4 Year Old Javeion Mayes Missing in Greenville, SC (Update: Found Deceased)

Greenville, SC police are searching for 4 year old Javeion Mayes who went missing earlier this morning. Police officials activated a Missing Child Alert into effect; an auto-call system that will alert residents within a 3 mile radius of the home that the child is missing. The police have not issued an AMBER Alert as they believe the boy just wandered off.

Description:

  • Mayes is African America

  • last seen wearing an orange shirt and green shorts

  • 3 feet tall

  • weighs 33 pounds

  • black hair

  • brown eyes

  • scar beside his right eye

Greenville Police have been scouring the area looking for Javeion Mayes. He disappeared around 8 am Tuesday morning from outside a home on Hollywood Circle. That’s off East North Street and Stone Avenue in Greenville.

The boy’s family and friends say he is a typical curious 4-year-old and could wander off without telling anyone. Greenville Police immediately set up a grid to search the area of Hollywood Circle and the surrounding Greenline community. They say the wooded terrain is making it difficult.

Police are asking for volunteers to help search for the missing 4 year old boy. Police are becoming increasing worried about Javeion Mayes due to the extreme hot temperatures.

UPDATE: 4 Year Old Javeion Mayes Found Deceased

The body of 4 year old Javeion Mayes was found approximately a block away from his home in a thick patch of kudzu. The death is being considered a suspiscious death. So why wasn’t their an AMBER ALERT? How many times have we heard a family member state that a child wandered away only to late learn that the same family member played a part in a murder?

Greenville County Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis said he believes the body to be that of Mayes and he was treating it as a “suspicious death.” He said he hadn’t made a positive identification, and an autopsy will be performed this morning.

The 33-year-old Wilson has been charged with “unlawful neglect of a child by a legal custodian,” according to a warrant. It is a felony charge, authorities said.

Mayes disappeared at about 8 a.m. Tuesday, police said. The warrant alleges that Wilson left his son unsupervised and waited four hours to alert authorities to his disappearance, putting the child “at an unreasonable risk of harm” and affecting “his life and safety.”

  1. This a.m. “legal gaurdian?!” was on news stating that his identical twin has been saying that “daddy hit him in the head”. Also the news stated that the father just learned he was the biological father a week ago?!?!

  2. I hope that someone is carefully looking after the twin brother — “daddy” might just try to get rid of him too — as if he hasn’t suffered enough with his loss. These poor children, this is just so sad.
