University of Iowa Professor Arthur Miller Missing … Professor in A’s-for-sex scandal missing … Dead?

66 year old University of Iowa Professor Arthur Miller has been missing since Arthur Miller_missingTuesday, August 19, 2008. Police put his name on a national missing persons list Wednesday; however, think Arthur Miller may have committed suicide. Miller was charged on August 8 with four felony counts of accepting bribes and released without bail. Miller was accused of offering higher grades to female students in exchange for sexual favors.

“I think it’s likely that sooner or later it will turn up,” he said of the rifle.

Miller’s car was found in the park Wednesday afternoon with his wallet and cell phone inside and some rifle ammunition in the trunk with three shells missing.

After six hours of searching Hickory Hill Park Wednesday with an infrared-equipped plane, police were unable to find missing University of Iowa Professor Arthur Miller.

Police believe Miller was in the park after his red BMW was found in a parking lot at Hickory Hill Park.

 Miller, who police say may be dead, is thought to have a rifle with him.

The UI faculty member was charged on August 8 with four counts of accepting a bribe. More accusers have contacted authorities about Miller, said Charles Green, the assistant vice president for the UI police

The family of a missing University of Iowa professor have given up hope of finding him alive

Miller, 66, of 1700 N. Dubuque Road, has been missing since Tuesday morning. Police searched for him Wednesday afternoon until dusk and from sunrise to 6 p.m. Thursday but have not found him or the high-powered rifle he purchased June 13.

Police also have said they suspect Miller already is dead, based on a “cryptic” note he left his wife, Natasha Ivanova, before vanishing.

UPDATE I: Police find body in park where professor went missing

Police state that a hiker has found a body in the park where University of Iowa professor, Arthur Miller, went missing. Although it has not yet been confirmed that the body is that of Arthur Miller, one can pretty much surmise that it is. The body was found in a secluded portion of Hickory Hill Park.

The clothing found on the body and a blanket near it are similar to items police said Miller was wearing and carrying with him.

Miller also had a shotgun with him, but police have not yet revealed how the person discovered Sunday died.

Kentucky Backpacker Yi-Jien Hwa Missing in Montana’s Glacier National Park … Missing Since 8/11/08

27 year old backpacker from Kentucky, Yi-Jien Hwa, is missing on Montana’a Glacier National Park. Park officials say Yi-Jien Hwa was last seen at the St. Mary Visitor Center on August 11, 2008. His car was found in the Logan Pass Visitor Center parking lot. He was believed to be hiking alone.

  • He is believed to be carrying a blue Kelty backpack and trekking poles, along with other equipment, and might be wearing dark-colored clothing.

WEST GLACIER, Mont. —  Searchers on Friday found no sign of a 27-year-old Kentucky man who was four days overdue from a lengthy backcountry hike in Glacier National Park.

Park officials say Yi-Jien Hwa was last seen at the St. Mary Visitor Center on Aug. 11, the first day of a hike that he planned to end Monday at Kintla Lake. His car was found in the Logan Pass Visitor Center parking lot. He was believed to be hiking alone.

Park spokeswoman Norma Sosa said improved weather Friday allowed one helicopter to join the search.

Searchers in Montana look for Asbury student

Yi-Jien Hwa, 27, an Asbury Theological Seminary student originally from Malaysia, was to have returned from the hike Monday. He is thought to have been hiking alone.

Hwa’s family notified park officials Tuesday night that they had not heard from him since Aug. 11, the first day of the hike, and he had not contacted them as agreed when the hike was supposed to end at Kintla Lake near the U.S.-Canada border.

Texas Jacomini Family Plane of Four (Tommy Jacomini, Susie, Tommy Jr & Victoria) Missing in Colorado

A family of four from Texas is missing. The Plane that Tommy Jacomini was piloting has vanished without a trace. Aboard the Cesna 182 was the pilot, Tommy Jacomini, his wife, Susie, and their two young children, 8-year-old Tommy Jr. and 6-year-old Victoria. small plane that took off Friday bound for Texas but did not reach its destination. Officials said that he never filed a flight plan and no distress call was received.

A family of four vanished without a trace after its small private plane took off from Steamboat Springs, Colo., KPRC Local 2 reported Saturday.

On the Cessna 182 four-seat plane was the pilot, Tommy Jacomini, his wife, Susie, and their two young children, 8-year-old Tommy Jr. and 6-year-old Victoria.

The family was headed back home to its ranch in Brenham, Texas. The family never reached its intended destination.

Tim Miller and Texas Equusearch will try and help in the search for the missing Jacomini family.

Miller said he would be involved in flyovers and will also use drone airplanes.

“Hopefully, we can get out there and bring the resources to bring this to a close,” he said.

UPDATE I: Hiker Finds Plane Wreckage Near Where Plane reportedly Disappeared

This is not looking good for the hope of any survivors from the missing Cesna 182 and the Jacomini family.

Rescue crews were en route Sunday to a Colorado mountain pass where a hiker reported finding wreckage Sunday near the search area where a Texas family’s plane disappeared.

Summit County sheriff’s spokeswoman Paulette Horr said authorities were trying to verify the report about the plane wreckage near Georgia Pass east of Breckenridge, about 65 miles west of Denver.

A plane wreckage has been discovered on the Georgia Pass; however, authorities have not yet confirmed if plane is missing aircraft out of Steamboat Springs

SUMMIT COUNTY — A hiker summiting Mt. Guyot just east of Breckenridge called 911 this morning after discovering the remains of a small plane crash, but authorities have not yet confirmed if it is the same plane that went missing Saturday morning out of Steamboat Springs .

The Summit County Communication Center received a call on Saturday morning from Routt County advising an aircraft that left from Steamboat Springs on Friday morning, but it had not reached it’s destination in the Houston, Texas area.

Potential Discovery of Evidence by Search Team in case of Missing Caylee Anthony

Now 3 year old Caylee Anthony has been missing for over 2 months. There have been few leads as according to reports Caylee’s mother, Casey Anthony, has said little to investigators while behind bars.

At this point in the case, any bit of news or evidence could prove valuable in helping find and solve what happened to Caylee Anthony. An independent volunteer search team for Caylee Anthony might have found potential evidence while searching. They discovered clothing and a backpack and called Sheriff deputies to gather the possible evidence.

15 Year Old Brittney Williams Missing Since 8/11/08 in Wallingford, CT

15 year old Brittney Williams has been missing in Wallingford, CT since Brittney WilliamsAugust 11, 2008. Brittney Williams was entering her junior year at Sheehan High School who has not been in contact with her parents since she went missing Monday.

Police are looking for a missing girl who was last seen at her home in Wallingford.

Brittney Williams, 15, was last seen on Monday at her home on Apple Street, police said.

Williams is 5 feet 5 inches tall, with platinum blond hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a gray Abercrombie & Fitch sweatshirt, a white T-shirt, flip flops and red Ray-Ban sunglasses.

13 Year Old Phillip Labicani Missing Since 8/15/08 in Roseville, CA

13 year old Phillip Labicani, a developmental challenged boy has been missing since August 15, 2008 at 4 pm Friday afternoon. He was last seen in the Diamond Oaks neighborhood of Roseville, CA.Phillip Labicani Authorities are claiming that he ran away from home Friday afternoon.

Finland Missing: Missing Since 1997 Finnish Girl Nadia Bouteldjan Found Alive & Safe

Nadia Bouteldjan went missing 11 years ago in May 1997 when she was nine years old. It was suspected that her Algerian father had kidnapped her and fled with her abroad.  Nada Bouteldjan and her father were spotted in Britain in 1997 but after that all trace of them disappeared. Nadia Bouteldjan has been found at the age of 20; however, she has refused to disclose what happened to her.

In 2006, after Bouteldjan turned 18, she contacted her mother and began what would become a two-year correspondence by e-mail. She finally agreed to meet her mother, together with police, in Luxembourg in July.

However, the young woman did not want to tell police about her disappearance, her whereabouts for the past 11 years, nor where she lives now or what had happened to her over the years.

“She did not want to tell us what had happened,” Kaski said, adding that Bouteldjan behaved suspiciously towards authorities.

Matthew Wilson Missing Since 2007 Found Alive on the Campus the University of California at Berkeley… “he wanted to disappear”

Rice University student Matthew Wilson had been missing since December 15, Matthew Wilson2007. His car had been found in Berkeley, CA on June 10, 2008. Now after all this time Matthew Wilson has been found alive on the campus of the Campus the University of California at Berkeley. Wilson was arrested by campus police in connection with trespassing and theft charges. All things considered, at least he is safe and alive.

A Rice University student missing since December was found, and arrested, on another campus in California, Berkeley Police said Thursday.

Matthew Wilson, 21, was detained by police on a routine patrol of the campus at the University of California at Berkeley Wednesday night, where he was found using a laptop in a classroom. He was arrested in connection with trespassing and theft charges after investigators learned who he was.

“He was detained because he was trespassing in the building after hours, and later admitted to the officer his true identity,” Sgt. Mary Kusmiss, the public information officer for the Berkeley Police Dept. told FOXNews.com Thursday.

According to reports, Matthew Wilson had gone missing voluntarily and there was no indication of foul play.”He later told our detectives that he wanted to disappear.”

At that point, Wing said Wilson was arrested on four charges: providing false information to a police officer, possession of stolen property with a serial number obliterated, possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools.

Wilson was taken to the Berkeley City Jail and then transferred to the John George Psychiatric Pavilion.

“Wilson is currently being held under a 72-hour psychiatric hold,” said Wing, who added that at the time of his arrest Wilson seemed psychically healthy and was coherent. “When he’s released back into criminal custody he will be arraigned.”

Diane Medlin, 61, Missing from McKinney, TX Since 8/4/2008 … History of Schizophrenia and Suicidal Tendencies

61 year old Diane Medlin of Collin County, TX has been declared missing. Diane MedlinShe was last seen on Monday, August 4, 2008 at approximately 6:45am. Diane Medlin has a medical history of Schizophrenia and she also has a history of suicidal tendencies.According to her husband she has no cell phone or credit cards. However, she did take $200 in cash before leaving.

Diane Medlin, 61, is 5 feet 3 inches tall and 180 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen about 6:45 a.m. Monday at her home, near the boundary with Rockwall County. She is apparently driving a 2008 red Pontiac Grand Prix with dealer tags.

Ms. Medlin, who was recently released from Terrell State Hospital, is on medication but did not take it with her when she left home.
