In early February 2007 I was travelling around Egypt and went through the Oasis Bahariya, Oasr Al Farafra, Dakhla Oasis, Mut, and Al Qasr (also called Al Kasr); when I visited Al Qasr (Al Kasr) on the 8th Febuary 2007, I went for a walk through an ancient and I found myself lost, a couple of boys approached me and we started talking in English, they informed me that I was in the old city and that they lived in the old city. Then more children came up to us and one of the children stood out from the others because she looked very European. All the children looked like they needed a bath, including the European looking girl, but unlike the other children who had dark olive skin and black hair, this little girl (who was about 4 years old) had fair skin and shoulder length blond curly hair. Though I can’t remember the colour of her eyes I think they were blue. Although the little girl never spoke to me, she continually looked at me then looked at her own skin as though she knew that neither her or i belonged there. At the time I said to myself that perhaps one of her parents was white. Two older boys then helped me find my way out of the city and I felt that they wanted to tell me something, but as we reached the entrance two policemen took the boys and held them in the old city at gunpoint. I managed to get a local woman to help me get the boys free, then I left the town. I have never been able to forget the events of that day and now wonder if the little girl was abducted, because during my trip around Egypt I never saw any blond Egyptian children.
