In a written statement signed April 4, 2006, and made public Wednesday by Rosenthal, Barbour said sexual contact with the girl, a student at the high school he attended, was initiated by her when he had dinner with her and her boyfriend.
The girl later told him she was 16 and wanted to pursue a career in theater, Barbour’s statement said.
During a subsequent telephone conversation, the statement said, Barbour asked the girl what she was thinking the night they had dinner together, “and she said ‘I was thinking I wanted to’” have sex with him.
One evening, he and the girl went to his apartment, and they lay in bed and discussed sex acts and kissed, the statement said.

The now-20-year-old woman, who is working in the theater, came forward only recently - just within the five-year statute of limitations.

Prosecutors charge that the girl, who was visiting from a nearby suburb, was molested backstage as her parents sat in the audience and then again at a restaurant later that night, officials said.
A month later, Barbour invited the teenager back to his upper West Side apartment and the two engaged in sex acts, officials said.
The victim, who is now 20 years old, came forward with her allegations in April. Barbour was arrested later that month released after posting bail, officials said.
A source in the Manhattan district attorney’s office said the teenager came forward earlier this year because she realized what he had done was wrong and she was concerned that he might have approached other underage girls. (NY Daily News)

70.5% to 29.5% in Tuesday’s election, US District Judge Susan Illston blocked the law. She stated, “the measure is overly punitive and prevented it from going into effect.”

Once again, Liberal judges defending sex offenders over our children. If its not bad enough we have judges not sentencing sex offenders to jail time because they are too short or only giving convicted sex offender mere months, we now have judges blocking laws that would protect children. Instead we have judges that think the answer is to have convicted sex offenders wear t-shirts that state, “I am a sex offender”. What the hell is this country coming to?
Judicial legislation is out of control and must be stopped. By an overwhelming 70.5% this proposition passes in CA. It is not as though California is a conservative, red state. Even the common sense voters of California know that they must protect themselves and their children from sexual predators. Its too bad the liberal judges wish to protect the sex offender.
It is amazing how the democratic process in this country is constantly undermined by judges with an agenda. The response from Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s legal affairs secretary was as follows:
“The voters have spoken and the governor will vigorously defend the lawsuit so the implementation of this vital measure can go forward to protect Californians against the lewd acts of convicted felons,” Hoch said in a statement.
This judicial activism and interference has got to end. This has nothing to do with politics and a Republican or Democratic issue. This is about our children … something that all of us can agree on his a common ideal, “We the People” can all stand for.

Here’s a doctor bed-side manner that we can all deal without. A California doctor, Tony 
Shiu, is accused of taking pictures of patients while they were unconscious and semi-nude. Dr. Tony Shiu is also accused of sexual battery of two men at his home. A $1 million warrant has been issued. Dr. Tony Shiu has gone missing since the warrant was issued.

A $1 million arrest warrant has been issued for Dr. Tony Shiu, who also is accused of sexually battering two men at his home. Shiu is in private practice in Dublin, Calif. However, he disappeared after the warrant was issued. Authorities believe he has left the San Francisco Bay area.
A search of Shiu’s home turned up about 450 digital photographs of 19 male patients who were unconscious and undressed in medical examination rooms. Only two of the patients photographed have been positively identified, police said. Those patients were not the two men who reported being battered at Shiu’s home. (Local 10)
East Bay Dr. Wanted On Rape Charge Eludes Police
Dublin police said Monday they are searching for a doctor who allegedly drugged and raped men at his office.
Tony G. Shiu, a private Dublin general internal medicine doctor, is suspected of drugging two men and sodomizing at least one of them in his home in August, investigator Sgt. Herb Walters said. (NBC 11)
Police are asking anyone who may know Shiu’s whereabouts, or who may have been a victim, to call 925-833-6682.

A man who had sexually molested a preschool girl and broadcast the images live over the internet has been arrested. The depravity of some people defies words. Luckily for this young girl, this pedophile sent the images to and undercover detective. The young girl was rescued 2 hours after Toronto police’s Sex Crimes child exploitation unit witnessed the live assault.
He alerted police in St. Thomas, a city in southwestern Ontario where police believed the man lived, and they were able to track him down in two hours.
“To see this child and look that child in the eyes and realize that the child was live somewhere, being abused, we had to save the child right then,” Krawczyk said at a news conference. “The minute we realized what was happening, we went as fast as we could.”
Krawczyk belongs to Toronto’s Child Exploitation Section, acclaimed for its work tracking down child pornographers on the Internet. Microsoft Corp. teamed with the detectives last year to launch a software program designed to help police forces around the world hunt down child porn Internet traffickers.

The man’s name has not yet been released to protect the identity of the preschool girl. It has not been reported what the relationship is between the arrested pedophile and the girl.
He said the identity of the 34-year-old man was not being released to protect the girl. He declined to say whether the suspect was related to her.
Krawczyk said the girl was safe with family members and getting medical care.
The man’s bail hearing was set for Tuesday and he faces 10 charges of sexual assault and the production, possession and distribution of child pornography. (WNBC)
The unidentified man will be charged with an array of sex charges that will hopefully put this dirt bag away for quite a while.
Ontario law enforcement agencies yesterday revealed how they tracked down and arrested the 34-year-old man, who faces a litany of charges including making child pornography, sexual assault and sexual interference. (Canada.com)
The Toronto Child Exploitation unit has done some amazing work including helping Florida police locate a young girl who had appeared in a series of sexually explicit photographs taken at a Walt Disney World hotel. There message is very clear and very much appreciated.
“The message to all pedophiles, and people who want to sexually exploit children on the Internet is that we are on the Internet 24/7, we know where you are and we will find you,” Krawczyk said.

The Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at the University of Central Florida appear to be in some 
major trouble. The fraternity has been suspended by its national charter after three students were found so drunk that they need to be hospitalized. Now SAE is being investigated in a hazing ritual where some of the pledges may have been sexually assaulted.

School officials investigating an apparent hazing ritual at a fraternity house on the University of Central Florida campus in which pledges were found in diapers, fairy wings and women’s panties told Local 6 News that there is evidence that several of them may have been sexually assaulted.
University police, acting on a tip, said they noticed loud, aggressive screaming and moaning coming from the SAE fraternity house.
“At first, students would not let police into the fraternity house because they said they were performing a ritual,” Local 6’s Louis Bolden said. “Apparently, that ritual included male students dressing up like women and drinking until they had to be hospitalized.”
Friday, Local 6 News reported that a university official close to the investigation confirmed that a police investigation has been launched into whether the men were sexually assaulted.

Looks like a bade case of when Animal House goes wrong, terribly wrong. What gets me is how on earth any self respecting person would allow anyone to do this to them? With the price of what college tuition (UCF: $3,502 in-state, $17,027 out-of-state) is these days? Exactly why would anyone allow themselves or want to be a part of something that would do this? Better than that, those that did this to the pledges have a firm grasp of right and wrong. The sad fact is that this is the tip of the iceberg … SAE just happened to get caught.
Police said they found pledges crawling on their hands and knees and wearing items such as diapers and women’s underwear, three men were taken to a hospital, and the house smelled of beer, urine and vomit. (AP)

Nothing says life-long bonds like making another dress in a diaper or female underwear and get them so intoxicated that they need to be hospitalized. The end result is that Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter at UCF was closed. Lets hope that they brain-trust as UCF decides to take a look at the rest of the Greek system as well on their college campus.
The Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter will be closed immediately, said Brandon Weghorst, a spokesman for the Evanston, Ill.-based fraternity.
“Our board does not feel it’s worth the effort to rehabilitate the group,” Weghorst said Wednesday. He said as many as two-thirds of the chapter’s approximately 90 members may have been involved.
The chapter, at the school since the university opened in 1968, was previously suspended for a year in 2003 for a suspected hazing.

Be care careful of those you meet through on-line dating. If it looks to good to be true, it usually is. 33 year old Jeffrey J. 
Marsalis is facing 9 counts of rape involving 8 woman. Most of the woman he is accused of raping Marsalis met through on online dating service, Match.com. It would appear that Jeffrey Marsalis may have used a date rape drug as his MO.
They said they woke up hours later, back at his apartment - groggy, sometimes undressed - after an apparent sexual encounter or even in the middle of intercourse.
”It was like waking up from surgery,” one woman said. “My body was there, and I could see what was going on around me, but I couldn’t move.” (AP)
Be very careful of who you meet on the internet, be careful of who buys you a drink and please do not leave your drinks unattended.
He was an online dater’s dream: Tall, clean-cut, with a fashionable address and a taste for upscale bars and restaurants. He said he was a doctor, an astronaut, a spy - though he was really an on-and-off nursing student. With woman after woman, he would slip something in their drinks and then rape them, police say.
In court this week during Marsalis’ preliminary hearing, the women told strikingly similar stories of meeting the smooth-talking Marsalis between 2003 and 2005, then feeling unusually intoxicated after returning from the bathroom or letting him buy a round from the bar.
Jeffrey J. Marsalis was acquitted of three similar assaults in Philadelphia in January. Its hard to believe so many could have accused Marsalis of rape, all in the same manner, and it not be a real issue. After being acquitted, Marsalis was then rearrested on new charges.
