My Message is for Michael. Children nowdays have seen so much violence in their everyday life that they are simpley not aware of how valued they are as an individuals. As adults we have to constantly let you know that we expect you to screw up! we know you will screw up, and we need you to screw up! Our job as parent is to use those screw ups to demonstrat how much we love you, and how to turn your screw ups into a positive learning lesson.
Screwing up is not important! What is important is that your PARENTS teach you how to un screw, your screw up. This can only be shown with LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING! You can easly do it! We all are praying for you and can't wait to see what a wonderful adult you are going to turn into!
You are our happy ending!

Has anyone considered the unambiguous premise for this entire incident ? Michael Auberry is a spoiled child who appears to manage his father like a page. His father had every Dr. Spock excuse for his son's disappearance but the most obvious and accurate. Michael didn't get his way. He decided to punish everyone, especially his father, by merely walking away to show them he was unhappy with his attendance on a camping trip. He sat in the woods watching volunteer searchers, helicopters and numerous public officials looking for him. At a distance of a half mile from the campsite, he eventually decided he had made his point and walked up to searchers asking for a helicopter ride as a reward for his sacrifice of spending 3 nights in the woods. His father is going to let him readjust from his trauma, in his own time, considering a request for a merit badge for this harrowing experience.

Sadly, this is a commonly occurring example of NEW AGE parenting and the resultant idiocracy of how we are building our future. When will we wake up and recognize the folly of sparing the rod and acting like parents ?!

Just wanted to say I am so happy to hear that Michael was found safe. My heart goes out to his family and friends and to Michael himself. My son went missing just for a few hours once and I can remember the anguish I went through. I'm glad that this had a happy ending!!
