However, the Needhams had coerced her into giving up her kids, using her weakened state to prey on Quets. Thus this kidnapping happened because the Needhams felt they were more entitled to the birth mother's kids than she is. Had the Needhams relinquished custody of Quets’ twins to her, this would have been quietly arbitrated in a civil suit for adoption costs.
