The theory was that the wife and the lover might have been trying to use the Community Property laws of California to seize control of his computer workproduct and turn his open source programs into proprietary systems. There doesn't seem to be any evidence that has been released although there is a report that he was seen washing the sidewalk near his home that afternoon.
