4 year old Jaelyn Rice has been missing since July 16, 2009. Her mother, Cherish N. Lewis, is presently in Scioto County Jail on contempt charges. Although Jaelyn Rice was missing since July 16, she was not initially listed as missing until her father, Stephen A. Rice, of Tampa, FL issued a missing persons report. It had been treated as a domestic dispute as the mother knows where the child is but refuses to tell authorities.

Prior to the filing, the incident was being treated as a domestic dispute because the mother reportedly knows where the child is but refuses to give the whereabouts of the child to authorities.
The mother, Cherish N. Lewis, of 709 Herms Hill Road, Wheelersburg, is incarcerated in the Scioto County Jail, and according to Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini, has been ordered to remain in jail until she reveals the whereabouts of the child.
Jaelyn Rice Description:

- Missing: Jul 16, 2009
- Age Now: 5
- Sex: Female

- Hair: Blonde
- Eyes: Blue

Ohio Missing Children Clearinghouse
After Scioto County Sheriff’s Detective Jodi Conkel contacted the father in Florida, he filed the report, “because he’s the custodial parent, and he did not know where the child was at that point and time.
Donini said, after a discussion, he determined it was not a missing person case because the biological mother knew the child’s whereabouts.
“We brought her (Lewis) out and questioned her and asked if the child is missing. And she basically said no, she knows exactly where the child is,” Donini said. “She’s just not going to tell the judge.”
Donini said his office was in communication with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, and with Scioto County Prosecutor Mark Kuhn, and the decision was made not to enter the child’s name in the registry.
Search for 5-Year-Old Missing Girl Jaelyn Rice Continues
The girl’s mother, Cherish Lewis of Wheelersburg, Ohio, was jailed nearly a month ago for refusing to tell a judge where her daughter was hidden.
The mother’s sister, Jessica Lewis, is now wanted by police for interfering in custody.
Officials with a legal aid group assisting the Lewis family said evidence shows the father is an abusive parent, allegations the rice family denies.
Scioto County Sheriff Marty Donini said this investigation is frustrating because it puts a 5-year-old child in the middle of some adult legal differences.

A 15 year old juvenile has been charged with first degree murder in the death of 9 year old
Elizabeth Olten. Elizabeth Olten went missing on October 21, 2009 and was found 2 days later in a wooded area by investigators.
Sheriff’s deputies, firefighters and volunteers began searching for the girl quickly, and continued that search Thursday and Friday, until Elizabeth’s body was found about 2:40 p.m. Friday.
“It was in the woods, several hundred yards away from the houses,” White said. “We had been (searching) through that area more than once.
“The body was very well concealed.”
He would not be more specific about how the body was hidden, or whether the place where it was found also was the crime scene.
The name and gender of the juvenile charged has not been released. However, the unnamed teenage suspect is not related to Elizabeth but was acquainted with her and is from the same area just west of Jefferson City.
Authorities said Saturday that a 15-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder for the death of a 9-year-old central Missouri girl found in the woods two days after she went missing.
Police did not release the teen’s gender or name and provided few other details about the person suspected of killing Elizabeth Olten. Cole County Sheriff Greg White has said the teenage suspect is not related to Elizabeth but was acquainted with her and is from the same area just west of Jefferson City.
According to Missouri state law, children as young as 12 can be charged as adults with first-degree murder.
With Olten’s body, came the formal charge from Juvenile Court Administrator Michael Couty.
“Alleging a 15-year-old committed an offensive murder in the first degree,” Couty concluded.
Stringent Missouri juvenile laws protect most information in the case.

7 year old Somer Renee Thompson has been missing since the afternoon of October 19,
2009 in Orange Park, FL. Somer Renee Thompson was walking home from Grove Park Elementary School at approximately 2:50 pm with her twin brother, her sister and some friends. She ran ahead of the group; however, when Somer’s brother and sister arrived home at about 3:05 pm, she was not home. Somer has not been seen or heard from since.
A statewide Amber Alert for Somer was issued about 9 am by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Could Somer Renee Thompson been the victim of a sexual predator abduction? Police are also investigating whether Somer’s disappearance is related to an event that happened in the area on October 10, when three people unsuccessfully tried to lure 5 year old girl Kaylee Boothroyd into a car.
Police interviewed 57 sex offenders and sexual predators within a three-mile radius. They have since expanded that search area to a five-mile radius to include 37 more.
Cops say there was an attempted abduction in that area 10 days before, but they say are not sure if the incident is related to Somer’s disappearance.

The search continued on Tuesday for missing 7 year old Somer Renee Thompson. The police suspect foul play in the 7 year olds disappearance. There were some 150 law enforcement searchers, including tracking dog teams, divers and helicopter units involved in ground and water searches for missing Somer Renee Thompson.
“Obviously we suspect foul play in the fact that she did not come home last night,” said Sgt. Dan Mahla of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. “This is totally out of character for her.”
“In fact, the climate conditions and the age and the size of that child would have made it very very tough for her to survive.”
Police have stated that there have been 150 leads; however, there have been no “persons of interest” named or any physical evidence found that might lead LE to where the missing girl might be. Make that 200 leads and counting.
Volunteers: We Will Search All Night for Somer if Necessary
UPDATE I: Texas EquuSearch Going to Search for Missing Somer Renee Thompson
Texas EquuSearch will begin a search for Somer Renee Thompson, age 7, on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at 8:00 a.m. The Command Center will be located at Orange Park Athletic Association, 1086 Fromhart St., Orange Park, FL 32073. The website for the park is www.opaa.us.
UPDATE II: Body of Missing Somer Renee Thompson found in Landfill
Sadly, the body of 7 year old Somer Renee Thompson has been found in a Georgia landfill. Investigators have confirmed that the body of a young girl that was found in a Georgia landfill about 50 miles from the Jacksonville, FL area where Somer went missing was Somer Renee Thompson.
Officials from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation say that they will not determine, nor disclose, until an autopsy is performed tomorrow morning if the body is that of little Somer Thompson. Thompson vanished on her mile-long walk home from school Monday in Orange Park, Florida. John Bankhead, spokesman for the GBI tells Fox that the investigators are still at the scene where the body was discovered, but that the body of the young female has been sent to Savannah, GA for the autopsy in the morning.
UPDATE III: The autopsy might just be the piece of the puzzle that provides an arrest and justice for Somer. If Somer Renee Thompson was sexually molested, then there will be DNA evidence that will nail the scumbag(s) that committed this heinous crime. With all of the sex offenders in the area of the abduction, it will be hard to believe that there will not be matching DNA evidence on a database.

49 year old US diplomat James Hogan ha been missing on the Caribbean Island of Curacao since Thursday, September 24, 2009; however, was officially reported a day later.
Rescuers searching for a U.S. diplomat led sniffer dogs over beaches Wednesday as technicians prepared to comb the sea floor with a robotic device for traces of a vice consul who vanished on this Dutch Caribbean island last week.
Curacao prosecutors said James Hogan, 49, was reported missing Friday morning by his wife. He apparently left his home to go for a walk the night before.
On Wednesday, searchers scoured coastal areas for Hogan after passers-by found blood-spattered clothes on Baya Beach. A spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office, Ludmila Vicento, told Radio Netherlands Worldwide that the clothes match descriptions given by his wife.
No trace of missing US consul James Hogan
“Mr Hogan’s wife reported her husband missing on Friday morning. We’re not excluding any scenarios. The clothes found match the description given by Mrs Hogan. The area where Mr Hogan used to take walks has been combed, as well as the area where the traces were found. We are being helped by the US Navy, which happened to have a ship with a helicopter in the vicinity of Curaçao. No FBI agents are involved in the investigation at this point, but US agencies may become active here if we invite them. The Netherlands has sent a couple of specialist detectives with search dogs.”
Earlier disappearances are still fresh in the memory of the Netherlands Antillean people. Dutch trainee nurse Marlies van der Kouwe was killed on Bonaire, while on Aruba US teenager Natalee Holloway disappeared without trace.
UPDATE I: Witnesses saw missing US diplomat before he disappeared.
Tips considered credible began trickling in after police on the Dutch Caribbean island posted fliers with numbers that people could call anonymously, according to police spokesman Reggie Huggins.
“We have talked to quite a lot of people that one way or another have helped,” he said, declining to release further details.
UPDATE II: The Bloody Clothes Found on Beach in Curacao Belong to Missing James Hogan
There is a DNA match to the bloody clothes found on the beach in Curacao and that of missing US vice consul James Hogan. The Netherlands forensic institute has confirmed that there is a DNA match.
Curacao – The DNA research by the Netherlands forensic institute confirmed that blood traces found on clothing and beach of Curacao belong to missing US vice consul James Hogan.
The United States said Thursday it has been searching for the US vice consul in the Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao since his wife reported him missing last Friday.
The local authorities announced that a mobile telephone had been found in the sea.
Curacao confirms blood traces from James Hogan
The latest statement issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the Dutch Antilles confirmed that blood traces found on clothing and on the ground nearby are a match for Mr Hogan, who went missing eight days ago. The local authorities announced that a mobile telephone had been found in the sea and was being investigated further.
An intensive search has been underway for Mr Hogan since his wife reported him missing last Friday. The local police are getting support from both The Netherlands and US agencies, and the American and Dutch navies are also involved.

Jaycee Lee Dugard had been missing since June 10, 1991 when as an 11 year old girl walking to the bus stop in South Lake Tahoe, CA she was abducted by two individuals. She had not been heard or seen from since.

18 years later … Jaycee Lee Dugard is found alive and safe. In a missing persons case of don’t ever give up hope, 29 year old Jaycee Lee Dugard has been reunited with her family.
Sadly, Jaycee Lee Dugard had been held as a sex slave by Phillip Garrido, a previously convicted sex offender and kept Dugard in the back yard of his property. According to Fox40 News, Dugard bore several children for sex offender Phillip Garrido. The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department stated that the two children were kept in “complete isolation” and had not been to school or a doctor. (Video)
Authorities tell FOX40 News that Dugard bore several children for sex offender Phillip Garrido, who kept her in a backyard device — possibly a shed — as a sex slave for both Garrido and his wife, Nancy Garrido.
Both Phillip and Nancy Garrido were arrested as suspects in the kidnapping case. Authorities say Nancy Garrido was with Phillip Garrido at the time of the abduction and matches the suspect’s description obtained by eyewitnesses in 1991. The Garrido’s Antioch home was searched for evidence Thursday morning.
Authorities with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s Division of Adult Parolee Operations report a parolee agent helped crack the 18-year-old kidnapping case while following up on a tip that Garrido was seen with two small children on the campus of UC Berkeley. The diligent questioning of the parolee officer led Garrido to reveal the kidnapping of Dugard. Further questioning revealed Dugard and Garrido were the parents of the two children.
